  • greatest song ever written or performed....simple as that

  • My current favourite every song

  • best show ever PERIOD

  • thx!

  • Amo The Wire, gracias a David Simon, Ed Burns y todo su fantástico equipo de actores, actrices, etc. Estas series nunca mueren, siempre serán vistas como portentos humanos.

  • @traktorBrum, keep watching my friend it gets much better not confusing tho.

  • @JiggSaww127 O.K thanks

  • @morgantown, thats the same image i get when i hear this..lol.

  • Best show ever made. It's realistic, fresh, awesome and just E.P.I.C.Hell,I'm just at the first season ,episode 6!Can somebody answer me if the story gets better soon or much later 'cause it can sometimes be confusing, but hey, that's the charm of it.Fuck haters,The Wire in <3

  • @traktorBrum

lol dude im so jealous of you....uve got an awesome ride ahead of you...each season can feel confusing for the first half but when it all comes together and the action picks up in the second half of the seasons it will blow ur mind. be careful on these sights, dont expose urself to spoilers, the surprises make the show

  • @RolandBrice GREAT username

  • @morgantown1

haha yup.....a name for the true wire heads

  • Every time I hear this song, I think of Avon being convicted and looking back at Marlo in the courtroom. Marlo just gives him a little nod

  • lmao @ the guy who said hawaii 5-0 is better

  • When you come at the king, you best not miss... Omar

  • It's a cold world Bodie...world going one way, people a other, yo

  • and on an unrelated note to this season, whoever decided to off Bodie should burn in hell forever, besides Omar I have to say he was the only completely morally consistent street kid in the show. In fact, fuck whoever decided Omar had to go too.

  • @thehindmost88 the game decided. thats the point. "deserve aint got nuffin to dew wiff it"

  • What the fuck did I do?

  • @thehindmost88, @RupertGHeap Nicely done.

  • we fight on that lie

  • Man I miss this show :(

  • this makes me shudder. Life is worth living for songs like this

  • Van the man

  • favorite

  • The wire is so beautiful, this song is so beautiful. I miss the wire!

  • Solomon Burke, of Happy Memory, was the Bishop, but Van is the Pope: he owns this song...but I love this interpretation, too. Great ending to the best season of THE WIRE.

  • The cheese stands alone.

  • Que hermosa canción, caracho.

  • "

And you keep moving on to the sound of the wheels

And deep inside your heart you really know oh, just how it feels

And you start breaking down and go into the pain

Keep on moving on a fast train

    "

  • The song fits with any ghetto in America. The song is ideal for an urban sound track.

  • the wire- ahhh great show. "every man got to have a code"- omar

  • @jacisherosick that was bunk

  • 7 people lived in Hamsterdam and can't get drugs now.

  • I always respect others opinions even when they contradict mine, I'me not perfect. But only 215000 people have viewed this. Please listen, he does not bawl or roar. He has power. He performs. Thank you Jasper.

  • 7 people missed the like button

  • Just because I found out so late and dont want anyone else missing out on it: if you watched the wire and liked it, be sure to also check HBO's The Corner. Just as good (only 6 episodes though, but equal impact)

  • I have no desire to ever listen to Van Morrison's version of this song ever again.

  • Youtube is AWESOME! Love the selections and various connections = MUSIC ! ! !

  • Great song to reminisce to.

  • Always makes me think of Stringer and Avon--a surprisingly heartbreaking story of two brothers' betrayal. I guess that just shows the strength of the Wire, the fact they could make two brutal murderers sympathetic and human.

  • How is it humanly possible to dislike this song? This music instantly soothes your soul

  • i love the wire

  • 3 people didnt make to the fast train...

  • Gotta love J.Mcnulty, This aint aruba, bitch!

  • no one there to lend you a helping hand start breakin down movin to the sound u hear on the fast train

  • Even though this is a wonderful performance, Van's original gives you the feeling that the song is getting faster and faster towards the end. This quality is not present in this interpretation. Just something I noticed :) Still, this is great song, no matter what.

  • Any chance there's a vid of Van and Burke performing it together out there somewhere? Saw them do it together in NYC several years ago and it was a great moment.

  • Great song written by Van Morrison and sang to perfection by Burke.

  • My soundtrack for falling in love, being in love and losing said love.

  • fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fast train

  • 6 people are taking notes on a criminal f*cking conspiracy.

  • This song is so beautiful. And yes The Wire was awesome.

  • This song is so beautiful. And yes The Wire was awesome.

  • hard to decide which i love more The Sopranos or The Wire, both are unbelievably amazing and have brilliant music!

  • I have been a fan of Mr. Burke's since the 1960s and it would be difficult to choose a favotie song, but I think this would probably be it. Thanks unknownuser for sharing.

  • I love this song. May Solomon rest in peace.

  • Actually the best song ever

  • Beautiful comments he would be so Proud....Love you Grandpa!!!

  • This soulfull song was recorded long after his heyday, when people were already saying things like "Solomon who?" I will never understand, since I think his late work was some of his best. May he rest in peace.

  • RIP, Sol.

  • R.I.P Solomon Burke. He died early Sunday morning in Amsterdam

  • I LOVE THE WIRE.i would literally have sex with the box set if it wasnt so square. As wire fans , i feel theres an obligation to try and get as wmany people as possible to watch the series , people dont realise how good it is until they have watched a few episodes , not just the first one or 2 because the story takes time to understand as do the characters!

  • Thats Fredric ....it's real stuff ....inga j-a urspårningar........

  • I'm so happy for TELEVISION that people all over the world have found THE WIRE.

Or more even happy for HUMANITY. The Wire is different, this show is really different, tops everything.

Much much love from germany to david & ed and all the crew & cast members & especially the best channel on earth HBO!.

THE WIRE: A mirrow of western urban life in 21th century

  • The Wire Season 3 ending was just beautiful and this song took 80% of the credit. Love it.

You had to go on the lam you stepped into no-man's land

Ain't nobody here on your waveband

Ain't nobody gonna give you a helping hand

    And you start breaking down

And just go into the sound

When you hear that fast train

    The show in a nutshell.

  • @MoreEric Get yourself Solomon Burke's album, Don't Give Up on Me. Each and every song is a gem.

  • the part where they play this song might be my favourite in the whole series... and the lyrics fit the theme of the show perfectly

  • First heard this (in my sleep) while 'The Wire' was on t.v. Made such an impression that I looked it up today.....All I need is a glass of wine and a hammock!

  • It's funny how certain songs are perfect soundtracks for LIFE. That's the power of music.

  • Great songs who suits so well for the end of the third season....

I almost shred a tear because all the characters sound so real it's freaking scary...

I have watched a lot of Series, but this one my friends, is by far, one of the BEST, if not THE best ;)

Just enjoyin' the song, 1 more time, before leaving...

    :)

  • Solomon does a great cover on this song by Van Morrison!

  • i listen to this song everyday like 10 times

  • Every song on the album, "Don't Give Up On Me" by Solomon Burke is golden! check out everything Solomon Burke has done. He is an American treasure. The greatest music in America comes from artists like Mr. Burke, Tad Robinson, Sugar Ray Norcia, Darrell Nulisch, all the blues and soul singers! I'm glad for shows like "The Wire" that will expose people to this. It's the only way they're going to hear it. Spear Brittany!

  • I just finished season 3 and I never heard this song before. Great song for a great series!!!!

  • This song is quite simply the epitomy of the blues.....written and sang brilliantly by Van Morrison and even more soulfully by Solomon Burke.

  • Yo, fellow posters listen to the lyrics to dis track. Deep doo-doo!!!!!!

  • This might be the best song ever. Just uplifting and deep.

  • goin' nowhere fast..

  • The best cover of a Van Morrison song i've ever heard.

  • Brings back amazing memories, I own the entire series on DVD and constantly rewatch....best show in televison history

  • God damn. I never knew how good the Wire was until a month ago. I watched every season in three weeks and now i'm once again feeling empty. Sopranos is gone. The Wire is gone. Nip/Tuck is gone. Now what?

  • Hahaha yup, happened to me and everyone else I know who watched the wire...I couldn't even watch the sopranos after the wire...I swear it's like they say, having sex on ecstasy is so good your sex life is over as it was so amazing. I feel this way about any programming at this point hahaha.

  • @sean9820 sex gets boring unless you know tantra. and you need to know a little about moving a females imagination

  • @Poopsmith01 Mentioning Nip/Tuck in the same sentence as the Wire or the Sopranos should be punishable by death. And as for your question, "now what?" the answer is Breaking Bad.

