  • Music doesn't "belong" to anyone....and it "belongs" to everyone. If you sing in the shower or whistle while you work, that song is yours.

  • Hell yeah bo

  • The title should be this way---> johnny cash and BRIAN JONES singing country roads, take me home

  • These two must be having so much fun! Amazing.

  • Lol! It's idiots like that joshbmx15 that make the rest of the world laugh at America. It's a shame that people just see xenophobes like him and not the decent, right thinking, real people in the US.

  • John and Johnny. Love you both.

  • Don't you mean communist? Just sayin

  • And people out side of "our country" are FUCKING COMUNISTS!!!! FUCK THE BRITS!!!! You guys are always pissed off so fuck you guys and have a nice day!!!!!

  • @rpolady1000 "Country music does not belong to America!" O, so enlighten us, then, to whom does it belong? American country singers are far better than any country artist outside the US. "Far better music ..." You're not a spokesman for anybody but yourself, so that's just another personal opinion like so many others.

  • This was truly a pleasure watching this video. Enjoyed it very much great combo

  • Great combination

  • @number1covers -yeah maybe the very young audience. remakes can't ever be better than the original. Sorry but you keep trying. Music today is nothing like the oldies, the critics also agree

  • @66blackdog: Better or worse is not important, as long as the covers are made with heart and soul and with respect for the original, but if you want an example of a cover that critics like better than the original(and so does the original artist) you should hear Jeff Buckleys cover of "Halleluja"

  • Thats the real music right there! I was raised on this stuff & I raised my kids on it too. To bad many greats from the past are gone, todays mainstream music just ain't cuttin it!

  • @69sackdog Actually modern music is much better than the oldies. Take my band's new "Country Roads" video, for example. Most people say it's even better than the original (and they're probably right).

  • @number1covers So what does better mean? It' s not just a about technical improvements, it about the heart and soul, in my opinion, that is. And there is a lot of heart and soul outthere. Both old and new bands do that

  • @sunkenfarts Yeah, I guess you could go back in time and say some caveman really played with a lot of emotion when he was banging two rocks together. But the truth of the matter is that instruments, recording devices, and song writing itself have all made drastic improvements in recent years. Again, my band's new "Country Roads" video is a good example of this.

  • Amazin duo; what a treat!

  • My 2 favorite artists together, I love it.

  • My favorite artists togh

  • I'm not a big country fan but I was raised on John Denver and I love Johnny Cash. Most of todays country fucking sucks!

  • i bet they sounded AWESOME together if they did have better mics back then shame but still awesome.

  • If only Denver was still around.

  • Two giants of country music...ENJOYED IT!!

  • Very Good !

Look also at my Channel !

  • I love American country music....

  • 18 are Taliban or to young to understand the spirit of Music

  • @rpolady1000. Hey now. We all have our own opinions. Like my opinion is that you are an effing moron. The fact you commented on this just to bash it shows how big of a loser you are and how uneventful your life is.

  • wish i could have been in on that jam

  • Such a cosy song!

  • LEGENDARY :O the of the best countrysingers in the world

  • good song

  • See if country was still like this today I would love it. Too bad modern country is just pop with a texas accent :( My generation sucks

  • Thats great.

  • wonderful gun...

  • "Country music belongs to America."

I'm italian, and when I start listening to the country music, I feel like I belong to America too.

This is the power of music. <3

  • @ClaireGoldxx agrees from Scotland

  • Comment removed

  • @ClaireGoldxx Got the same feeling! I'm from the Netherlands. Country & Western will always be THE music!

  • @ClaireGoldxx I'm Italian too and I feel just the same! what a wonderful feeling...

  • @ClaireGoldxx Don't ask me why, but I get the same feeling , over and over! That's the power of music!

  • @ClaireGoldxx anche a me fa lo stesso effetto.

  • @ClaireGoldxx sei un babbeo.

  • @ClaireGoldxx Country actually is quite the mix of several different immigrated instruments and musical influences, the italian mandolin for example.

  • This is actually really great, ... there are a bunch of shit fucks trying to play this on utube

  • (sigh) = )

  • I think I could make the sound more clear , If I manage to do that this will be re-uploaded !

  • actually, two of my favorites singers

  • ookej this two different voices are nog agree with eagother.

