  • awesome vid little dude!

  • i don't have a line in only headphone jack will this do

  • hey thank you, your tutorial is the only one i found online to help me with my vinyl conversion, have technics sl 1200mk2 begringer usb interface, imac and garage band and tons of dance music, this worked perfectly the first time i tried it, thank you!!!!!!

  • Well I posted before I tried it. All that was recorded- of I think was recorded was a metronome?? Please help. My version is 6.0.4 an looks different from yours.

    Thank you.

  • Fantastic, thank you!

I would like to use the Apple lossless format- does Garage band do this? MY records are from the 1970's.. Thank you so much.

Best use of Youtube I have found yet and I signed up to contact you...

  • Thanks little dude very helpful :)

  • This is the most useful kid I've ever seen.

  • hey I'm using garage band from 2010 and followed all the steps. It's not monitoring while recording or picking up the playback from my record player. Could there be a default setting that's on that's interfering with the recording? I'm totally unfamiliar with garageband.

  • thank you, you saved me $60.

  • wow, a kid who tries to do something on youtube without getting totally hated on, i applaud you sir

  • are you even old enough to have a youtube account. its cool seeing young people doing thid

  • I'm totally subscribing because you're a prodigy.

  • Thought this would be a poor quailty video but turned out to be good

  • nice vid work 1st time thanks

  • you do realize a turntable needs to be pre-amped...other wise your recordings will come out low and crappy. you usually would use some sort of phono pre amp or a dj mixer that's pre-amped just some useful info as this tutorial is misleading.

  • @steinoo7 Yes, I know. This tutorial was to explain how to do it for next to no money. As you can see 1:00 I have a mixer, I also have a few other toys that get the job done as well. I made this thinking the people watching it would have this stuff lying around. Bottom line, it works.

  • Excellent explanation! Truly clear, quick, easy to follow along. I'll be checking out more of your podcasts. If I had any kind of biz trying to communicate "how to" stuff to the masses, I'd hire this kid asap. WAY better than practically every Apple tutorial. Way!

  • what happens if you have an rca cable running from your record player to stereo, then stereo to your computer (plugged into headphone jack)? would having the y adapter still work, without having to buy a usb audio device?

  • @sethp1987 It might be more noisy, but it should still work.

  • Wow excellent--this is a high quality podcast and is very useful. Keep it up!

  • @boji44 Why, thank you!

  • Thanks!

  • Good job. keep up the tips.

  • Thanks! I'm about your age, and needing this tutorial ALOT!

  • first off, thanks, second, since you made this have you found a way to hook up the rca cables to a usb port? how is the sound quality? could it be better with a different hook up? and third, and sorry, but that is not how you hold a record. from the edges brother. protect the grooves.

  • haha whats up with my voice. im annoying myself looking back at this.

  • Hey Man- Thank you! I just saw this and I'm able to record everything over to my mp3. Thank You.

  • Terrific video ... thanks for sharing this information

  • Thanks!

  • where can i buy RCA Y adapter from

  • @weedyak pretty much anywhere that sells audio equipment

  • Thanks for the help!

  • if you have a turn table with an magnetic cartridge you will need a pre amp

  • hey bro, you are awesome!

  • some peoples are stupid, garage band (the new one at least) had been desgned to be able to do stuff like this ie instrument without pre amp, i hook up my electric guitar straight to the mac... where u people may be suffering quality would be if u havent still got the record player earthed, you will get a buzz sound if u dont... or the vinyl is dirty and needs to be cleaned, get bumps and scratchy sounds

  • you don't need the adapter, the sell cords that are rca to 3.5mm, for less

  • @27BStr0kE6 I like getting separate adapters from cables, for use with other projects.

  • Fly by night - RUSH! Awesome, you surprised me...

  • Without a proper phono preamp between the record player and your computer, your recording will be very poor. This explains why you need to crank up the base in GarageBand.

  • yeah it's not the best way but it is a cheap excuse. I have that mixer that you see at 0:35 and personally I use that and also run it thru an equalizer and it sounds pretty good. But that is also a $300 setup.

  • You just saved me a lot of money. Thanks man!!
