The 240 did a great job against that SVT. No one knows what the mods were for the 240 so we can't say it had a huge turbine on it. The torque from the ford is beastly however for it to be a heavily overpriced car the 240 still would have been my weapon of choice. Ford should be ashamed of itself. 240 fb runs 3-4k plus at most 7 k. Still only 11 k for the car compared to a 35000 dollar plus car. Sad man. Just sad.
look at it this way... the cobra is an 03 probly cost close to 40k new plus more money for upgrades too, then you have the 240 with a 20 year old engine with less than 10k in the whole car thats mods, price of car and that so called big ass turbo and less than half then engine size, id say better deal with the 240, even though there is more money in mods there is less money spent in the long run

my uncle owns the same year svt. ill admit it halls ass. he has a couple hundred under the hood nothing much. i just bought a 95 240 with a stock sr running 10 psi. needless to say he wooped my ass but if he had put as much money as you said that 240 would woop that v8 with out a prob as long as you know what to spend it on.
Umm, i have owned both, a cobra is a nice fun out of the box plug an play. The 240 just needs a swap (Ka-t is more expensive bc you need to rebuild whole bottom end to compare to the cobra, go be a fanboy somewhere else idiot) So sr20, gasket, studs and a 500$ used gt35 turbo with injectors (remember only 4 not 8) and a pump and he woulda blasted you, that brings the total up to around 4k (with motor). So sure, he had some work done, but not enough to say he was built..

keep seeing people say " the cobra has so little aftermaket and still beat it" 34k new and still 20k used, opposed to my s13 i got for 2k in great shape and sr20 for 2k and i'm keeping up at 14 psi with bolt ons, if i were add in another couple k's and i'm mudering cobras. i can spend less than half the start up cost and have a faster car that has more options are far as the avenues to pursue in customization (and not stupid body kits, i mean as far as swaps, interchanging w/ other nissans)

240's only cost about 2-3k.Then depending on motor swap 2k for sr and 3-4k for ka24 built for KA-T. so say its sr20 its about 5k so far and then adding a couple of more mods. with another 5k spent it could probably beat a somewhat mildly tuned cobra. Anyways Both are nice cars. Obviously who wouldn't want to choose the newer car. All depends on person.
@03redsvt First off the 240 is a 2.0 in this video hence the sr20. sr20 swap is about 2 grand plus bigger turbo and manifold maybe around $1500. So thats 3500 right there not to mention the car wasnt much more than $2000 so that $5500 including the car. How much is a nice condition cobra? At least 10g's. Nice try but put another 5000 into this 240 and it would embarrass that stang.

Big ass turbo, its probably stock or slightly larger, deffinetly didnt seem like anything bigger than a 50 trim, probably alot smaller. Now about price, You can find a nice 240sx sr20 swap for like 5grand

either way both cobra and 240s are nice.

I own a 93 240sx se with a red top sr20det and got 3000 grand in including purchase. Still have the stock t25 and stock exhaust mani and gt mustangs don't fuck wit me.
A turbo upgrade mani upgrade and a decent tune. WOW THE SKY IS THE LIMIT and i will still be under 5 grand in my car. How much does a used svt mustang go for now? hhhmmmmm!!!

my uncle owns the same year svt. ill admit it halls ass. he has a couple hundred under the hood nothing much. i just bought a 95 240 with a stock sr running 10 psi. needless to say he wooped my ass but if he had put as much money as you said that 240 would woop that v8 with out a prob as long as you know what to spend it on.

Umm, i have owned both, a cobra is a nice fun out of the box plug an play. The 240 just needs a swap (Ka-t is more expensive bc you need to rebuild whole bottom end to compare to the cobra, go be a fanboy somewhere else idiot) So sr20, gasket, studs and a 500$ used gt35 turbo with injectors (remember only 4 not 8) and a pump and he woulda blasted you, that brings the total up to around 4k (with motor). So sure, he had some work done, but not enough to say he was built..

keep seeing people say " the cobra has so little aftermaket and still beat it" 34k new and still 20k used, opposed to my s13 i got for 2k in great shape and sr20 for 2k and i'm keeping up at 14 psi with bolt ons, if i were add in another couple k's and i'm mudering cobras. i can spend less than half the start up cost and have a faster car that has more options are far as the avenues to pursue in customization (and not stupid body kits, i mean as far as swaps, interchanging w/ other nissans)

IF the 240 had "7-8k invested in it" or "fully built" you would've been looking at its taillights by the end of the video. that kind of money goes a LONG way when you're tuning an sr, more than likely it was a stock sr with a couple minor mods. how do you know it was an sr? in all probability it could've been ka-t...