  • I'm trying to think of something that could make this more epic...coming up blank

  • He kinda sounded like a robot

  • @SonOfAiken

    What their Bot ded????

  • they had shitty phones to record stuff on way back then?

  • I love the song and I realy love these rock/counry legends! Their music will never die, all over the world people still love it! Greetings from Germany. :)

  • :O

    :)

    :D

That is all I can say.

  • Ich würde mich Schämen ein Video in so einer schlechten Qualität vom Ton auf YT zu Posten. :-(

  • Face, your defensive attitude and tacky cussing speak for itself. Your argument that rap is a culture and your immature beligerance only spark the dislike some people feel towards the "culture".

Miss the JD, JC genre. Class and actual talent all the way. Composers, singers...serious about their work.

I guess it's all about "relating" to the music...if you're angry and hate the world and all the good it represents, rap seems to be the "music" to look up to. Sad state we're in.

  • If only had not been so obsessed with aeroplanes we could have more of that beautiful singing voice, a tone and timbre that cannot be made by electronics.

  • Wait does John Denver finish folsom prison blues or is that the end? If he finishes the song can u send me the video or song. I Love both JD and JC. Thanks.

  • the song is so great i love this

  • John Denver, even though he played a Yamaha guitar (and Gibsons and Taylors among others), will always be associated with the Guild Guitar. I wonder if John Denver will be in either the Rock and Roll or Country Music Hall of Fame.

  • timeless song.....

  • John Denver starts singing Folsom Prison

    >adds to favorites

  • I have a very mixed bag of Musical likes and have been listening to Rap since it birth in the 70's but am a John Denver and Jonnie Cash fan...I can still remember the news of his death it hit me hard.

  • Iam 17 and i hate rap and crap like that kids on my school are just listening to what the others listen to they dont have a own mind:( to bad...COUNTRY IS THE WAY TO GO!!!!!!!

  • @sparcotiel shut up!!i listen to Rap/HipHop mainly form( 90's till 2002 ) and man i love john denver en johnny cash.. i love Tupac all the way to jeff buckley

  • @face237 who needs to shut up! i am a real country boy from Tennesee i didn't ask for a stupid comment like yours. i said that I hated rap and i said people on MY school don't have a mind YOU ARE NOT ON MY FREAKIN SCHOOL!!!!!!! AND YOU LISTEN TO COUNTRY ?????? so don't feel called upon.............

  • @sparcotiel you pissed me off cus you make it look like rap is horrible music... so yes i feel called upon

bashing another culture is a low thing to do just because you dont understand rap... so yeah fuck you!

  • I have never heard them sing together. John D. does great harmony with J.C. My life goes by so fast and people that I love to listen to are gone and have been for some time. Legends. I love this. Thanks.

  • No better mix then Denver and Cash!

  • Awww!

  • Wow what sweet tones between these two, I have never heard this before loved it Soo sad they are both now passed!!! Two class act's.

  • My two favorite "Johns".

  • @bettywhitedog1 same including john wayne :D

  • THIS is something! This is... everything! And everything is THIS!

  • Looking at this video, I realize that I'm looking at two men who are long gone. Two men whose legends live on through their enthusiasm...

How can anyone feel anything but love for these two fellows?

  • It brings a tear drop to my eyes just hearing them two singing together

  • two the the best singers now taken from earth up to heaven hope they r good and their music will live forever

  • im a 14 year old girl and i just came back from camp with the 'chiro'. yesterday evening we said goodbye to the people who are leaving and afther that we sang a lot of songs. we also sang this one at the campfire and if i listen to it now my eyes full themsefs with teares and i think off that awesome camp and the people we had to say goodbye to. i miss them allready <3

  • Great footage, thank you for posting this.

  • sound sucks.

  • early elvis

  • whats the name of the song at 2:30 min?

  • Comment removed

  • ahh i love this harmony they do together!!!!!!

  • Two American legends. RIP.

  • @abuzinnar They both died??!?! :'(

  • We're from WV and this song always reminds me of my fave uncle.

He enjoyed the song so much but a few months after it came out

he died suddenly from a stroke.

Anybody else remember how different America was back then?

We were still in 'Nam but our Bill of Rights was still intact and the

banksters still hadn't robbed us blind. No "Homeland Security",

"Patriot Act" or TSA perverts feeling up women & kids at the airport.

