My radiator went on my car (rusted out real ugly) and I couldn't afford to fix it at the time. It was an 87 and was a solid gray color. It didn't even have a tape deck. I miss that old thing.
they are not huge pos,s yes they weren't nothing to look at but hey they were great cars in terms of reliability and just getting from point a to point b
They are NOT Rabbits. The 1978 Omni/Horizon had a VW engine because the engine originally designed for the car wasn't ready for the rollout. They do share the design with the Simca, but Omni/Horizons were built in the USA. I had two of them, 1978 and 1990.
lol push it to the dealer?? why was there problems do you recommend the 80s omni/horizon over the 78 and 79 omni/horizon????? or the late 70s ones over 80s what do you think are more reliable?/
Actually, the later 80's to the 1990 model were the best, as is typical for an end-run vehicle who's had all it's bugs worked out. The early cars w/ VW engines were terrible - the 2.2 motors were the best, and tended to run forever - or until you neglected them enough.. THEN they'd blow a head gasket. After '88 they were fuel injected - which cured a lot of ills. IMO: They were the American "Beetle" .. you could drive them forever, if you serviced them regularly. I loved my '88 !
My 1978 Horizon has Been Great...It has the 1.7l VW engine...which...weren't Very good...But Mine has 144,000....Very Little rust....Nice Original Interior....I Love it! Automatic as well...I have Heard these earlier Ones with the 1.7l engines were terrible...I can Believe it...But Mine has been Great....Its Great On Gas...If i ever get rid of it Which Probably will be never I would Like another one.....say was your 88 New? you still got it?
@jakesaintsrow123 : No, Jakes - I bought mine as a 2 y.o. used car as I was moving into the city and needed something small to park. I was in love with it for the entire time I had it for what it was: practical, easy to scoot around in, and phenominal mpg's. (you could pee in the tank, and it'd still run! I swear, they were that easy to own.) Sadly, it was stolen in Feb. of 1993, and I never saw it again.
Oh Yeah.....And YES they got GREAT MPG.....I LOVE Mine ...Mine is a 78 though...I have Had good Luck with it though....it's been a Great car...From what I hear the 1.l7 was terrible....Glad to Hear your story on your Horizon :D ...Say....what did you get after It was stolen....Sadly..
@jakesaintsrow123 : LOL - beleive it or not, I bought a 1987 Pontiac Bonneville .. i was in a panic to get a car to drive to work. That turned out to be a good car, too. Not as thrifty as the Omni, though. As long as you carefully maintain your 1.7 motor, it'll do okay. Maintenance is the key! But the 2.2 motors were practically bullet-proof.
Oh Yeah...Those Bonneville's were Good cars....and Yea I Have been Taking Good care of My Car...In Spring once I start driving it ...since I don't drive it IN winter I will be changing the Oil/Tranny Fluid...Last Owner didn't change the Tranny Fluid for 4-5 years....But The auto tranny is fine...Iam changing it as soon spring comes though! ....It has been Looked after...That's One reason Why Its Probably Lasted this Long ..I Plan on Maintaining it and Just driving it...I Love it..Turns heads to!
@Sonor05 Thank you. I am cool. Now the only thing left to figure out is why someone "who doesn't give a shit" about this car would bother to spread mistruths. Are you carrying on some family tradition started by your faggot father? Inquiring minds want to know.
@TheIntruders So I'm spreading mistruths by posting ONE comment on a video that I was wrong about. I love how you are one of these jerkoffs that like to argue with people on the Internet about nothing. Are you going to ask me where I live so you can come and kick my ass? Another thing, how old are you bringing my father into this. Is that the best you can do? Inquiring minds want to know.
@Sonor05 Good job. Make your "last word" the moronic catch phrase of some Howard Stern wannabe's. Didn't Howad fuck the eye socket of Opie's dead father's skull or was that Man Cow. They're all sound the same to me.
I bought one of these a few years ago It had been sitting in this ladys back yard for like five years I think I gave her 200 dollars for it had it towed home changed the oil and put in a new battery and filled it with gas and after several...many many tries it started up and I drove the thing for over a year wide open. It had some major carb problems besides that there wasny anything major until I ran it hot one time for like 3 minutes and it blew the head gasket..i still drove it for a few week
Who is this guy yelling at?

@MikePYaDig : um.. dude, other than a plastic nameplate and blacked-out grille up front, they were the exact same car. Your statement makes no sense.

Same cars but different years\options had different engines, plus taking care of one or the other is another factor.
