  • Even if you could conceivably eat breakfast before she's warm enough to hit the highway, she's still a God Blessed General Lee... and worth every minute, ain't she?

  • where do you even live for it to take this long

  • Did you fix the oil problem?

  • Black smoke means an over rich carb mixture and blue means deeper problems

  • well its a performance car. its should be broken in before it gets put away. my big block 400-4 76 Formula did'nt want to cooperate with me on cold mornings. so i did a little tweaking, lightened the oil to 10w30 synthetic( as an experiment) changed the spark plugs to e3 diamondfires oil pump etc.. and i cleaned the carborator and rebuilt it. after all of the fun stuff. i would run the crap out of it on the interstate for about 30 minutes in the fastlane. worked well!!

  • @Darkfloyd73 after that it would start up every morning. gave the same advice to a friend who has A 440 Big Block 1972 Charger. he runs it well!! does all the maintnance to keep it running clean. wokrs every time!! just a little tlc.

  • sounds like a rotary engine

  • i love how people think old cars are really that bad on gas, i have a ford tuck with a tired big block in it and i am able to go to school and back with trips to the store and friends houses in between, for a month on a 18 gallon tank of gas. it gets probably 7-10 mpg depending on how cold it is, how much you have to choke it, and how fast you go haha.

  • I love to read all of these computer mechanics responses. Show'em what'cha know it wont take long!

  • what exhaust are you running? i lik ethat sound

  • How did the shipping company damage it? Like what did they do?

  • buy a decent car :-)

  • i bet you used half of the fuel in the tank just to get it warmed up haha, lovely sound though!

  • The cam timing is out and it is too rich

  • sounds and smokes like my 2-stroke PUCH's lol

  • i guess it needs more oil than fuel :D

  • i wish i had a car like that! lucky you!!! :)

  • Lovely car, but the engine smokes too much for my liking, also plenty of water and water vapour coming from those pipes. The piston rings are not sealing the cylinder walls properly, and oil seeping into the combustion center

  • sounds smooth

  • still sounds MEAN as hell :)

  • if change the sparks, wires, make a tune up, maybe is out of little time

  • The beast!

  • @420superdude its a drag car thts why

  • no quick getaways from boss hogg!

  • nice car but it does not have that sound that one from the show had

  • I have an orig 69 w/a 383, far from this but this is pretty...but this also tells you...than don't fk w/Mother Nature. A crate engine no longer makes it a Mopar.

  • blue smoke = fucked motor... so sad

  • @BadAssEngineering ---- yup... I agree. I still can't get the rings to seal well, lots of blow by, oil is crapped out by 500 miles, yadda, yadda, yadda... so the 451 should be done soon. I have a funny feeling I will find little to no radial tension on the oil rings, and I suspect a "cylinder hone" and ridge reamer bore job type rebuild, if so I will be kickin some lazy mechanics butt.

  • @turbosigns the answer to this is just sending the engine for an adjustment... change the cylinders or maybe change the std pistons for 010 or so... but well see the good part, you got a beautiful charger, and in the end if cant get the engine fixed you can always buy a chevy 350 small block or so to replace it... this time use syntetic oil and change it every 3000 miles and your engine will last more than you

    keep on the good work!

  • @turbosigns bad fuel injectors could cause the misfire as well.

  • @BadAssEngineering try replacing your PCV valve.

  • @John52953 Also correct

  • @John52953 lol....bet you its your seats/guides. Big Block are extremly cold blooded, mines takes about 5 min of driving to get into operating temp and about 15 min of driving to get my oil at operating temp and right viscosity. If i just let it idel it would take forever to warm up. Freindly tip: dont ever do burn outs or hammer an engine when it is cold, you want to wait at least 5 min after it reaches operating temp or you can do serious damage to engine. ;)

  • i really hope you can rully restore this queen :)

  • Omg my mustang does the same exact thing! Any help on what I can do to fix it? Btw its FI

  • @metalwar31 ---- the main problem here came from a messed up reluctor in the distributor and a blown power valve in the demon 650 vac2nd... good luck with yours!

  • I hope you sued those assholes for all they were worth.

  • @myid9876543 ----- woudah - coudah - shoudah... but didn'nah! My attorney made it clear, it would have been a shit storm for all involved. And I would still have had to collect from them in the end if I did get the full judgment... screw it, I don't have that kinda time to waste.