Got to get this TRAGEDY squared away before we LOSE IT ALL!

  • @GooglFascists I AGREE LIFRE HAS CHANGED SO MUCH, WE ARE LOOSING THE ROADS.

  • @GooglFascists

    I totally agree to that!

I'm from Germany and we have the same shit here as well.

I'm just 19 years old but I know from my parents how different it was a few years ago.

They may had no internet and mobilephones back then, but they had a future..

And they had good music! God damnit what do we have? Justin Bieber and all this autotune music with no sense but money, bitches and having sex.

Thank God I found that Johnny Cash CD in our attic when I was 13 years old!

    R.I.P Johnny..

  • @GooglFascists AMEN!

  • @GooglFascists Agreed! This is one of my favourite songs to play on guitar and always lifts my heart, makes me think of blue skies, fresh air, and well..... country roads! It's sad to think how the US has gone, basically the government seems to have started treating the people like minors, like children that can't be trusted to think for themselves, or simply as the 'enemy' that need to be managed by robot-like and 'security experts' like sheep!

  • D-

Copy this video on DVD... or make sure your Dad (AKA: Eddie Lucero) can see this in his home.

    JUST DO IT!

    Lov ya,

    A-

("Happy Father's Day",... to ME! )

  • I'm crying right now...

  • @MNMJJ92 The music lives in you.

  • Tear in eye

  • <3

  • This song is epic. That's all you can think about it. That it's epic.

  • Too bad the audio isn't so great -- they both have great voices, and they could both sing this song brilliantly in their own right, but with a totally different feeling.

I love JD, but he's not so convincing as a prisoner in Folsom Prison as JC!

  • Johnny Cash....... EPIC

  • can u post the rest of this jd special it is one of my favorite specials that my idol jd did thanks if u c it was up here at one time but it was sadly removed

  • PURE

    EPICNESS

  • <3 simply <3

  • big smiles :D

  • Classic.................thank you

  • The most beautiful that I saw In my entire life....

  • I never really got Johnny Cash until I was an adult, but then JESUS

  • @xkcman I still dont get Johnny Cash,, I think he is the country version of the Beatles and you have to like him because everyone tells you to, but the reality to me personally is that he was a neat guy who sang boring songs to the same train rythm.. a Marty Robbins, Keith Whitley or Jim Reeves had much more talent, just didnt wear black and flip people the bird.. my opinion only,, but I think he and June sound Karoeke gone bad...

  • @flycentro123 Johnny Cash was a story teller, Johnny Cash is the Grandpa we all wish we had, Johnny Cash was the last real cowboy, Johnny Cash reminds us all to care, Johnny Cash reminds us all to not take any shit, Johnny Cash reminds us what it really means to be a christian, Johnny Cash reminds us why dyst on our lips from the dirt road is a good thing, Johnny Cash was a shit kicker, a drug abuser, a name taker, a lover and a fighter. A little Johnny Cash can be found in us all. Thats Y

  • @gotrump2012 maybe you brother not me.... but I dont like my singers because they make up things in my own life that Im not... Ive been or are all the things you mentioned and just like good music....

  • @flycentro123 well there aint a damn thing wrong with his music. People love him for the same reasons they love Dylan... His stories and music transend generations.

  • @gotrump2012 good luck with all of that brother...

  • @flycentro123 to each their own but to say keith whitley had more talent than john cash is like saying new kids on the block had more talent than the rolling stones(since you may not like the beatles). i love keith whitley and wish he wasn't gone but to compare him to cash is just ludicrous.

  • @wantsomecoffee point taken..

  • @flycentro123 I see your point, lol, well put!

  • Johnny Cash used a John Denver song in the Gospel Road, and John had the sweetest revenge in singing Folsom Prison Blues, and they confronted each other for Country Roads, and the end result is one of the best versions of the song that I have ever heard. Anyone agree?

  • Man, I love how John Denver takes the high harmony on the chorus of the first song. I'd give my eye teeth to have seen this firsthand. Great find.

  • RIP Legends

  • goosebumps

  • words cant describe this

  • People, Granule is an obvious troll...do not feed him!

  • johnny cash :)

  • wow this are two great men who did this for us i do not care what other people say or post i like making nice commets john denver is the best so is johnny cash miss you two you were the best .

  • hippies!

