  • Makes me wish I could have been born 40 years before I was.

  • Nice video, and beautiful flying. I hate to see acrobatic flying with these old planes. It leads to crashes of irreplaceable historic artifacts.

  • Great vid! Thanks for not killing it with music.

  • Awesome.Unforgettable, the best warbirds. Thanks for this video.

  • So wonderful plane..i love two birds..

Thank you for the great video

    5*****

  • first-class admissions, and then the fantastic P-47 Thunderbolt in addition.

    Greetings from Germany

    warbirds-power.de

  • @ColaWhiski Some amazing aircraft on both sides. The designs done with a slide rule - no computers - still amazes me! Glad you like the video!

  • to: CMDRF andragon: In the fifties and sixties there was a company called Cavalier Aviation. Located in L.A. I believe. They converted P-51s to two place aircraft as well as other mods like clipped wings for more speed through less drag. P-51s were not worth a million bucks plus back then. Remove the old radio gear and the armor plate behind the pilot gave enough room for a second seater. Long live all warbirds! A time in history that will never be repeated!!

  • Nice video. It was like flying with the warbirds for 10 mins and I was able to stay at my computer.

  • you try flying in a plane getting filmed how would you like it?

  • I am dreaming of owning one of these fascinating airplanes. And these beauties perfectly match the pretty state of kentucky. God bless from Germany

  • OMG.. love the P-47

  • Love the T-28 in the back ground trying to play too

  • Is the 3rd bird a F8 bearcat ???

  • T-28?

  • Confederate Air force?

  • The B25J was CAF but, not the others - privately owned.

  • Sad.. that its no longer called "Confederate" Air Force. PC BS

  • is there 2 people in that P51? howd they manage that one

cool vid >8D would be fun to see those WWII planes in person as well

  • There is a jump seat behind the pilot - this is where the old radio's were - which took up allot of room. So yes there are two people in the Mustang.

  • 胴体翼機を御見事P-51

  • If my translator is correct you said

    Body wing machine beautiful P-51

  • Yep.. and he also said

"Buy more Chinese good so your country can implode from the debt you owe my country"...

    ha

  • Fui para cama!!!!!

  • I went to bed???

  • You lucky son of a gun!!

  • wow, huge Hamilton paddle prop.

  • talk about being a lucky dog I wish I could have been there!!!

  • The P-47 and the P-51 use to belong to Vintage Fighters and Charles Osborne from Sellersburg Indiana, USA. The P-47 is now painted Tar Hel Hal. The P-51 is in Lexington Kentucky now. I use to work on these planes!!! They are top notch

  • Amazing !! Just Amazing !! BTW I wonder if the owners of these P-51s (or any war-birds) are allowed to have the functioning 50 cal guns in the wings!! Can they?? or do they ???

  • No active weapons allowed (to my knowledge). Some put propane powered simulators on some war birds that sound like machine guns using propane for the "BANG".

  • im looking to buy a p-51 in a couple of years off of my friends father who restored one but i want to know is there anything special i need to do in terms of paper work or inspection ?

  • lucky

  • make sure it has tax, mot and good tyres.

  • no aircraft operating in the US is allowed to have weapons of any kind unless its of law enforcement, military or coastal patrol.

  • how was it a "confederate Air Force B-25"? i didn't know they had those during the civil war, its amazing they lost with that technology.

  • The 'Confederate Airforce' is the name of group of enthusasts who run these aircraft in the South of America.

  • It is now the Commemorative Air Force, and it is not just in the south of USA. They are all over, every region.

  • Nice. Ultimate prop. Warbirds

  • Actually, that is John Davidson, now a UPS pilot, flying the P-47. The T-28 was shooting for a local TV station and was flown by Mr. Osborn's son Colin. The Thunderbolt was sold because the guy flying the P-51 didn't like radials (tells you all you need to know about him) and then the collection went down hill fast. Thankfully though, it went to Lone Star (now painted as Tar Heel Hal)where it gets the respect it always deserved.

  • Glad to hear its still flying and respected. I always thought the name Big Ass Bird was a great name cause them 47's were DAMN BIG!! Thanks for the comment

  • 漂亮

  • ?????????