  • @chowfun18 haha, dude the season of nip tuck with the Carver? That was like the best on your seat action ever! that season finale had the most viewers ever. And I can't get into shows NOT on HBO anymore. I can't stand the absence of "fuck" and tits.

  • @chowfun18 yah i know right what a joke !!!!!!!!!!! SIX FEET UNDER and the wire can met mentioned in the sentence.

  • @Poopsmith01 I got a suggestion for you m8: Breaking Bad ;) Enjoy!!!

  • @Poopsmith01 Nip/Tuck? What?

  • One of the most underrated great songs ever...Long live King Solomon

  • Best song and singer ever!

  • Classic. G-d bless The Wire

  • Great use of a great song in a great show. And Solomon Burke's Please Don't Give Up On Me album which this is from is incredible!

  • thanks for posting. Its hard to buy this song without buying a whole album

  • Solomon goes to the very root of the American soul. And, yes, the Wire is some of TV's best, based on reality.

  • great

  • This is one of the greatest songs I have ever heard from the best show I have ever seen.

Makes me just think of The Wire....Sigh how I miss it.

  • Tears in my eyes.....what a great sound.Thanks....

  • very nice.

    thank you~~

  • perfection is imperfection.. truly amazing.. iwas clips everyday tryna cope wit the fact its over

  • Thank you so much for this wonderful song.

  • Simply the greatest show in Television history. Folks looking to get a better understanding of the power dynamics at work in Washington would do well to watch The Wire's brilliant unveiling of the corrupt systems that govern modern American life. Oh yeah and this song rocks my world.

  • @mstahl18

    \tru talk

  • @mstahl18 - I totally agree. The cast was so on point. Everybody was so real. And this song is off the chain!!! I almost cry when I hear it. But this is real music right here.

  • @mstahl18 No it isnt, if you want reality I suggest you search for ZEIGEIST parts 1 and 2.

  • Lord how strange, people doing love on youtube for something real like The Wire.

The Wire and Deadwood are the real story.

If these dudes did a five season thing on the civil war then the whole story be right there.

    Peace

  • never tried deadwood

  • perfecto mwaaaaaah

  • Best show ever made, hands down. 100 years from now, this show will be used as a tool for learning and what not to fall back into.

  • It will be a social commentary on how our inner city communities lived back in the early years of the 21st century.

The Wire is will be studied and revered just like the philosophers and teachers of the ancient times.

People in the future will view and study the Wire, just like we do in regards to the Greeks, the philosophers of the Age of Reason, the great writers of the 19th and 20th century, etc.

The Wire will get the recognition and approval it so deserves in time, just not now.

  • Excellent show, and the montage and song accompanying it fit perfectly. I've got all five seasons, if you want to watch something thought provoking, and is possibly the best police drama then watch this, because you will not be disappointed. The characters, the plot lines and the actors & actresses themselves have made a piece of television history. Take some time out and engage your brain.

  • And NEVER WON AN EMMY!!!!!!! Sorry but that still pisses me off.

  • Fuck the emmys!

  • I'll never ever ever ever forgive them. Emmys lost all credibility to me.

  • So true. And it's just disappointing to see the Hollywood doesn't honor true quality as you can see it in The Wire. Can you believe that this show didn't win a single prize through those 5 years of production? But well, prizes don't mean anything, it's about us fans, us fans loving this show. The greatest of all time...

  • Fuck the prizes, The Wire is The Wire, always :P

  • unprecedented in quality. Easily the best show that will ever be created.

  • fantastic album and fantastic tv show...

  • never heard anything so sad

  • What they said. Awesome show. Wonderful song.

  • no other show like the wire, best show ever

  • awesome series

  • awesome i loverd that montage when they played this i was gettin down when this started playin

  • yup..best show so many people have never seen. great song. never seen a show like it.

  • "Fast Train" written by Van Morrison and performed by Solomon Burke. fantasic song. really fits in with the montage at the end of season 3 of the wire. steve earle dose a song aswel, although im not sure what its called. "Way Down in the Hole" is played at the start of each ep n that written by Tom Waits, id recommend the heart of saterday night. really good album to relax too.

  • is this the song for the montage at the end of season 2? love it

  • season 3

  • great song, best tv show in history

  • you aint kiddin
