In this case, since Xherdan is very young, like Lorik Cana and Behrami and some other players, he will also have the right to choose Kosovo. Xherdan is from Kosovo, not Albania.While players like Lorik Cana who are from Kosovo choose to play for the Albanian National team, players like Shaqiri or Behrami chose Switzerland or other countries they were inhabiting while there was a war in their country. The UN hasn't still accepted Kosovo as a part of its, so FIFA hasn't recognized the Football Federation, so these guys STILL are not eligible to play for their own countries, but in a year or two they'll have the chance to pick again.

@acharem Actually, if the country of origin of the player declares its independence and/or gets into FIFA after the player has played for another national team, the player is given the right to re-state his choice. In this case, since Xherdan is very young, like Lorik Cana and Behrami and some other players, he will also have the right to choose Kosovo. I am not sure if he will, but it is quite likely if Kosovo gets in FIFA soon enough.

Wow, he reminds me of a left-footed version of Mathieu Valbuena in many ways (physique, style, shot, etc.). I've seen people call Shaqiri the next Messi, but I think the Valbuena comparison is more accurate.

Swiss national team looks more like international to me.. 6 players that werent even born in Switzerland, UEFA should do something about it and keep national sides NATIONAL for gods sake.. I wonder how Swiss people feel about their team, when there is only half of players with swiss roots In few years half of the lesser European teams will be filled with Brazilians, Arabs and Africans is this what UEFA wants?