  • Taken during the second aviation heritage airshow at JVY airport, Jeffersonville,In. 1994. I worked for the owner of those two fighters, Mr. Charles Osborne, as an A&P mech. He is flying the Jug, Big Ass Bird 2 and Brad Hood is flyin the mustang, Hurry Home Honey.

  • Beautiful...simply beautiful. Too many "kids" posting aircraft vids here with stupid music. It's refreshing to hear the engines for once!

  • ohh man i love the P-51 beautiful aircraft

  • hey i was wondering, how was life like in a b-25? smooth or hard?

  • they're beautiful and rare too!!

  • I don't think so this air show was in Kentucky.

I do not know who the owner of the fighter/trainers was.

  • T-28 Trojan - Navy advanced trainer used in the 50's 60's and probably allot later.

Of course the P-51 Mustang and the P-47 Thunderbolt. And the B25-j Mitchel "Show-Me"

based out of St. Louis MO. Commemorative Air Force.

  • Looks like they were flying nearby Bradly Airfield in Connecticut...my old home.

  • Isn't it great to have no music or speech on this ..just listening to the sound of these wonderful aircraft and watching the ground pass underneath for over nine minutes...thanks to the genius who posted this superb footage. absolutely wonderful!Aviation 'Nuts' will agree I'm sure.

  • definately, flying is so great

  • Love aviation. The p51, 47,and 38 are definately the aviators version of automobile muscle cars. Lethal, fast, fun, and B,E,A,UTIFUL.

  • couldn't have put it better my self

  • any avation fans out there feel free to join youtubes avation group go on my profile groups then youtubes avation group see you there

  • The P-38 was a heck of a plane---fast and maneuverable.. The trouble was, its twin booms made it easily recognizable and the Germans would just stay away. It became relegated mostly to bomber protection.

  • no, in europe becuase of the climate the p38s wouldnt work well at high altitudes where our bombers operated, they were "relegated" to ground attack. however in the pacific the p38 was flown by the top two scoring U.S. pilots during the war, Richard Bong, and Thomas Maguire. Looks had nothing to do with it, a rookie German might run from it as he might for any allied fighter, an experienced German wouldnt run from any of our planes

  • Love the P-47, everyone thinks the P-51 is the best but the '47 is a great plane in its own right!

  • if i'm not mistaken the p-47 shot down more enemy aircraft than the p-51

  • thats becuz the p-47 was out longer and had for fight time

  • I could believe that..Hurricanes shot down more german aircraft in the Battle of Britain than Spitfires did...The Spit just caught the publics imagination because it was so beautiful....as was the Mustang.

  • the Hawker was sent after the bombers...the Spitfires dealed with the escort(sevice).

Its normal that the elite-fighter oppposed the elite fighters of Germany....so its politics all the way....shooting down a bomber wasnt as brave as shooting down an escort plane trying to defend the bomber....but if the bomber came through civilian deaths where the casulties.....so blame the others...

  • but anyhow....great video of great planes...I like the P 47 and the P 51...the P38...hm I dont know....Antoine de Saint-Exupéry died in one....either he was a bad pilot ( I doubt that) or the aircraft had a malfuntion...what does not talk "pro" for the P 38

  • just look at the lines of the P51 Mustang..made to a British specification by North American Aviation because Boeing couldn't cope..Goering said "we've lost the war..they've got fighter aircraft over Berlin"..what a thoroughbred.V12.twin overhead cam,12 cylinder,27 litre,supercharged..wooooooooooow

  • the merlin is single overhead cam

  • you are right and I am wrong....I checked and it was a single overhead cam......have you heard that because they didn't know of the effect of Ethyl Lead that some engines were water injected to prevent 'Pre ignition'have you heard of this?

  • no I hadn't, it's amizing some of the technolegy that were incorporated into WW2 aircraft engines thats just recently finding it's way into "high tech" race cars

  • i like the p47...but its downfall is turning. Has bad g's

  • cool video..thanks for putting it on

  • Hey you!! what the hell do you think you are doin' filming me!? No one said anything about cameras.....

  • If I remember correctly the ME-109 came into service in 1937 maybe before and the Germans used them all the way through the war. Also time frame would come in - in 1940/1941 the best fighter could be the Zero could be the ME-109. The P-38 was always a formitable fighter too and it was an early design.

I really cannot say which fighter was the best - - I love the sound, smell, feel of all of them - keep them flying thats the ONLY way to really appreciate them!!!

