I know the quality of many of my clips is very ordinary, but when you factor in the content, its not so bad. Maybe I'll invest in a TV capture card, maybe. It just isnt a real priority for me. Sony VAIO Media Center PCs allow you to plug a TV cable directly into your PC to record TV video. I imagine other PCs have the same feature. See if your PC has a cable input, and see if it can capture directly off the telly.

The drawback is that you have to know in advance that you want to record something, and your PC has to be close enough to the TV cable so it can reach.
