I agree that the Hogyoku made Aizen stronger but after that he lost the ability to communicate with his Zanpaktou( after he became Condom Aizen he didn't use his Zanpaktou abilities at all, not to mention bankai) which was the coolest thing about aizen as a villain, the fact that you never knew if you are truly facing him or it's just an illusion.
