@Gr1ff9 lol that's true. most of what society teaches actually goes like "don't bother anyone, but if someone bothers you, ask them to stop. If they don't, destroy them" (a little rule I learned from the Book of Satan. Thanks LaVey! :P). From what I can see Christianity is mainly about idealism. What Jesus would like to see from people, but which doesn't really work in society because people are either ignorant or unwilling to change themselves or help others. Thoughts?

@ApocalypseNow300 LaVey's mind was in the right place, but Satanism is just an anti-Christian statement. Paganism is the real deal for me. Christianity is pretty much a plagerisation of religions that came before. Jesus' life story is exactly the same as that of Egyptian God Horus. But as for the idealism of Christianity, it might not be very idealist at all considering the amount of people that shy away from confrontation.

@MadMageMadjinn well the Vikings weren't really about "standing up and fighting for themselves" (usually when I think of this I think of a man defending himself when he's being robbed)... the things that they did (looting, robbing, killing everyone in their way) was about survival (While the excessive drinking and raping of women was simply hedonism). I read that one critic's opinion of folk metal was that the melodies and polka/folk influences undermine the threat that is supposed to come from a Death Metal band. Contrasting his opinion, I think the folk elements really create a very unique sense of melancholy/rabberly. It sounds like something that would be playing in a mid evil/old west tavern full of rowdy fighters.
