  • Great song, still, Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon is much deeper music expression.

  • Where can I buy this song? Is there a CD with this song? Too bad that this wonderful song did get chance to be performed at the Beijing Olympics.

  • oh wait?

so there was a competiton top pick this song kinda like they had here for our eurovison entry

  • OMG AMAZING! I am in love with this song! Is this song released on CD. I want a copy!

  • Great song!

  • Jane Zhang, however, is a true bright star. Shame she did not get to perform. David Foster, the other member of the composer team, absolutely loves Jane's amazing singing voice.

  • Is your story really true? Would Tan Dun really do such a thing? Wouldn't he stand to benefit more if the song is picked?

  • If his song is picked, but on the condition that he has to surrender the copyright, and without any participation in royalty (which is the standard deal for all song entries), then commercially, he saw little benefit, since he is ALREADY famous (at least in his own view).

  • Don't mean to doubt you, but really hard to believe! If it is standard, he should have known long before the event. Maybe there is a more plausible explanation?

  • He knew beforehand. As with all superstar, he was going to request special consideration, because he is currently the ONLY Chinese composer which has international acclaim, no less than an Oscar. He discussed at length with David Foster on the profit sharing issue even before submission.

  • Thank you for your answer.

  • In fact, Sarah Brightman was invited to sing at the Opening Ceremony only TWO weeks before the ceremony, and even when she landed in Beijing, she had no idea what song she would be singing. Everything was rush rush in the last minute because of the negotiation breakdown between BOCOG and Tan Dun.

  • The Beijing Organising Commttee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG)did not murder this song. This was the winning song picked in April 2008. However, Tan Dun, one of the two composers of this song, insisting on NOT following the rule that requires the surrender of copyright to BOCOG. Negotiation went on for many months, until it broke down days before the Opening Ceremony. So, "You and Me" was quickly chosen in the last minute.

  • This is so unfortunate. I would rather have this song performed at the Beijing Olympics than the other song. This is a much better fit song for the ocassion.

  • Way better than the babyish lullaby 《you and me》, but the self-serving Olympic directorate murdered it in cold blood. What a shame!

  • I love this song. I think that this one should have been used. I adore Sara Brightman but the power of this song does something for me that "You and Me" didnt do. I love the part in this video where Andrea and Veronica are hugging and its sooo romantic.

  • This is a truly beautiful song! Much better than "You and Me" IMHO.

How could Mr. Chen Qigang, as the music director of the Beijing Olympics, pick his

own song instead? What a scandal!!

  • I totally agree with you, what a scandal!!!

It was interesting to hear Andrea sing not only in Chinese (not Mandarin that is a Govt. offical) but harmony as well. Well done both Andrea and Jane.

  • I totally agree with you (Tina456789123).

    What a scandal...

  • I cant believe that this song did not win. It is much better than You and Me

  • though i appreciated you and me...i find what you say so true...I didn't get any feel out of you and me at all and trust me I tried to feel.

  • que paso? aparecio sarah brigthman!!

  • THis is the best one so far

  • i believe this is the theme song at last

  • Can someone PLEASE explain to me if the Beijing Olympics committee has chosent the theme song? There are so many on youtube. Are these main entries??

  • so far the official Olympic Relay song has been chosen...Light the Passion, share the dream, but so far, no the Official Olympic song has not been selected, though at this point I believe they should be choosing from the top 10 of all these songs.

  • This is truly a heavenly song, I find the Chinese version is much moving than English. Well done Tan Dun!!!

  • Leah remains my most favorite Filipino singer! I take pride of my Nationality as a Filipino with regard to her as a fine artist that she has always been! My dream is also to showcase to the world that Filipinos are worthy of being recognized as the country with humongous contributions to arts and music. Impossible as it may seem but I certainly hope for a day to come that I'll be able to be coached by none other than the legendary Leah herself...hahaha dream on Mr.Hutch Perales

  • i dont like tun dan compose pop msuic . someone must stop what he is doing

  • i prefer Tan Dun's more tradicional harmonies. I know this is not his work mainly, his music is more emotional, deeper than this.

  • This is a very beautiful and soul-stirring song as though I hear God and angels are singing to the world cherish for "Love", "Hope" & "Life". Yes.. Beijing should consider using this as the theme song through-out the entire event! The best of all...

  • bravo

  • I hope so too! Great song, great singers & uplifting lyrics!

  • i do also. this is a great song.

  • I hope they sing it at the opening ceremony at Beijing!
