It really is amazing just how popular Skyfire has gotten in the last five-six years. Back in mid 2005 no-one knew them and only one of their songs was on youtube, I think it was Tranquillity's Maze. I wish they were more popular back when they had their old singer, I think he was better.

@ghostman573 They are technically melodeth at the core, but they are extremely symphonic and melodic for their genre. So you could probably call them symphonic progressive melodeth if you wanted to be really accurate.

@aander2112 I must insist that Skyfire's sound is so remotely far away from death metal that it couldn't really be considered melodic death (see Amorphis, select Carcass, Kalmah etc.). This sound is much closer to a cross between black metal and symphonic; half of what people call melodeath isn't even close anyway, can't say I blame you..

Well, I do like some Bodom. Honestly, can't stand their new stuff. It's like Nu-Metal meets Melodeath. Nu-Melo-Death? But, yeah, Follow the Reaper is great, and I'm not sure what album it's from but I love Bed of Razors. It's my favorite song by them and probably one of my favorite melodeath songs.

Hm, I don't know. Simpler guitar parts, nu-metal-esque vocals. (More yelly, less growly/screamy, though I can see this being attributed to thrash instead of nu-metal). I haven't heard the newest album, but I could definitely say there was nu-metal influence in Are You Dead Yet. If you compare it to other versions of Melodeath. I would even go as far to say that said album was a bastardized version of their former self and melodeath in general.
