in truth, Ralph was harsher on piggy, and yes it was a ship on the horizon, and yes jack did punch him in the novel. Jack also had red hair If i'm correct. Ok this is old, but terrible acting on the whole! other than Ralph.

Maybe they should have let Jack be chief from the beginning...I mean, it's undeniable Ralph's the best leader. But, somehow, Jack seems to hate being under authority, and he just gets worse and worse from then :( What do you guys think?

@onlyonewholoves991 I think that's the reason why Ralph had Jack be the leader of the hunters. That way, even though he's not the chief, he has some status higher than the rest of the boys. He loves power and wants control. If Jack was chief at the beginning, they wouldn't have a chance to be rescued. All he would care about would be killing pigs and nothing else. In the book, when Jack breaks away and starts his own group with him as chief, he does just that, and worse.

After completing my English essay at college, I borrowed the DVD, ripped it and took it back to the college so others have a better chance with their essays (since many schools and colleges can only use the 90's version, if that).
