@TheAulGuitarist Nope, you can only get one every 10 rounds starting at the round you first get it. That is unless you die. So if you got the combat engnineer ribbon on wave five you couldnt get it again until wave 15. If you die you can get it once you respawn.

To do this in 5 minutes and a lot easier, do this:

1. Go to System Settings and then memory

2. Scroll over your memory device so its highlighted and click Y

3. Clear the Cache.

4. Load up Gears of War 3 and DO NOT update it.

5. Once you get to the Main menu it will say that your Campaign Saves are corrupt and to click A to overwrite them. DO NOT CLICK A, CLICK B (cancel).

6. Turn on a second controller and just let it be Player 2.

7. Start horde and do the same thing except keep repairing.

…doing all those steps allow you to keep repairing the turret in the same round for many more Field Engineer Ribbons. To log back onto Xbox Live just go to the Dashboard and then reload your game and agree to the update.

Even better way:

Need at least 2 people

Play on casual, start on wave 27

Build up 5 fences, do NOT upgrade them

Kill all enemies till the last 4 or 5

Let them kill you

Restart from current wave

Repair 5 fences

Repeat.

Reason to not upgrade is cause upgrading makes repairs more expensive. Just fixing the basic fence costs less than $500 each meaning you only need $2000 a wave. Also, dying resets the engineer ribbon so you can get it again. Everyone playing can also get the ribbon.

@iCalumO2 Yes it can, but it's a lot better to go through the first two waves and then restarting it, only the person getting the mutation/medal clears the waves on their own so they can earn all of the money. You can get the onyx medal in about 1-2 hours (random estimate).

So is there no way to do this with just one player? I don't game online and I'm the only person in my house that plays this. In fact, I set up 5 fortifications on Drydock during the 30 second clock before it starts, and didn't get the Combat Engineer ribbon or any indication that it did anything at all. Can you only get ribbons in multiplayer? Any help would be appreciated. I have no desire to play with anyone online, but I would like to get Infinite Ammo for my own enjoyment.