  • Set the cab !

Your killing the car . Don't buy a car like that with out skills!

  • @milksoda110 ------ I'll repeat this again since you didn't read the backstory... this is how I got it from the restoration house after the shipping company took it for a rubber shredding, cylinder glazing, high RPM joy ride. I have since done all I can with the 383 seen here and I have built a 451 low deck stroker at my machine shop and it should be done in a month or two. Skill? I own a friggin machine shop and face milled the quench pads to zero deck within .001", good enough for ya?

  • just wondering whats the MPG for it ? anyways i love Chargers :P

  • Never say tuning and charger in one sentence.

  • That thing need some TUNING!!!!!!!!!

  • blame it on the shipping company--lame excuse for a junk purchase

  • @Olddog231 ---- wow... I know who you work for! What about those 20 miles on the ODO and the molten rubber all over the quarter panels (and rock chips) and the fired driver? Hmmmm, yup, the builder musta done it all.

  • lol poor thing. Beautiful car man. Glad to hear you got her running good though.

  • The amount of gas burnt during that cold start is the probably the same exact amount that gets me to school every morning. This car is just... awesome! haha

  • hey, that thing was running pretty rough, what happened to the shipping company? did you get any money back? did you sue them or something?

  • im no expert or nothing and im not be sarcasistic about that. but it sounds like a carb problem. adjust the idle mixture screws, and leave the choke open. and raise the main idle a little bit. and if that aint it adjust your timing. idk just ideas

  • @chevguy350 agreed, sounds like the basic settings of the choke mechanism are not set correctly. Too much fuel, causes wetting of plugs and errattic running of the engine.

Start from the base up, make very sure all internal passages in the carb(s) are clean, check all jet sizes and inspect for damage, set the float level exactly at the specified height, make sure the inlet manifold is leaktight (de-odorant spray test) and make sure the ignition system is in new condition and working correctly.

  • im getting sick and tired of these general lees fucking up the dodge chargers

  • @DORUKOZKAN thank you

  • @Mr68charger440 haha your welcome

a charger needs to be black because its one of the most imposing cars out there.

and not orange with stupid bells and whistles attached to it like a freaking toy car.

ive seen your charger vids and your ride is soooooo clean man.

all black like they should be!

  • @DORUKOZKAN Thank you, i get ALL these people at car shows "you should paint it orange and put an 01 on it" that shit gets annoying!

  • @Mr68charger440 ----- yup... and I avoided all that by painting it orange and puttin on some graphics, funny how two people can see two completely different things.

  • @Mr68charger440 if you dont wna tpeoples opinion on your car then just dont take it to a car show... simple.

  • @DORUKOZKAN ----- I dug this charger out of the mud in Oklahoma, where it had sat for 25 years rusting away. It was a 318, 3 speed manual with a console, weird combo... but it would still be there if I didn't spend cubic $'s to restore it. Now if the paint job hurts your gentile sensibilities, then make sure to buy it from my widow once I'm gone and paint it whatever damn color you want. More Chargers are restored because of the General Lee than any other reason... period... go pay for paint.

  • @turbosigns so. um when will your wife be a widow so i can buy it XD lol JK nice car,

  • @MiddleMadMen --- hopefully not too soon

  • @turbosigns hey, what engine?

  • @v8power200 ----- right now 383 with all the Ebrock bits minus carb... 700holley mech secondaries and a 2800 stall inthe 727. I do not like the Ebrock cam at all, you would need a 500 cube block or 410's in the rear with a 3500 stall to make it work right. I recommend a comp XE275HL cam if you're interested. My 451 stroker is at the machine shop right now, I hope to have it in soon!

  • @turbosigns so true!!! in my opinion its the general lee who made the charger so famous... i love that car its the most beautiful car in the whole world... lucky to have one.. awesome car man!

  • @DORUKOZKAN you fucking wanker

  • @Andries483 ---- hey now, play nice...

  • save it for scrap

  • sweet ride!! sounds like shes thirsty for some high octane lovin!

