Being a friend of a couple of police officers and working with my local union President (CUPE) I can tell you that the DP guy is just trying to make a living. christian is a very serious and passionate actor, it is the reason why he's such a good one. i would get angry too if someone was to disrupt my focus, acting is not that easy, some has what it takes and many do not.. he's the kind of guy that gets deep into a character and it must a shock to be snapped from it like that. cursing and screaming is just letting lose his frustration but poor DP...
That's why I have respect for athletes. It's hard to catch a ball, swing at a ball, make a basket, etc. when 30,000 fans are screaming for you to fuck up. There are no do-overs, and everyone is watching you when you mess up. That's pressure. Most don't act like divas, and the ones that do are called out. Bale reads scripted line from a page. the DP did it at least twice already and that scene is one of the hardest one to act for Bale. While Bale was ranting, the DP keeps on talking trash as well. Unfortunately for Bale, he has the mic near him and we can't hear the DP. it must really be a very bad day for him.

Any PROFESSIONAL who works in a team environment knows not to walk through an actor's eyeline when he's giving what may well be his best reading of a scene. That is a golden rule of film production. The fact it appears to have happened more than once without the director noticing is amazing!

Even if the DP is in the wrong there was NO NEED to act like this! It shows that clearly Bale does not have the acting skill to ignore someone walking in front of him. If he walked behind the camera I'd understand, but yelling at a DP is like blaming the camera for being in front of you. Bale made the Joker look civillized after this!

the DP did it at least twice already and that scene is one of the hardest one to act for Bale. While Bale was ranting, the DP keeps on talking trash as well. Unfortunately for Bale, he has the mic near him and we can't hear the DP. it must really be a very bad day for him.

Guys Christian Bale is not completely in the wrong. He did overreact but the guy kept walking in on his scene. It is hard to act when some moron keeps walking in on your scene. Christian Bale is about 60% in the blame here. He overreacted but alot of it was deserved.

If Bale had any talent at all, he would be able to shoot that scene with the skis falling down around him. He apparently needs a few years of theater to condition himself. There are cast and crew visible from every angle while on stage. Not to mention the audience. Back stage can be a flurry of activity from the cast changing, the crew staging the next scene, people dropping things yet, somehow, these true professionals manage to never miss a beat. Bale obviously does not have that experience.

Any PROFESSIONAL who works in a team environment knows not to walk through an actor's eyeline when he's giving what may well be his best reading of a scene. That is a golden rule of film production. The fact it appears to have happened more than once without the director noticing is amazing!
Bale is 100% right to take the wanker to task- the very fact this creature has somehow got to work on a major picture is beyond me; it's just a shame the director has left Christian to do his job for him.

Too bad that he didn't legitimately "upbraid" him.. there's a better way of telling somebody who's made the mistake of walking into a scene "multiple times"... but Mr. Bale in his amazing awesomeness feels he is justified in threatening (remember he said "ill kick your fuckin ass") and harassing this DP... why?? cuz he's a widely recognized celebrity? This just goes to show how serious he takes his movies. Like Equilibrium, Batman Begins/Dark Knight, American Psycho... he's fucking phenomenal.
Am I agreeing to how he reacted? No... I don't think he should have lashed out at him but who knows? None of us here are professional actors I'm assuming. I can imagine though, while you're doing a scene and you see some guy walking around, it could be annoying...

There is no argument there, Christian Bale is a talented actor. Even when the movies aren't good, he does a good job in them like the new world, or i'm not there <--(i could not finish that movie, it was so boring). But the point of my message wasn't whether or not he's a good actor, its whether or not his actions should be justified. He is known to have a "temper-tantrum" and a few people are reacting with "i'm no longer going to watch his movies" however, that won't solve anything.

Your on a tour of a movie studio.They take you to something being filmed in progress. They ask you to be quiet and stay still. Do you A) Stay still and Be Quiet or B) Walk around like an asshole? When a scene is being filmed you stay still simple as that. You sure as hell dont check the lights and interrupt a scene TWO times! I love how people are hating on bale like they never blow up EVER. We all do in our lives and I guarantee we aren't being interrupted filming a multi million dollar movie.

There's a fine line between reprimanding and blowing up. It would have been ok if he'd just said to the guy "it's really distracting" but throwing the F word around like that and just EXPLODING on the man, isn't exceptable. Yes, it does happen. Yes, people get aggravated. Yes, people make mistakes. Yes, it's ok to tell them not to. But it is not ok to go off like that.

This movie was filmed what, 2 years ago? And this is just coming out now. What is it...2 weeks untill the movie comes out. So the sound guy held on to that clip for 2yrs just to boost ticket revenue. That's pathetic. And even worse, all you simpletons are getting a kick out of it.
