@zyph4lights No...just amazed of what articles and media can change peoples minds and how we always look backwards instead of actually doing something useful and how and this infectious ways of thinking really show at seemingly irrelevant stuff just like you answer. Entitling yourself over me by saying get a life...when in fact you are doing exactly what you criticize...if you have the time to answer to someone who doesn't have a life...i guess you're fucked.
@thehornypuppy dude what do articles and media have to do with what i think of chris cornells voice? and im only on this site like once every 2 days at the most none of what you said in your reply had anything to do with the argument, you just randomly started spouting bullshit to sound intelligent and you will lose if you want an intellectual argument so...fuck you
@zyph4lights terminology...i really hate that now it was a "Grunge scene". Those were really fucking great bands that are just called grunge or alternative because some idiot in a magazine named them so. And fuck yeah...the music was great back then but if we keep looking backwards...why the hell do yu think no good music comes out now? We are to busy sucking Deep Purples dick...so to speak.
@thehornypuppy haha i see wher your gettin at i understand im sorry to have come off as hostile...im not into the whole grunge scene because once they become famous they are no longer grunge they are just another mainstream band and soon they will sellout just like greenday or slipknot...im not sayin we need to concentrate only on those old bands, im just sayin that music was 3x better in the 90s than today and we need to stop that...AND FUCK YOU TOO...for no reason
Chris Cornell, and Eddie Vedder, are the only ones from the Seattle Grunge scene that have survived. Silverchair is not at all the same any more, so I dont really consider them a surviving Seattle grunge band. Among the four most influential grunge singers, let us never forget Layne Staley, and Kurt Cobain, who with Chris Cornell, and Eddie Vedder, gave us all the best grunge songs ever.
@newtielittle1 how does silverchair evan enter your chain of thaught in reference to seattle grunge bands? they were just another copy cat band that had nothing to do with that scene, not to mention they were like 3 years to late and from a different country lol. Silverchair is embarrassing.
@newtielittle1 nope, I believe Silverchair got straight onto DGR, thanks to sounding like a Nirvana rip off band. Soundgarden were only on Subpop early on in their career. They moved to STT records in 1988, with home they released their first album "Ultramega OK", before moving permanently to A&M records in 1989.
I'm not sure what label Pearl Jam started on, but it was a big one, not an indie label like Subpop
I mean, hes like 44 years old in this vid right?! 20 years of rock and roll performances will take their toll. listen to axl rose. and look at him. chris is a fucking badass compared to axl, at least in terms of longevity.
impossible. god damn. can we please note that some of the bands that Failed were about sixty times better than today's bands? where are black lab and buck cherry? COME on.
@TheAngrySandwich I like how optimistic you are! Unfortunately most songs on mainstream radio are not as good as this one.. but there are still a few good gems!
He is a sellout. You just cant do artistic music in soundgarden and go with timbaland, you just cant. Even the papers in Seattle are calling him a sellout. I loved soundgarden but now, with youe great voice you are just going for money, there is no love for music and your fans in you. Just money. This is the same as if Kerry King would join Johnas Brothers, god damn it.
its not as bad as you are portraying it. but i agree with you. Soundgarden was amazing and so is Audioslave. i agree with you cause he just recently put out a relatively poppy album. but he has mellowed out somewat because he has a family now too. but i think he still loves the music. regardless this song right here is one of the best songs of the 90's
@katz047 but timbaland is a great producer, for his genre. I think he's trying something new. He's already so talented in his genre, nothing wrong with trying something different, even though it's so mainstream.
biggest song of the 90s was......and i hate to say this as im not a huge fan.....just check out my favs to verify this........Wonderwall by OASIS....the return of musicians and well witten songs to popular music. Mind u anything was better than the one armed one legged drummer of Techno music. even gurge
it's not a fast song it's not like u could mosh to this song, and it's not the biggest song of the 90s but it was big. everyone knows "smells like teen spirit" was.
PS: I think he has got the best voice ever..damn for me it´s like a drug to listen to this, but without the bad things, it has so much power and I think I always get a bit off this power too xD
He is just old. Voices start to degrade once you sing for as long as he has. It's not an off night or anything. It's just a fact that he will never be able to sing as well as he used to when he was in his 20's.
Something about Chris Cornell doing this by himself just makes be sad. Awsome song by an amazing band but this is kinda depressing. I'd rather watch Soundgarden do this as a band or not at all.
yeah try singing for an hour straight, especially at the wide range he's singing...from what few full gigs i've sung, i can tell you it'll wear you out

its sad to see cornell following the solo path of justin timberlakish NEW MODERN sonic sound...!
with being associated with soundgarden and AUDIOSLAVE made him unique and untouchable.

sad to see a hero for me and my generation fade away.