  • @noobsaibat I didn't know when they started putting cats on. I was just explaining to someone farther down the comments. My truck is an 82 so it has a cat... Er did, till I straight piped it. Shhhh

  • Lol...distributor is not that great?? Your abusing the car and then telling the parts wernt good enough... like flying a bike, the parts arnt made for abusing..

  • @Eldebruno ----- the reluctor was hangin loose and the power valve in the 650 demon was blown, among other things. I did not do the abusing, the shipping company took it for a joy ride.

  • 454 sounds better =) get rid of that 383

  • @chaoticdopey

A 454 is a GM engine. This is dodge.

  • I love how these kids keep talking trash about your car and you keep showing them up. Beautiful car man

  • @GT6213 ----- youtube seems to be overpopulated with highly opinionated experts that have alot to say... and they are often under the age of 21, so go figure. I try to keep my responces civil, but I have good days and bad days, sometimes I don't resond too nice, but oh well, they opened the door so I guess it's ok to stick my foot in there! Thanks for the vehicular admiration, it makes me feel good about all the work that goes into fixin it up... the 451 stroker is close now, stay tuned!

  • Awesome car! All these haters should shut up. Hope you have time/money to put in 451.

  • @DerbiSenda12345 ------ the 451 is in machine shop right now, the rotating assembly will be all balanced up and matched up to the block in 2 weeks... I hope it won't need mallory metal to balance, that would be big $'s.

  • what a work of art!

  • @fireballGER I believe you are referring to the catalytic converter or cat for short. Which on something this old I wouldn't be surprised if he took them off. I know here in Oregon anything from 1975 and older is exempt from DEQ (emissions testing) and all you have to do is have a safety inspections to get your tags renewed. Even though it doesn't run right still sounds pretty good.

  • @Basebal4life92 Uhh cats weren't placed on cars this old. They didn't really show til the late 70's.

  • @noobsaibat June of 1974 to be exact.

  • How much fuel do you spend every time you make a cold start? Here in the Netherlands fuel costs almost $9.00/gallon!

  • he is fool and cant drive

  • @h0us3m4n1a ---- you is fool, and cant form complete sentance

    -

Hey kid, quit runnin your mouth and show me your bad ass muscle car, or just meet me down by the lake this week end and I'll fix that chatter in your front end for ya!

  • somebody please find this cat someone that can tune a carb and maybe find a vacume leak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @cro0zer ----- did that loooong ago... 451 stroker almost finished. stay tuned...

  • ahahahaha man that engine is fucked up, even backed fired.

  • I see oil under the tail pipe

  • Very nice !

I love this sound and the revving !

It reminds me my mother 40 years ago when she was driving me at school in winter.

She had an old car with the same noise and she had difficulties to warm up it in order to go out the garage which was downside.

Could you do other videos with cold engine ?

    Sincerely

    Yann

  • Damn I can smell the exhaust fumes through my computer...

  • @jctill1982 ---- in all honesty the interior still reeks of raw fuel from just one short trip runnin like this!

  • that dosent sound to good bro! :( nice car though

  • when it backfires does it mess anything up?

  • @tjw240 I hope i get u right... backfire are not bad its to much unburned fuel that runs in the exhaust and fired up, when u have a car whit a (katalysator) i don´t now teh word in english, it could be that the ceramic in there brake by backfire..... but when u have no ( kat ) then it´s not that problem... it only runs to rich...

  • love that sound

  • thts one nasty soundin cam

  • timing is all fucked out sounds like some one fucked with the fireing order

  • sounds good tho.

  • how did they stuff up the ignition timing like that?

  • @qldkev ------- The mopar performance distributor may have been to blame, over spinning it may have just caused a weakness in the reluctor mount to show up. I do not recommend mopar performance distributors... go with Mallory if you got the $'s.

  • i'd be suing the pants off the shipping company

  • I would not want to be standing behind that car. Its tired and needs surgery.

  • You do realize that your after market carb has a cold start choke so you don't have to rap on the pedal in cold start right?

  • sounds like you need luke n bo to come tune her up !

  • VERY NICE CAR!!! When I read that shipping company did all that damage to your car I thought I'm gonna freak out, but then I read that you fixed it and it runs smoothly ^^

Good job fixing your car :D

    BTW: I'm jealous :D

  • PLEASE ANSWER THIS Q:why is your car smoking so bad? mine does the exact same thing (built car) what makes it do this?

