Wow, I remember these songs. I had a tape with the themes for Horizons, Universe of Energy, The Land, and others. Most of my memories come from that tape, because I hardly remember the rides at such a young age.

I remember reading that they closed the ride due to a sinkhole that formed beneath it, probably causing structural problems.

Mission Space and Test Track are good rides, but its too bad that there is no place in Epcot for the type of sedate, family oriented, animatronic heavy rides that Horizons and World of Motion represented.

Next year marks Horizons 25th anniversary. I hope all true Horizons fans will be at Epcot on October 1st 2008 to celebrate this one of a kind attraction. Remember the future is what you make it, and if you can dream, you can do it! Thank you for posting this and all you other video on youtube.

This video sends chills down my spine. Horizons was the my favorite ride at Epcot. I think out of all the EPCOT attractions, Walt would have loved this one. When I got old enough to wander the park without my parents I would go on Horizons over and over again. This really brings me back, I would kill to see it again. Mission space is just another pointless "thrill" ride without a message of hope for the future.

I totally agree with you on this for the most part. I think one of the biggest problems though is that technology keeps advancing so fast now. EPCOT offered a fantastic and whimsical look at the future for a good ten or fifteen years, but now, so much of what used to be shown there is already here!

Rest in peace, Horizons. It's nice that Spaceship Earth will incorporate the "choose your own adventure" element, but we'll see how it measures up.
