Modern building technology originated in the west and it developed without Feng Shui. East was mainly under-developed where Feng Shui was practiced. The people in the east gradually imitated the west's technology and style like everything else and they also became 'modern'. Now they are exporting Feng Shui - which couldn't even help them - to the west and the fools in the west swallow them without water.

@carlaowa Great question! Wall color depends on YOUR favorite color. When there is a lot of dark (or black furniture) in a room, it is your responsibility to bring 'light' in. Whether it be windows, linens, lights or paint. I love the brighrt greens of this Spring Season. Image the drama of your black furniture against a wall of large white & green pattern. Oops. I've got some really poor feng shui in my bedroom. Walls painted to remind me of a thunderstorm, & distressed wood/wicker, bed against wall, directly in front of the door. LOL & although I agree completely w/closet door being closed, I enjoy sleeping w/doors open. We use the one that goes through the bathroom, but I live in a little cottagey house, & there are double doors into the living room & when no one else is home, I open those, too. Feels really cozy, somehow, to me.
