  • I mainly pblay down at the tavern which has an old table with slight napping on the cloth and other defects. Many times no matter what you try it is always off. I will say though the table is level. Would love to have room for a good table at the house. Have to move the wife out I guess. lol

  • @randallpaulcom

Sometimes, you just need to adjust speed or the English amount to make the system work. You can also just use a comfortable speed and English and see how much correction is required on a given table. If the table is real crap, the system might not be helpful.

    Table vs. wife ... that's a tough one. :)

  • was wondering if you can hit an object ball in the path of what the white ball takes and make it in the corner or not because I been trying and it always goes long. or is this only used for trying to kick a ball into the corner pocket or up along the rail

  • @computerbrent

You can certainly use the system to accurately kick at balls away from the rails, but you need to have a good feel (through practice) for the path the CB takes off the 2nd rail, and you need to use the appropriate speed and English for the shot.

  • Dude you rock!!! These have really helped out 10 fold.

  • @digimortal401

Thanks for the comment. You're welcome!

  • Does this work if u hit long rail first?

  • which size does the table have to be? or has it got the same effect on every table?

  • @Apoproegmena

The diamond systems work on tables of any size; although, results do vary some with ball/cloth/cushion conditions. The benchmark reference shot helps you determine how to adjust (with speed and/or English) on a particular table.

  • @DrDaveBilliards

    okay, thank you!

  • @Apoproegmena

    You're welcome!

    I aim to squerve,

  • I'm trying this at the pool hall tomorrow. I'm usually got with banking, but at the moment I'm just playing with my guts. Combining it with a system should take my game to a whole new level. Thanks a bunch!

  • VEPS-IV explains and demonstrates many different aiming systems for various types of kicks and banks. If you want to use more than your "guts," you might want to check it out.

  • @DrDaveBilliards Cool!

BTW, I was watching this Mosconi Cup match and you could use this system with a bank at "Mosconi Cup 2009, Day 1 - Match 2 - Part 5 of 7" @ 6:17

If I'm getting this correct, Appleton is aiming through approx. 1.75 diamonds on the long rail, which makes him shooting towards that 1.75 spot on the short rail as well (because he wants to aim almost for the center of the corner pocket where the four sits) with top-left spin -- just as in your video.

  • That's a great example. Thank you for posting it.

As I show in the video, the speed and amount of English are important. Appleton has obvious practiced these types of shots.

  • I tried this on my home table and it was consistently off by 1 diamond. Being Plus 2 instead of Plus 3. I think it was because I have a "bar table" that is 40" by 80" instead of the "standard table" that is 50" by 100". Is that true ?? If so it would be nice if in the future you could make some comment about lessons that work differently on different size tables. Be even nicer if you could give 2 versions of a lesson like this, one for the standard table and one for the bar table.

  • Every table will "play" differently. The key is to find the necessary first-rail aim point for the reference shot, and to determine which diamond off the third rail goes to the pocket. Everything else is defined relative to that.

The formula for predicting the third rail diamond should work pretty well on most tables. Have you tested this out? Check out the video again and figure out the reference diamonds for your table. Also, try the formula.

    I hope that helps,

    Dr. Dave

  • That's an awesome system! Have been struggling to get the feel for two rail kicks but never really got hold of it. Got to take this to the table and practice it. Thanks again for all your great videos!

  • Thanks. It does take practice, and the speed and amount of English are important, but it is a very useful system.

    Good luck with your game,

    Dr. Dave

  • can wait to buy it, youve truly made billiards history!!

No one will ever be able to make a more comprehensive research on pool.

  • Thanks a bunch. I hope everybody agrees with you.

Please help spread the word about VEPS.

    Cheers,

    Dr. Dave
