you don't have to run to lose weight. I'm 41 with a full knee replacement and it's very difficult for me to run... I lost 50 pounds (took me a year) by walking three miles 5 nights a week and watching what I ate!
Interval training will of course accelerate weight loss, but you have to be in good enough shape to begin with. For beginners, I recommend starting with a good learn to run program to develop a fitness base. Only then should you consider adding intervals. I'd also be cautious about recommending intervals several times a day - you could get injured with that kind of impact. And make sure to set the treadmill at 1% incline to mimic 'real' running.

I see it a lot here in Japan and also people say similar things in between thoughts. Uhs can be common in southern vernacular. Superjayzfan1: you are getting cramps for one of two (or for both) reasons: 1) you are breathing too shallow. Breathe deeper. 2) breathe on the odd footstrikes. Count your steps, breathe in for 3 steps, out for 3 steps. If you always breathe in or out on even steps you use the same muscles on the same side and you'll cramp. Crazy, but true. Try it.
i just started to head back to the gym. I used to walk (3.5 ) on the treadmill for 30 mins. Now, I changed it up by starting out at 3.5 mph for 2 mins and then 5.0 mph for 3 mins, then I lower down the mph to 3.5 again and repeat the same until I completed the 30 mins. I have been running on a treadmill twice a day for the last two years, and have seen tremendouse weight loss & muscle gain. My intervals are 45 mins each at between 6.5 & 7.3 mph. During the 1st 2 mins I push to my max and continue the run until the last 2 mis of the 45 min stretch then bust it out as fast as I can, up to about 9mph. Awesome workout, but not for the squeemish...Good tip. I have hit my plateau and need some new tricks to try...thanks..

@nooloo3000 whatever you do find an exercise that you enjoy and don't focus on your weight although it is a factor for health your focus should be on enjoying the exercise of your choice little by little says the turtle. brisk walking and slight weights are good to start off with. don't compare yourself to others and know that you can do it God bless
@nooloo3000 try running at a slow pace, remember yeo its going to take a while. there are no days off, if you want quick results. do cardio everyday such as insanity, running and weight lifting 3 times a week. have low calorie meals and dont skip meals its better to eat 6-7 small meals than 3 big meals a day

I lost 30lbs in about 3 to 4 months. I did interval training. I worked out 6 to 7 days a week. I just had a baby a month ago today (I'm Kara, Mat's wife) and I have 20lbs left to lose. I gained 45 during pregnancy. I do interval training on a treadmill here at my apartments. I mix running and walking and jogging with different MPH and incline. I start out walking at 2.8mph at 1 to1.5% incline. I mix it up during each workout. I sweat so much :]
Loosing weight is not hard. But I suggest you run in grass much easier and safer for you feet. I play soccer every week and run about 4 times a week 30 miles. I can say I lost 40 pounds in just 8 months. The treadmill is also good but you don't sweat as much as being in the grass.
It's true Interval training is one of the best ways to shed body fat. Remember it's just as important to get your strength training is as well since having muscle is what helps you keep it off.
One way I felt really help was sex, like seriously. Before I started having sex I was 170 punds then as I did it like 1 to 3 times a week I lost pounds fast. Ive been bulking up though but I look better then ever, oh and masterbation is great too.
WALK-A-BIKE makes it easy to walk or jog long distances with the bicycle at his/her side. Walk your max without the worry of not being able to make it back due to, foot pain, leg cramps, or just plain fatigue. When you reach your maximum walking/jogging distance, just bicycle back. Adding bicycling to your walking fitness program provides a more diverse exercising routine.
stay away from walking? walking is one of the best ways for losing weight as there is little chance of injuring yourself. All you need is 65% of your max heart rate to start burning fat. Ok you will have to walk longer than 20mins but it is still good and remember just eat cardboard and dust and you will lose weight fast.
@bluelagoon10023 ....to me if you're young like 20's r 30's...you should jog unless you overly obese...walkin is a good starting point....both r connected...start off wit walkin to get ready to jog...an joggin is a good follow up to walkin...joggin isnt really different from walkin...just speedin up from walkin wit a bounce to it....if you're serious about your workout....your body will make you jog
i lost 65 lbs in 2 months ..Swim a mile or more be4 work ..do interval training on a stationary bike were you use your arms too on my lunch hour and run and walk at night ..i work very close to the gym i joined and that helps...i dont talk blood pressure meds anymore which is a result of good eating habits...to jump start you weight loss ..cut out all bread and cokes and dont eat after 5 pm..it helps i know...

While I agree on the benefits of intervals for accelerated weight loss, I have two notes:
1. Interval training is not for beginners. Learn to run first, then add intervals.
2. Run outdoors. Save the treadmill for those days you simply can't get outside. You'll have better results and better scenery.

I have been running on a treadmill twice a day for the last two years, and have seen tremendouse weight loss & muscle gain. My intervals are 45 mins each at between 6.5 & 7.3 mph. During the 1st 2 mins I push to my max and continue the run until the last 2 mis of the 45 min stretch then bust it out as fast as I can, up to about 9mph. Awesome workout, but not for the squeemish...Good tip. I have hit my plateau and need some new tricks to try...thanks..

hey there!!! i am doing HIIT training once a day from monday till saturday and have a days rest. i go 30 sec sprint and pause for 30 on the tredmil. is that ok, feel good afterwards, but dont feel as though im losing weigt. can i do it twice a day or not. or am i doing somthing totaly wrong? can anybody help. thanx

@o0triipiiziin0o Play a sport! If you are into dancing take dance classes and you will see a difference in your weight. drink as much water as you can handle. My dads friend was overweight, all he did was stop drinking soda and he lost 50 pounds in four months with NO exercise. shows you how unhealthy soda really is! Soccer is good too, lots or running and its fun. get some friends to workout with, that helps me because I dont wanna give up fast and be embarrassed so I push my self to show off

@nooloo3000 whatever you do find an exercise that you enjoy and don't focus on your weight although it is a factor for health your focus should be on enjoying the exercise of your choice little by little says the turtle. brisk walking and slight weights are good to start off with. don't compare yourself to others and know that you can do it God bless

@nooloo3000 try running at a slow pace, remember yeo its going to take a while. there are no days off, if you want quick results. do cardio everyday such as insanity, running and weight lifting 3 times a week. have low calorie meals and dont skip meals its better to eat 6-7 small meals than 3 big meals a day

I lost 30lbs in about 3 to 4 months. I did interval training. I worked out 6 to 7 days a week. I just had a baby a month ago today (I'm Kara, Mat's wife) and I have 20lbs left to lose. I gained 45 during pregnancy. I do interval training on a treadmill here at my apartments. I mix running and walking and jogging with different MPH and incline. I start out walking at 2.8mph at 1 to1.5% incline. I mix it up during each workout. I sweat so much :]

Loosing weight is not hard. But I suggest you run in grass much easier and safer for you feet. I play soccer every week and run about 4 times a week 30 miles. I can say I lost 40 pounds in just 8 months. The treadmill is also good but you don't sweat as much as being in the grass.

stay away from walking? walking is one of the best ways for losing weight as there is little chance of injuring yourself. All you need is 65% of your max heart rate to start burning fat. Ok you will have to walk longer than 20mins but it is still good and remember just eat cardboard and dust and you will lose weight fast.

i lost 65 lbs in 2 months ..Swim a mile or more be4 work ..do interval training on a stationary bike were you use your arms too on my lunch hour and run and walk at night ..i work very close to the gym i joined and that helps...i dont talk blood pressure meds anymore which is a result of good eating habits...to jump start you weight loss ..cut out all bread and cokes and dont eat after 5 pm..it helps i know...