  • Whats the best fighter is like asking whats the best sports car. Everybody has an opinion. Personally I love them all. I'd probably have to pick for my favorite the Mustang - but, it would be hard to choose. The best fighter based on kills would probably be the ME-109 but, it was the longest operational fighter (based on my opinion).

  • Was at an airshow here in Rome, Georgia yesterday. Had F4U Corsair, a Hellcat, two Dauntless dive bombers, P-51, B-25, 3 Zeros........ALL flying. Was commemorating the life of ADM John Towers "Father of Modern Naval Aviation and the Aircraft Carrier". He was from Rome. Yes, the corsair is the greatest! Beautiful plane to see fly.

  • I like the red on the Thunderbolt. Nice paint job.

  • NIce shoot.....i wish i could have a warbird....that would be the best....id want an F-4U corsair...Big,Loud and fast!!

  • The p47 was reffered to as the jackie gleeson of the WW2 fighters beause of its round size.Something very few people know

  • the p-47 is not so good looking as the p-51 but they both were nice fighters

its a shame that because the p-47 was deficient in long range flights so many b-17 were easy pray for those me 109

  • This video shows P-47 weight and power perfectly. And look at the size of that propeller! Some maneuverability may come from there huh? Nice video 5*s

  • the propeler was 13 ft in diameter

  • wasnt it the same engine that was used on th B29 bomber?

  • The P-47 had the 2800 engine and the B-29 used the 3350.

  • wow

  • ..... is much like flying warbirds. Wait.... EEK! There's a mouse on the canopy at 8:08.

  • wut

  • No billing for the T-28? Trojans are warbirds, too...*sniff*

  • Yes they are - my apologies- I did get a flight in a T-28 once - very fast pretty cool big bird!!!

  • I take it, this footage was taken from the side gunner positions in a B25?. Nice footage, i love WW2 planes :)

  • P51 is "Hurry Home Honey", likely flown here by Brad Hood, originally flown by Major Richard Peterson, triple ace of the 357th Fighter Group, 364th Fighter Squadron. How do I know? My father-in-law was Carroll Ofsthun, 362nd FS, who flew "The Count" and was friend of "Pete". The ace named the plane "Hurry Home Honey" from my mother's letters to him...and yes, he was my father. It's a pleasure to find this video, so familiar and personal.Take care, Judd

  • Hope you liked the video - only one I have air to air of the P-51 or p-47 for that matter. I have some B25 air to air that I need to get transfered up to digital and up to youtube. Thanks for the comment - fitting for today being the 63 aniversary of D-day.

  • Fantastic footage. Thank you!

  • Great vid. love old planes. thanks

  • wish I could ride along in a P-51...such a great aircraft

  • Love the warbirds. Thanks for sharing.

  • Beutiful.. The Thunderbolt, my favourite.. but then I do live very close to the historical BOXTED Air Station 150, where the 56th Fighter Group 'Zemkes Wolfpack' flew the 'Jug' during the last months of WWII.. The 'Pioneer Mustang Group' was also based at Boxted, flying P51 B's..

  • It must have been a hot day- the pilot in the 47 has his canopy cracked open. I love it. Thanks for the great video!

  • Cool as a frozen banana!

  • thanks for the ride - great to see those birds bobbing along off the wing ,so much better than on the ground

I take my hat off to those vets flying the cramped tail gun posistion in full kit

  • What's the story behind this great video?

  • Air show in Kentucky - at the time I was a member of the Confederate Air Force (now the Commerative Air Force) they always do rides / photoshoots for sponsors of the AirShow - the waist gun position was open - and I got to go. Some great air to air shots. The only disapointment was a Corsair was supposed to fly also but, it didn't. The CAF if there is a Wing in your area is a great way to spend some time with warbirds up close and personal (very reasonable also)

  • Is that Thunderbolt a genuine warbird??

  • Not sure of the background on the airplanes except for the B-25. The B25 was in a training squadron and then transfer to the National Guard. P-47 and P51 were/are based in Kentucky not sure at this time where it was. There was supposed to be a Corsair come up with us also but, there was a mix-up on the pilots - I was very disapointed about that - would have been soooo cool to have Mustang, Thunderbolt, AND Corsair in formation. Thanks for the comments all!!!
