Beetlehair; you need to understand that john kay was always his own act, john kay and who ever he played with. any group that shared the stage with him did well,
beetlehair john kay was always his own act it was always john kay and////////// any act lucky enough to play for him did just fine, much better than they ever would have done alone.
the only way i can find steppenwolf in the usa that is not top 10 is on the internet songs like monster forget it the internet is the only way and from what i hear it wont b long befor they sensor most of that
most of there politicaly charged music is not allowed in the usa only the top 10 if you dont remember it you will never find it in bars radio stations wallmart ect sensord sensord
all the people he worked with were realy great also and it was a two way street. i this man always had something to say that could help mankind if people could listen and understand what he was trying to say from his HEART; i think he always tried to do his best. this man was never in it all for himself. to say anything of the sort means you do not know MR. KAY. MAY GOD ALWAYS BLESS YOU MR. JOHN KAY. FROM OLD MAN VANCE;
john kay spread truth to his fellow man anybody lucky enough to work with him did good those that left his side fadded away on there own. a modern day profit to say the very least' .......
One word for all here. John Kay IS Steppenwolf. Steppenwolf IS John Kay. No John Kay no Steppenwolf. This is fact. He does a good job over 45 years. A man with charisma. He was the idol of my youth and is it lifelong for me. Stay wild John.
Bickering Baster's, John Kay Was and will Always be Stppewolf, take your bow-up dall behind the grocerie mart and pray you have Self Whipes. If is not enough come here a minute and I'll make a Queen out of a BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm with ya, Beetlehair. Talent does not excuse bad behavior. Money is the loudest voice we have. Spend it where it counts. DON't give it away---to GREEDY people. There's no reason to be stingy when you have something to give.
John Kay's old bandmates that no longer receive royalty payments screwed themselves by signing away their rights in order to use (trash) the Steppenwolf name. They got what they deserved. fuck them.
I agree With You Pale Rider Well Said if I didn't like the pesronal Lives of any musician i'd never listen to music or even watch movies because half of holywood the actors and actresses are idots trying to change america into what they want not what the everyday common man wants
I love the sentiment of this song, and regardless of our misdeeds due in part to our all too human frailties, it is gratifying to acknowledge the fact that friends, family, and loved ones in general are willing to overlook these social transgressions in the powerful name of LOVE, therefore, allow me a word of thanks to the Somebody in all of us everywhere!
Colleen1807: It's well documented that Kay has legally manuvered himself so that he receives royalties from recordings sold and former band members receive nothing. See Steppenwolf: VH1 - Behind the Music for starters. Do some research before making yourself look stupid!
PaleRider81 I am with you and your reply to Beetlehair, what J.K. does in his private life matters not to me, I only know I find this to be one of the most engaging tunes to come from his or any body's musical catalog! I always liked Steppenwolf, and John Kay was their heart and soul! I love this song! I could easily spend hours listening to it, wait a minute, I already did back in the 70's when both were first released and both were masterpieces! Thanks YT, J.K. and: ROCK ON SHINDIGGERS!!!!!!
right on pall... Their music is tatooed on my soul... Steppenwolf is my all time favorite band and John Kay is my favorite singer!! Their music really moves me and make me feel a different thing straight to my soul...
Such a musically diverse band. i wonder who was in the audience at their shows, bikers or rednecks? very hard to figure them out. john's voice is so distinct and original. who cares if they aren't in the rock n roll hall of fame. all the diehard fans know what they did for rock and their music is tatooed on our souls.
John Kay has screwed over his old Steppenwolf bandmates by blocking payments to them for sales of CDs and other product. He receives revenue, but they do not. He could change things legally to cut them in on profits, but he refuses. Watch VH-1's Behind The Music. His attitude towards his old bandmates sucks. He wasn't even an original member of Sparrow in Canada.
Khmm... maybe you're right sir - but as long as a musician does a good job as a musician, and we (the listeners) enjoy in his/her work, I personally don't give a damn how they live their own lives. And yes they are humans too with bunch of mistakes, just like ordinary people.
@PaleRider81 damn right too. Wagner for example was a shitty piece of work, but he could sure lay down some great music! No aspersions against John K, for who among us is without sin? Let him cast the first rolling stone ... oh, just listen, eh?
@Beetlehair If you know this to be true, then you must know WHY(how come you don't say?) and sorry, but only he and his bandmates REALLY know WHY....so butt out.
@Beetlehair His bandmates SOLD their rights and now are back for what they sold.... The last time someone sold you something, did you return and complain that you sold it? No one FORCED his band mates to sell their rights.
@Beetlehair Who the fuck cares about Sparrow? The bogus Steppenwolf's that his bandmates toured with were a joke and made the real Steppenwolf look bad. They signed a contract-it's all legal!

If there had not been John Kay there would never have been a Steppenwolf.
Steppenwolf was basically a garage band without John.
Monarch, Moreve, McJohn and Edmonton would have spent the late 60's and early 70's broke in Canada fucking Moose.
John owned the music and made it work..
The list of people who played in the band over the years is 50 names long.
People came and went and left John hanging many times.
The ONLY factor that kept the music alive was John's talent.
Rock On John!
Fuckin -A !

Seems like I've read the same rant from 'Beatlehair,' at other Kay songs as well as Steppenwolf videos. What a waste of time, and too many bad vibes.
