Zimbardo justifies his SPE. Zimbardo (Authority) and his staff (Soldiers) were preforming in their roles as experimenters the very thing the experiment was studying. These were not human innocent students, to them they were case studies.
Well yes, but the whole experiment Zimbardo did suggests he probably would have tortured them anyway, even if they were Americans, because the whole social situation would have encouraged him to do it.
The point is that any of us could be made to do the same thing. Its not a nice to know about ourselves.
I think as Americans we are trained from birth to think we're better than everyone else, not just in the world, but in the whole historyof humankind.