  • they would have sounded awsome if i were in the middle, bridgin the gap between two of the greatest singers youve ever heard, and the one we all know who we are.

  • They're both great, but I don't think they sound too good singing together.

  • I've watched this video like 10 times now and it never gets old. Two fantastic musicians.

  • Wonderful and Great Video

Thank You Very Much John Denver and Johnny Cash

  • Wow.

  • yes haha

  • this is awesome

  • My two fav singers! Two very different styles but both could sure as hell tell a story in their own way. Fantastic to see them both together. Not everybodies cup of tea but if you dont like it then go else where!

  • @theGranule what type of music do you like? I am not trying to get into

a argument with you I am genuinely curious and would like to know what you think is good. I am a musician/songwriter and have played in different types of bands ranging from metal. punk, country, jazz, and have never met anyone who does not love Johnny Cash. Even people that are into hip hop like Johnny Cash. He is loved and respected by people and musicians of all ages and backgrounds, you are definitely one of a kind.

  • @severevoid Johnny Cash had a wonderful voice. I first listened to his songs way back in Sri :Lanka in 1959 and in 2011 still love to listen to him singing. We miss you dear friend and you are missed by the whole wide world. He will be in our hearts for ever.

  • @severevoid quality transcends genre

  • @severevoid Funny you should say that. You are right. Anytime I am at a lost for something to say, if I ask if the person likes Johnny Cash, I always get a yes and that starts another conversation.

  • Comment removed

  • 12 people lives in the city

  • @sisures Lol

  • Awesome, shows Denver trying to harmonize with Cash since he has such a deep voice. I really like this version, shows John Denvers ability to adapt.

  • anyone know where they are singing this? Im assuming west virginia, but is it really? Is it either of their land?

  • i got goosebumps while listening to this and Johnny started to sing!

  • Where did you find this?!

Wow, what big ol' kick in the pants fun!

    Thank you :-)

  • john denver and johnny cash

    rest in peace

    honor whom honor is due

  • Great Song

  • 12 people suffer from rectal cranial inversion.

  • helll ya, i live in west virginia, im proud to live here, wouldent rather live anywhere else, idc if its a mascion on the beach side id rather live here in the mountains.

  • Kenny, what's wrong is pointing out the obvious.

As Cash aged his somewhat mediocre voice got worse and worse. I bet none of you have any of his albums, mostly because they are nearly unlistenable.

The problem with country music fans is that the get caught up with emotion and forget to use their minds and ears. If a person gets a record out to the country fans it is a sure thing that no matter how pitiful their singing they will have a lifetime of wealth. Sad.

  • @TheGranule Actuality you are missing the obvious. Cash wasn't about a slick, polished act. There are voices who sing songs other people write and then there are a few like Cash who could do it all. He was HUGE in that he crossed over between the old country crowd and the young 60's and 70's kids.

Cash did things no average country singer ever accomplished. You can talk smack about his voice all ya want but his words united folks no one else could bring together.

  • @TheGranule Maybe it's because the music means something to them, deeper than the voice. Cash's voice wouldn't be HALF as powerful in "Hurt" if it was what it used to be. You know nothing about music.

  • @TheGranule I have most of his later albums if you listen you can hear the pain and roads he felt and walked down, the man lived a legend died a legend will always be a legend,

  • @TheGranule i listen to rap and not bullshit nowadays rap and i have every single johnny cash album and he made some really good songs before he died so dont say his voice got worse

  • beautiful =)

  • this is why youtube kicks butt!.. epic stuff for everyone! :)

  • This song, any version sung with anybody, always makes me cry. I miss both of these fine artists.

  • @TheGranule You cunt. Sorry, had to be said.

  • @JacktheBeard I agree!

  • @WilliamRNewmanJr Ha ha. I just got to defend Johnny!

  • @TheGranule well i'm not gunna say what that other idiot said but country roads isn't a good song for him to sing with his voice. it's just not a good fit for such a deep voice i guess but it's awesome to see both of these guys sing together

  • @devilspjh Actually it's a decent song if he sings it alone. The problem here is two guys who sing in completely different ranges and keys. It's the two singers who don't fit. Anyone can change a song to fit their key. If you pay attention, you see that Denver isn't singing the song the way he normally did. This is the two of them trying to find common ground.

  • @thechurchofdave yep i think you're right. they may have both been born to sing, but not necessarily together.
