@iceceslol I bought 54 real ones and had 10 given to me. I only ended up with 27 carved. I don't know how many foam pumpkins I bought, but quite a few.

Joseph... i use a dremel tool with very small drill bits, cutter bits and sanding bits.

1Aidio.... I used a exacto knife with a keyhole saw blade to cut out the cutout parts and a speedball cutting tool and wood carving tools to cut out the shaded areas. Also an exacto knife to outline the areas to be shaded. The pattern is off a picture of a carved pumpkin I saw years ago that I adapted slightly with more veins to hold the pupil an iris a little more securely. Done on large pumpkin.

Can I convert coloring pages into stencils? How to?

@AhhSeanTea I am not a good stencil maker. You have to figure out what parts to cut out, what parts to shade. I have only done a couple myself. It is easier to get them off pumpkin websites like stoneykins or zombiepumpkins.

OMG! HOW DID YOU MAKE THE DESIGN FOR JACK SPARROW?!?!?!? AND CAN I HAVE IT?! LIKE, DO YOU HAVE THE STENCIL FOR IT?!?!? ALSO, HOW DID YOU GET THE BACKGROUND SO CLEAN-LOOKING?! (take the Micky Mouse sorcerer's apprentice one for example....) No matter what I do, when I carve a pumpkin, when I make the background thin to let the light through I can still see the carving marks! How did you get it to look flat and clear like that?

I got the eyeball from a picture of a pumpkin someone carved in the past. I saved it and traced the photo to make a pattern. I modified it a little by adding more veins.

I really did carve the pumpkins. I didn't make the patterns, they were done by the real artists. But I did all the carving.

Come by and see this year's patch. I should have about 100 pumpkins. Some of them will be foam ones I carved in previous years. But I should have 50-60 new ones, both real and foam.

how do you get the shades? do just scrape away on the pumpkin until light start to show through?

You scrape off the outside until you have the right amount of light shining through. Some people carve with a light on the inside of the pumpkin. I look at how thick the wall is and estimate how much to cut away.
