If you watch the live version of this song. You see the guitar player stand with the voice box in his mouth when he does the solo, the voice box is attached to the microphone. The guitar signal is sent into his mouth and he can pretty much bend and twist it, and produce those wah-wah type of effects also. It was a pretty cool little device. Joe Walsh used to use one of these things to.

@247lethal: I believe that sound is coming from a device called a 'voice box' and maybe combined with a comb filter. It could also be just a 'voice box' you don't see a lot of guitar players using them anymore, but they were popular when this song was recorded.

@247lethal It's a Heili Talk Box. First he plays with some harmonics and his tremolo bar and moves into the Talk Box. Danelectro makes a version that is real simple to set up and doesn't shock the piss out of you if your mouth touches the mic. =)
