This is now modern day the 14th Air Force, on Vandenberg Air Force Base; I should know, because i'm from the 101st CAP Squadron down there. I did a lot of research on them, they were Chinese volunteers that agreed to work and help fight the war along our side. Thank you all for your sacrifice and determination.

@happyninslave You are very ignorant. Why dont you look up the documentary "China in revolution 1911-1949" to see why China ended up a communist country. The Flying Tigers were paid several times more than other air force pilots at the time for their contribution to the Chinese air defense. And a memorial is dedicated to them in the village of Zhijiang. The Chinese are grateful of the Tigers help to their country. But the later hostilities between the two countries are a complicated matter.

Those P40s are bad ass. They have 2 .50 cal machine guns, and 4 .30 cal machine guns. And what I find funny is the P40 is a much worse dog fighter then the Nate and Oscar(the Zero was carrier based), but the nice thing about it, was that it could absorbe blow after blow. There are some cases where the jap. pilot ranout of ammo while unloading into a P40 and it still flew. Dew two its horible Manovorbility, Chennault told his piolets not to dog fight with the Nates and Oscars, but to Hit and Run.

But the military leaders who controlled the government did played a part in their terror policy: kill all, loot all, burn all. the atrocities they committed gave every allied soldier a good reason to hate the Japanese. After pearl harbor, our govt put all Japanese americans into camps, but they were loyal to their adopted country and served well.

@spanish111japan When the power hungry military leaders took control in Japan, storm clouds were forming for war. Their role in the axis powers were to build an empire: from Asia to the Pacific. As far as massacres were concerned, we were just as guilty in Vietnam

Ironically, that meant only Japanese asian's and that everyone else was Second Class or only worth exploiting. A racist method of thinking that has still failed to disappear in japan as much even more so then in Western countries. @haynes1776 The only massacre of civilians by Americans in Vietnam was My Lai. About 120 people were killed. It was stopped by other American troops.  In Nanking alone the Japanese massacred over 300,000 civilians in about three weeks. Not to mention Bataan, Manila, Borneo, Dutch East Indies, and on and on. To compare My Lai to that makes you an idiot of galactic proportions. You have to be one of the most uneducated and ill read people in the universe.

the show shows a lot about other pilots like the Brits,Israel and Germany. first of all the show is shown in the USA and Canada second it has a buget. and it only rain for 2 seasons.

@panzersRULE I agree, I'm very curious about the Axis aces and well known Pilots. So far I've only seen some incredible studies on Nazi tank commanders and spy's along with the typical generals. Yet I hardly hear of the many feats done by Japanese men in uniform.

Um. A few problems. First, the planes were Mitsubishi Ki-48 "Lily" medium bombers, not Ki-21s. Second, only three were shot down over China, with a fourth crashing in French Indochina (now Vietnam). With the advantage of the Chinese spotter network, the Tigers knew this at the time. Hey, four out of six ain't shabby!
