  • why does it have 4 pantographs ?

  • 2 pantographs are for DC power (those with juncture in front) and the two remaiming with juncture on rear are for AC power. So the loco is at that video using DC power.

  • This is Austrian Power ;) I can see the 1016/1116/1216 everyday in Graz. she is beautiful :)

  • ★★★★★ thanks for uploading :) nice

  • hi, the movies is excellent, thanks ★★★★★

  • Bravo! 5 Stars!

    VERY Smooth Acceleration!

  • That's right

  • Taurus is a name given by the öbb like Hercules (the rh 2016) or Hector (rh 2070)

    or no?

  • so the 1216 class doesnt' make the step acceleration sounds from the motor/inverter?

  • As you can hear it in this video, no. :) As far as I know, this type of Eurosprinter locomotives can work under 4 different current type: 25 kV/50 Hz AC, 15 kV/16,67 Hz AC, 3 kV DC, 1,5 kV DC. So... maybe Siemens had to change the inverter to be able to do this or something.

  • No, 1216 as well as BR189 uses IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) technology instead of GTO (Gate Turn Off) thyristors used in 1016/1116 locos. The GTO:s is the ones that makes the distinctive stepped sound. IGBT is capable of handling yet more current with fewer semi-conductors than GTO thyristors.

  • Me encanta ese sonido.

  • Right, just to clarify, here's how I see the different Taurus locos:

    Rh1016 (aka ES64U1): Boring, only useful in Austria & Germany - single-voltage, ie. 15kV 16.67Hz

    Rh1116 (aka ES64U2/U3): Two variants, for a mixture of former-USSR countries, plus Germany - 15kV & 25kV AC

Rh1216 (aka ES64U4/U5/U6): Three variants, multi-system, basically a DB E189 in a different body, suitable for several different countries!

  • correct.

    easily said:

    this is the taurus 3.

    so its calles by siemens

  • Yeh, but the point I was making is that "Taurus 1" has one form, Rh1016; whilst "Taurus 2" has two-forms (E182/Rh1116 - two variants) and "Taurus 3" has two forms (Rh1216/some-slovenian-designation - three variants)

  • bello

  • Does it just look like that or do the wheels sling??

  • does 1216 make do re mi fa sol la si....

  • ought to do - exact same traction equipment!

  • perhaps "Italian" version Taurus has something different... i'll take note of this... 4* bye

  • Maybe is from the tension...I'm not very sure, because the tension can be the same in Austria and Italy...

  • Supply-voltage?

  • Maybe it's a modification at the electric part of the loco, because 1016/1116's won't enter in countries with different tension...But we still need real info about the 1216.:)

  • piękny lok a jeden jest już w Polsce :):):)

  • świetna lokomotywa

  • buenos trenes fabricados en alemania
