@motorkola2 because they were sold as pack-in games with the system. for a while it was sonic 1, then they started packing in sonic 2.
Back in the days of NES/SNES/genesis/megadrive, pack-in games were common. NES came with mario/duckhunt/track and field depending on the package, SNES ussually came packed with super mario world. Back in these days, even the gameboy came packed with tetris :)
My sega genesis model 2 is in decent condition just a bit dusty I only got 3 working controllers, the one it came with and the 2 wireless 6 button controllers that I use mostly. I do also own all the good sonic games. I had my genesis for about 12 years and it still works great. I think I got it when it was selling in stores for my birthday when I was really young. I still love playing the genesis :)
Very interesting video and I agree with you about the Sonic And Knuckles cartridge. I kind of knew all along that it was controlling the data from Sonic 3 and Sonic 2 and not just using one whole half of one game and then one whole half of another.
If you look carefully in Sonic 3, you'll find that there is quite a few bugs in it to begin with that were all fixed up in Sonic 3 And Knuckles.
the 2 systems i have gotten the most of are segas and nes systems. right now i own 3 nes systems (model 1 ,2 and a custom portable with the original board) but i also had 2 other nes systems i got rid of. i also have, a sega cdx, model 1 genesis (i had a model 2 i sold) and im geting another sega
A very interesting video there, I see that you've done proper research with this, I'm especially impressed with how you explained the bank switching method performed between S&K -> S3. Anyone disassembling S3&K without that knowledge would be a fool.
heh... Ideally, you can get all 7 emeralds in just 3 runs of emerald hill zone using the reset trick, as there are 3 checkpoints and all the rings and item boxes re-spawn after the special stage
There's actually an Xmen game for the genesis that requires that you reset the game at a certain point. The only reason this worked was because the genesis doesn't clear it's memory on soft reset like most other game consoles do.
i like your video, but i like to have a super sonic yellow, its possible?

That reset trick is one of the reason I will take a real console and original game over remakes and emulators any day.

You really know how to maintain game consoles.
Do you know how to replace the battery in a Video Game Cartridge?
If you do it would be great if you could post up a video on how to do it...

So all you had to do is reset the genesis!!!! SWEET!

You should post up another Sonic video focusing on Sonic 1.

I've got Sonic 1, 2, 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic Spinball on the Genesis.
They are all complete except Sonic & Knuckles.
I love the old SEGA Genesis Sonic Games.

1. Tails automatically dies right at the start of Ice Cap Zone act 1 when he presses the button and slides down the very first hill.
2. Tails can fly right out of the screen in 2P Balloon Park Zone and get a really fast race record.
3. You can jump straight up in the gumball bonus stage and get a head start on collecting the gumballs before landing on the springs.
4. The S&K miniboss music plays also in Hydrocity Zone Act 2 if you wait underwater for the countdown. Not just act 1.

Really great how you included the fact about how MJ was originally supposed to do the music. Oh, and the emerald thing was helpful, thanks!

That was a cool trick with the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic 2. I never knew you could do that. Awesome video.