  • I'm pretty sure we didn't the box to see it but yeah that didn't look good man

  • is the time ?

  • Dude, just stick the tranny in neutral and let it warm up a bit. That's what I have to do in the '67 Barracuda I drive.

  • no mosquito hahahah ! XD

  • no mosquito hahahah ! XD

  • I encourage you to not sell that car because in 20 years that car will be worth $800,000

  • @CNS792 i would never sell a car like that no matter how much people would offer for it.

  • my 73 ranchero does the same damn thing when its cold, annoying everytime and scares the shit out of me each backfire, i got a 351C .020 over with a holley 670 street avenger carb with MSD ignition, Weiand intake, mild comp cam. You got a nice car tho, what you got under the hood?

  • very sweet car but it sounds like it needs timing advanced abit, and some carb adjustments, also i can here shes runnin to rich, think i seen blue smoke to witch means normaly its oil witch is never good, also check out my 73 pinto vid shes a sweet car and very clean, for a pinto

  • looks like the dukes drove that one a few times then parked it in your garage shot.

  • Any neighbors?

  • Whatever it does, it is BEAUTIFUL

  • If the shipping CO. had done that to my car I'd find the forman and beat his face in!

  • Such a beautiful car

  • @ 0:36 secs totally sounds like a rotary

  • @Dodgedouglas ---- You really should check the back story before making comments like these... this is how I got it from the restoration house after the shipping company took it for a rubber shredding, cylinder glazing, high RPM joy ride. I have since done all I can with the 383 seen here and I have built a 451 low deck stroker at my machine shop but have no time to put it all together, that's life brother. Oh, and where do you want me to ship this car since I obviously don't deserve to own it.

  • @turbosigns. Sorry to hear about the abuse your car suffered at the shipping companies hands. I hope they're offering some sort of settlement for the damage done?

  • @turbosigns To my house please, I don't deserve to own it either, but it will be one hell of a downpayment on a new decked/fully loaded 5.0 mustang! lol :P

  • @turbosigns i'll take it if you dont want it. :D

  • @turbosigns you can ship it to me:)

  • @turbosigns Hey, don't take that comment too personally, he's just pissed because he doesn't have a car, that's all.** Nice car by the way and I hope it's running better for you. (:

  • @Dodgedouglas You're a FAG! Don't insult people when you can't even spell properly, it makes you look like twice the fool you already are. *shouldn't

  • @Dodgedouglas your just a jelous bitch who cannot afford one and probably watches re-runs of Dukes of Hazzard via yo mom's basment! This car is Bomb digity! So STFU bitch made punk!

  • Somtimes the backfiring is caused buy too much advance, bad powervalve, check all vacume ports. And all carb muscle cars have smoke(water in pipes burning off)on cold mornings.Never the less, very nice Mopar. Drive it often.I drive mine every day.Unless it snows. Selezen might be right. Did your car eat any imports lately?

  • nahh thats not a backfire, the general just has an upset stomach from the civic he ate last night.. damn that msg!

  • lol i would be @ work in this time :D

    concerto for the win!

  • Dude, I was considering shipping my car from Texas to NewYork...Not now! I will drive it....Sorry man.

  • Dude I was considering shipping my car from Texas to NewYork...Not now! I will drive it....Sorry man.

  • this is painfull enough . . .just put her down.. . . . .=( end her suffering. .

  • Something is wrong with the Lee in this one. FIX IT! Please.

  • Awh! i hate to see it like this!

  • Thats still a nice car, I've always wanted one, BTW the oldest honda I've seen was a 74 civic, that we drug out of the bushes because it blew the engine and trans in 94

  • there is something up in that car.. you shouldnt be running you dumb ass.. if it is smokin, chokin, and back firing

  • sweet car man sounds and looks badass too bad they messed it up but you said you fixed so thats good

  • Shipping company did a joyride in it? id be pissedddddd

  • Cool car but I think If it was mine I'd have a modern 6.1 fuel Injected HemI in it !

  • what mufflers do u have on him he sounds really good

  • sounds to me like there is no choke and the dam thing is cold............

  • Thats a beautifull car. It really takes some time to warm up the big engine. I am from Germany but I like Amercian muscle cars. Now I am owner of a Mustang 66

  • size engine are you running, and I think that a little more than just one day of abuse...