Spend all that money you spent on that cobra (Car itself and the mods you did to it) and put that into a 240 and it will be making 700+hp. I gotta admit Cobra's are nice cars and perform good, but I hate the fact that all ford owners are too cocky. Going around thinking they can beat everyone and no one can beat them.

doesnt sound like an sr20det, most likely a ka24de. if it had a big enough turbo, it would be gone. u can tell the difference of a turbo by the spool... didn't really spool hard. 4cyl vs 8cyl can u even compare the two?

BRAND NEW, 03 Cobra ~$31K, 93 240sx (like the one shown) ~$21k SE trim. 31-21 = 10k difference. so DONT even bring price/cost up. Secondly, any car can handle well, it's about having the proper suspension set-up and in the hands of a good driver, so ricers, stop talking about beating them in corners.
Most people need to STFU, both cars are respectable vehicles with respectable performance.

@03redsvt well you didn't think about how much your car costs. just throwing it out there. I dunno how much cobra's cost maybe 15k or more.
240's only cost about 2-3k.Then depending on motor swap 2k for sr and 3-4k for ka24 built for KA-T. so say its sr20 its about 5k so far and then adding a couple of more mods. with another 5k spent it could probably beat a somewhat mildly tuned cobra. Anyways Both are nice cars. Obviously who wouldn't want to choose the newer car. All depends on person.

@03redsvt First off the 240 is a 2.0 in this video hence the sr20. sr20 swap is about 2 grand plus bigger turbo and manifold maybe around $1500. So thats 3500 right there not to mention the car wasnt much more than $2000 so that $5500 including the car. How much is a nice condition cobra? At least 10g's. Nice try but put another 5000 into this 240 and it would embarrass that stang.

@03redsvt i really doubt that 240 has 5-7k invested on it.... my 240 cost me 1700 for a whole sr swap (including turbo, tranny, wiring... everything) + 500 for a fat intercooler... now a new turbo and top mount manifold for 650... thats only 2850... car itself cost 2000.... if the 240 spooled his turbo before the race started it would have been nose to nose the whole way.... props to the ford because ive Never had one pass me..... ever

umm, buddy, your talking shit now. Do you know this guy, if you dont how do you know what he has done? and that's 5-7k done to a 1k car, vs your 20-30k dollar car. He kept up, watch at the last second you'll see the cobra passing a car. That's why the 240 backed off.You may be a hair faster(as stated, its a 4.6 vs a 2.0 or 2.4) but that 240 would embarrass you at the track.
The whole weight issue is why american cars suck. Sports cars are supposed to be light and nimble. Not tank-like

@03redsvt ok really try not to be so ignorant, first of all if it has a SR20det, its a stock turbo motor (and 2.0 liter, hence the 20 in its name), capable of being a 11 second car with STOCK motor, so I highly doubt it's "fully built", and heads plural? its an inline 4-cyl, it has one head. Big ass turbo, its probably stock or slightly larger, deffinetly didnt seem like anything bigger than a 50 trim, probably alot smaller. Now about price, You can find a nice 240sx sr20 swap for like 5grand

Had at least 5-7k invested on it? Not even close. You can get an SR20det for about $1,500 with tranny, ecu, harness, and everything you need to drop it in. Another $500 for a fmic setup. Right now that's at $2,000.
You can easily get a decent 240 for $1,000. Drop in the $2,000 motor setup = $3,000.

A 2003 SVT Cobra will cost anywhere from $14,000 to $20,000.
Now even if the 240 in the video does have 5-7k invested into it, that means that to be fair in comparing the cars, he would be able to put another 9-13k into it.
