  • damn talos missed everything up!!!

and his scary as hell like others said with the music the scene is just epic!!!

  • So, despite repeated warnings to only take food and water, and despite having decided that the place was a 'treasure chamber of the gods', Hercules STILL decided to take some stuff?

  • Oh Hercules your so stupid...

  • What part of take only food and water and nothing else or Talos will get you, was unclear to Hercules?

  • 6:30 look at the hand of Thalos, a piecemaster of modelling! it looks real!

  • When you first see Talos you just know that something horrible is going to happen - the eerie creaking as he moves is truly scary!

    A brilliant creation by Harryhausen.

  • Best scene in the movie, IMO, scares the crap out of me; the lack of expression on his face and the movement, the screaking of the metal, etc and his size, just truly terrifying. Seeing him turn his head, then climb down off his pedestal, just horrifying beyond belief.

  • goin to see the remake of Clash of the Titans today, so i decided to this as a warm up. havent seen it in years... LOVE IT!!!

  • @bladrunner6 this is better than clash of the titans

  • The Talos scene used to scare the heck out of me...

  • Yes, the jerkiness is what makes it scary. I don't know if you remember the BBC programme Screen Test but when I was 6 years old there was a trailer for it on TV. Michael Rodd introduced the clips that would be shown. One was from Jason and the Argonauts. The moment Talos emerged from behind the rock face I hid behind my parents' sofa. I also remember thinking "Argonauts? Shouldn't it be Jason and the Astronauts"

  • Ray Harryhausen is the genius of "Special Effects", in my opinion.

    LadyViewer

  • kraken and talos is my favorite

  • I saw this film when I was a kid and it scare me so bad, I peed on my self. Oh wait, it still has the same effect today. No really, I loved this movie and when Talos face moves, it still gives me the chills today. Great movie and great score by Bernard Herrmann!

  • yes i agree with srg2457 that scene is tattoo'd on my mind from when i was at least 4 yrs old, 40 years,

  • at 05:30 Talos look like he's takin a short break, lol

  • i always loved these effects of harryhausen, they seemed more real to your imagination, the fx today, you know there generated and it ruins it. the score was also excellent to bring talos to life!

  • I love the way Harryhausen can give a totally emotionless character a personality. When Talos first gets off of his stand he leans back and you know what he's thinking.... "Goddamn I've been up on that fuckin' stand for a looooong time. Shit, and now I've got to go kill me some thieving little spudfucks."

  • The moment when Talos turns his head is one of the greatest moments in cinema history.

  • Totally agree, the size, the creaking sounds and the expressionless face all add to his incredible presence.

  • Well said

  • In all honesty, like the special effects in the Ten Commandments (i.e. the Red Sea parting), the special effects in this movie (IMO) remain credible.

  • Did Talos leave his temple's door open to lure them in, or was it just random

  • I'd like to see Talos and the Collosus of Rhodes do battle!

  • Talos is getting even bigger!!

  • Good point. You know, I never noticed that and I've watched this movie a 1000 times.

  • where was this filmed?

  • I spoke to Ray Harryhausen once-it was filmed in Italy near Palinuro.

  • Ibiza

  • italy mostly

  • Probably some Greek island, sure it gorgeous.

  • 1963

  • talos is fuckin cool. this films is awesome.

  • hmmm...ok guess i'll give away my age here! i remember seeing this at the theater when it first came out.

  • TALOS,,HERCULES,,

  • whats with the heel thing though, wasnt that achillees?

  • this is a piece of cinematic history, better than the Kraken Scene (to an extent) in POTC 2.... Absolute Quality, still sh i ts me up to this day, and I'm 32, WOOOO !!!!!

  • OMFG, TALOS !!!!!! some scary sh i t man :S

  • Has to be one of the best movies of all time. I remember having a dream being chased by Talos as a kid! This is one amazing scene!

  • I'm Japanese, but I prefer Talos to Godzilla !

  • that statues great, looks like solid copper

  • Talos always scared the hell out of me. I still think he's fantastic.

  • There's ALWAYS someone who will ignore the direst warnings in greek myths. In fact, most of the troubles that are found in greek mythology are caused by people who were feelin' lucky at the time.

  • he became bigger when he walked in front of the ship!

  • like the crew of odysseus by eating that cattle:P

  • aww he just wants to be their friend

  • I don't think he is scary!!

  • I actually think Talos' sound effects are the coolest thing about him, squealing metal.

  • yeah i agree,great attention to detail

  • Talos was one of those things that scared me as a child. A giant man of bronze can be quite scared for a kid

  • man it scared the shit out of me!!!

  • Talos is a titan? I thought he was a colossus construct made by hiphasteus?

  • Maybe ifs a statue OF the titan, Talos?

  • Acording to the legend he is a deffense system gone wrong. He was supposed to protect the country his island was near but he went nuts and started trashing every ship that went past friend and foe alike

  • Classic movie!

I remenber that when Talos turns his head, I was very scared when I was a Kid.

I taped the movie back them and watched dozens of time.

  • Any child, male or female around 10 will just lap this up.Trust me.

  • the beauty of talos in stop motion is that something made of bronze would actually move like that

  • that ship went into the sky and became Aries the 1st sign of the zodiac by zues

  • no talos is one of the Titan not a beast

  • That moment when Talos first turns his head down to look at them, that's still scary! One of Harryhausen's coolest creatures.

  • definately - that is the scariest moment.

  • its also the best moment of any film i've seen to date. Although competition is close for me between that part and in Die Hard when Bruce Willis throws the C-4 down the lift shaft

  • beats the heck out of a cgi XD

  • One of my favorite movie scenes of all time: Talos.

  • Talos is a Beast.
