  • I went to see that elevator in 1972 when i was stationed at McConnell AFB, and i measured it and sure enuff 1/2 mile long!

  • Nice elevator. I'm from Buffalo, NY and there are many large grain elevators on the Buffalo River. All but one (General Mills Cereal) have long been abandoned since the railroads made the old Mississippi/Great Lakes Grain Route obsolete. Abandoned since the 30's, these huge buildings are an awesome spot to play Paintball and bring the ruckus!

  • @aaronrocs Enid, Oklahoma is called the wheat capital of the world. There are so many of these huge grain elevators on the north side of the town. I lived there for a long time and every time I would drive by them it was like I wasn't moving at all because they are so massive.

  • @aaronrocs Half a mile long! Incredible. I'm from Buffalo also. To bring you up to date, there are actually four elevators in full operation on the Buffalo River. Plus one that has been converted from grain storage to cement storage. General Mills has two separate elevators in operation in their complex. Pillsbury's elevator is still operating on St. Clare St. & the Lake & Rail Elevator re-opened last year. But you're right many were abandoned & remain that way waiting to be reclaimed.

  • pan up. pan left. repeat untill story is over.