  • Nice car. Those damm power valves.I have had that happen a couple of times over the years with old holleys.

  • Looks like you need a new distributer and it also looks like your frame is bent. May be the camera, idk

  • wow man! its a shame such car like this has to be on the phase. shame on the people who treated badly this car.

  • Fuck the negative comments....its a running Charger!! Love the V8 sound!! Great vid upload!!

  • jajaj ke tranza ai cambiale las bujias codo jajaja

  • SOUNDS LIKE HE NEEDS A POWER VALVE

  • If you can afford the car you should be able to fix the minor problems... no?

  • honestly, it sounds like my two stroke boat motor..... its trash

  • Looks to me like YOU screwed up that motor by tapdancing on the throttle when its cold. Thats not your daddy's Camry!

  • @rockhead261 ----- My father drove a 1974 Chrysler Newport, before that he had a 1968 Chrysler Newport wagon, and before that a 1965 Chevy Malabu with dual quads... he never owned an import, ever. Oh, and just to be clear, I never exceeded 2000 rpm while blipping the throttle a tad, I guess I should lay off the 6200 rpm manual valve body 1-2 shift point while on my way to a high 13 second pass... but then I must also be an idiot.

  • @turbosigns serveeedddd

  • @turbosigns . Hes an idiot I had a 69 beetle deliverd from the same company and the same thing happend to my car, so that idiot knows nothing, But one quick thing about your general, your rims what color are they?

  • @turbosigns while I think rockhead is a idiot he does _almost_ have a point

then again I baby my motors until they hit 140f

  • @turbosigns excuse me, ur dope!

  • @rockhead261' Looks like YOU are fuckin dumbass, U wouldnt be able to tell the diffrence between ur ass or your mouth let alone who and how sombody screwed up a motor go cry to your mommy.

  • @rockhead261

Yeah, he's just blipping it dude. Nothing wrong with that.

  • @rockhead261 yea start it up and leave it run god lol

  • Comment removed

  • and most common oil smoke is from burnt rings

  • try bumping your timing up 6 - 10 degrees works good with bigger cams ... and to adjust carb turn the air mixture screws in til they bottom out .. back them out 2 an a half turns then adjust in til idle drops .. bring them out a half of turn after idle drops also make sure your getting plenny of vacume ... bigger cams usually take it all away if u dont have a extra vacum canister .. get one... solved my problems .. my 79 monte use to run just like this....this is how i fixed it ^

  • For Sale?

  • I hope that's origionally a crappy Charger and not an origional 440 Magnum or HEMI! Nice car, though. Mopar 4 life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :):):):)

  • @iambetterthanyoufool ----- I dug this charger out of the mud in Oklahoma, where it had sat for 25 years rusting away. It was a 318, 3 speed maual with a console, weird combo... but it would still be there if I didn't spend cubic $'s to restore it.

  • ohh my good!! this car and this sound is really really good and fantastic. I need a car like this :D:D General Lee forever!!

  • like a good neighbor state farm is there....

  • @ironredneck123 ----- No, no they are not... Insurance companies do not cover mechanical damage to an engine no matter who did the damage. Hagerty had the largest policy possible on this car, and I got a whopping $2.2k to fix $20k worth of damage. Pick up any Hagerty industry rag and see who their number one full page advertizing client is... yup, you guessed it, the same guys that did all this damage. Hmmm....

  • Do you have to do this to warm it up everytime you start it? Man I don't care what anyone says... You have a classic... And it is gorgeous... I would be in the drivers seat of this with a big fucking smile on my face.

  • Why dont yo dispute this with the shipping company

  • It´s still the nicest ASS on this planet!!!

  • That engine needs to be taken out and rebuilt! Some thing sure isn't right there.

  • @diowfj

    also i was thinking ...

  • i was wondering if u just bought the car or how long u have owned because i used to be a teenager and i have been a mechanic for over 12 years and i really dont think the shipping company did this to this car .1 it def has a timing issue 2 its cold so it will run like crap till it warms up 3 i seen the video of the unload it was older men not teenagers and looks like they haul nice cars every day .....so i would blame the guys that sold you the car ... i bet it warmed up when u test drove it

  • Did you ever get any kind of re
