dude you missed a lot of things like the wrap inside the windshield for water spray absortion, a sponge in the exhaust... (well in your case a 250 couldn't suck any water drop) and i dunno but you missed a lot of things you don't say anything about polishers or leather treatments it's sure that a 250 doesn't need a lot of love, but men there are thousands of people with bigger bikes who need those explanations and please... don't speak off the range of the microphone ¬¬ that's a bad idea
Wow sponges on the floor, pick that grit up and scratch that paint. I wish my bike was that clean when I go to clean it. England in winter is crap for keeping bikes clean. Takes 1 - 2 hours just to do a average clean up with loads of degreasers brushes. Just to let you know pressure washers are ok to use, but get cheap ones with low power.
You can get muffler plugs at any bike shop I've been to that are cheap and well worth the few bucks they cost in my opinion. I like the first-person perspective of your video but yeah, kinda dizzy now. Maybe a tripod and external mic next time. Good vid though!
how often do you wash your bike? when rainy or muddy seasons.. mud is a daily problem to me i have to wash it of daily or every 2 days or rust might stick on the metal parts.
Dude, I couldn't bear to complete watching this movie! I thought you'd put the camera on a tripod and crack on with cleaning, not give us a tour of your garage, bike and talk for 6 minutes!
I like how you're in full riding gear to wash your bike. safety first lol. Thanks for all the vids, They've been very helpful to a noob like myself btw.
@Hardboi01 fairy liquid is very abrasive and contains high amounts of salt which can corrode your bike after long term usage but when i used to use it the bike does sparkle!!! autoglym products are awsome tho!!!!
1st off never put your sponge on the ground, you are asking to pick up dirt and turn that sponge into sand paper. 2nd try using dollar store Fake Pledge or the real citrus pledge instead of that shit you are using.
@HasJuice: I seriously doubt it. At the rate he's going, we'll all be flying around on our hoverbikes by the time he gets the bike wet. Brevity is a virtue.
damn cant a person talk about it for noobs. must not be because you are the all seeing all knowing king of dushes. hes doing a instructional video you dushe
@robm425 get over it, you an every one else who posts these stupid comments about not putting your sponge or towel on the ground ever. so f*** dumb he picked it up and squeezes all the water out he clearly makes sure theirs no rocks in it. its not that hard stop making such a big deal about this it pisses me of so much !!!
haha bar and tug. Nice vid! Inspires me to clean my bike, if only i wasn't on water restrictions and could use a hose to clean a vehicle... The joys of living in the worlds largest desert.
Dish washing liquid is very good at removing fat from dishes. It doesn't distinguish between fat on dishes and the protective layer of wax on your paint work. Once that wax has been removed, many washing liquids contain abrasives which will leave tiny scratches on the paintwork. Over repeated washes this will lead to the paint becoming dull. So unless you have VERY gentle dish washing liquid and you re-wax after every wash, don't use it - use Car/bike shampoo
No, as long as your not leaving it drenched or pointing the pressure washer straight at them... just avoid close contact with those sort of things, Inc tyre valves. I mean they are designed to be in contact with weather.... its no different to getting caught in the rain :)
Hey, you got some good videos. One thing I would point out is that its not good to use a sponge because youll get swirls where it just pushes the grit around. I use a micro fibber cloth (or 2) in stead. Sponges are fine for wheels, swing arm etc. (I know you said not to use a pressure washer, but I think, as long as your not stupid with it or use an industrial size one there great).
Bucket, warm soapy water (with car shampoo of some sort), Sponge, Pressure washer (wide+Fine spray), several micro fibber cloths (2 for wet + 2 for drying + 1 for polish/wax), spray wash (I use a mix of Muckoff, washing up liquid, car shampoo and water) & spray on wax (great stuff)
First of all give the whole bike a spray down with the pressure washer to get any lose dirt off.
With your bucket of water mix and sponge, wash all round your tyres, wheels, swing arm, forks etc. and leave soapy.
Using your wet micro fibber cloth, cover all faring and painted areas with you water mix. This will get any oil, bugs etc. off. And then using the pressure washer, rinse all soap off (including any on your wheels/tyres)
Then with your spray mix, spray all you fairing and tank & leave for a few moments.
After a few moments, wash off all excess soap etc.
(I will usually start my engine up at this point for a min or so to clear/dry exhaust etc. )
Now with your dry cloths (leaving one free and clean for polishing) go over all parts of your bike a dry thoroughly (I will usually keep one for bottom half and one for top).
You could go over your wheels at this point with a dry cloth just to get any final break/road/oil muck off them. Same goes for exhaust and any other parts alike.
Once every thing has dried, get you spray wax and final cloth and working in sections, work around the bike spraying and polishing in the wax on all fairings and tank (This is where it really shines and its not hard!!!)
The only thing to do now it to give every thing a once over, re-lube and make sure she runs
is it possible to wash it with that thingy people with cars use.. (sry, i'm not english, so i don't know the name, lol) or does that destroy the bike in any way? maybe it's too hard? it costs money tho, or do you HAVE to do it like this?
Another reason to spend a few minutes washing a bike by hand is from a safety aspect. Whilst washing you are more likely to spot problems like badly adjusted chains, nails in tyres, loose bolts, worn cables, etc.. A little maintenance often is better (and cheaper!) than a lot of maintenance less frequently.
hehe you should put a sprayer or something on to stop the flow of water on your hose, its wasting... anyways nice tut i usually just rinse with water and dry it with a micro cloth
nice pretty thorough vid. kudos. what state do you live in? i'm in nj, and my bike is winterized like a bitch. it's starting to get around 50-60 degrees though, so it's time to bring 'em out.

You say that the gauges on the dash board are not water resistant. So, what happens if the rain starts while you driving far away from home?
TrueOptimist 2 years ago
Bikes are built with rain in mind, a bike can withstand any amount of rain I'd say.
but I like to be careful if I'm shooting water from a hose onto the components on the handlebars - the gauges are fully water proof I'd say
