man i thought my spider was dieing so i try bringing it back alive for a good 2 hours till i gave up and i woke up the next morning and there was another spider next to my old one i was freaking out. then i saw this and i learn something new, so Frank is still ALIVE! =]
mine molted first time! When i came home from school, my Rose Hair Tarancula was on its back! And it changed form light red to Dark Brown! Then, I went to bed and this morning, It was done Molting! And my dad says i can look at the fangs with my microscope!
@everySOLEincluded Its when the spider basically sheds its skin, so it can continue to grow.....or to replace lost limbs..This process can take several hours and they are quite vulnerable at this time..
Mine molted for the first time today...... Coolest thing I've witnessed in a while :-) anyone know how long they take to reach full size? It's my first 'T' (Chilean rose)
this reminds me when i had a tiny lobster, it molted without me knowing so i thought it was dead and we buried it, after a few minutes i saw it in its tank and then realized that we had buried its skin. :D i miss that lobster -_-
The funny thing was I was wondering why they fangs of the exoskeleton on the left were still moving and then at the end I finally realized that the one on the left is the tarantula the one on the right is the exoskeleton!!
@iLaVidaNarcotica Well it sometimes does it doesnt hurt all tarantulas.. but if its the first time sheddign then it will be very dificult and it may hurt them a little.. but if u have a spider do not touch it while it shedding/ molting because it could lead them to their death (sometimes)
@tony1459991 Give it time. Generally, tarantulas tend to act a little dead before moulting (and usually refuse to eat, which can add to the panic). If, at the end of a few hours, it's still on its back and not moving, and there isn't an exoskeleton next to it, it's dead. But don't touch the tarantula when its in the moulting/dead position unless you're sure it's dead. Otherwise, you could hurt or kill it.
@tony1459991 Normally when a tarantula dies all the legs are curled in on the body. It's not normal for them to be laying on their back with the legs spread if they are dead.
@whiskerchild theyr skin are their bones, they can't grow, so they produce a second skin under the original, wich is bigger, so they molt and grow with this. If they are young you can see huge differences! I got one that was about 3cm it molted 3 times aand she's now 6cm o.o''
Why do they do little spazzes on their backs after they mold? I'm sure that it uses a lot of energy so they get tired from it but why the little spazzes?
Thanks for posting this. I've been worried about my T molting, but now that I know what it looks like I'll not freak out and think my baby is dying lol.
@Shamelesslilly I never could get a T to live more than a few days. They had good temperature, light, and june bugs to eat but the would die. I know they ate the june bugs because there would be hollow june bug exoskeletons (or shells?) the next day. I stopped trying after my third T since I figure I'm not doing something right.
@Kerplunk990 Yes, they're quite vulnerable. It takes a few days for their new exoskeleton to harden. Even the fangs are soft and pliable, so she can't eat until those harden, as well.
why is this somehow really beautiful to watch? i have arachnophobia..not joking, i scream and shiver and twitch when i get near spiders. yet i'm watching this over and over..
@trekkieqwerty I was about to say the same thing. I hate spiders with a passion. If I ever see one, I go the OTHER direction. I am a 6 foot man, and they make me scream like a 4 foot girl. /sigh
Yet, I watch these videos and I'm like...nature is powerful....and disgusting. Yet beautiful.....and disgusting. /shivers

Can somebody help me, I have a rosie haired Tarantula that has molted once before but when I checked the cage today around 1:30pm he was upside down in a web she made, so I thought " OK she going to molt"... But it is now 6:11pm and she is still upside down with nothing changed at all. I was really sacred so I poked her leg to see if I can get a reaction for her and she has no movement at all. Is this normal ?
@SeedOfTheWicked Don't touch your Chilean Rose. I have one as well who is showing signs that she will molt soon herself. If your T was dying or dead, it would have it's legs crossed underneath the body. They don't lay on their backs when they die.
