I have his very first lps that never hit mainstream... I will treasure these moments of vinyl time from this legend. I lost touch as to Larry's activities and sad to hear he has gone ahead. Bless you Larry and your family.
I've enjoyed Larry's music for decades. But I am sad by the "churchianity" treatment around the fact that, after helping launch Randy Stonehill's career, Randy's wife divorced him after falling in love and then "marrying" Larry. Where was the light of truthful treatment, of "Jesus People" honesty? And what are the future ripple effects in terms of legacy and witness to others? Nevertheless, what a gifted artist.
Larry Norman was talented from birth, and was blessed by finding that truth, as he blessed us with his talent. Larry was great, but he was no Christ. Talent inspires but it does not give us eternal life, Christ did that. I have decided to expect less from people and more from God. I'll bet I see success in both areas.
I saw Larry when I was a senior in high school in Battle Creek, Michigan (USA). He, as I, had a lot of flaws and various things he battled in his life. Not one soul is perfect. He was a little more transparent with his challenges. Some people couldn't handle it. Too bad. His honesty was admirable. I miss his originality. There was never one like him, nor will there ever be again. One of a kind! Musical genius!
I saw Larry at Spokane Wa. back in 1981, he played solo.
"Play broken spirit, I shouted! He responded from stage, "I'm sorry", then with a smile he went on to a more upbeat song. "Momma killed a chicken..." with me singing along from my seat, I made him laugh, as I knew the lyrics and he actually left out a whole verse! As he continued the show.
Probably only Larry and I shared the moment.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.
WOW! What a song. It breaks my heart to hear he passed away this year. His awesome music greatly influenced me since the early '70's. We will all miss Larry very much. His music was truly blessed and anointed.
wow, pushin back the tears here, that was beautiful. Larry & his music impacted me from the early 70's in the Jesus movement. We miss you Larry, and God bless you redblack for this vid.
My memory recalls the concerts many, many years ago the fun ,the moving songs Larry gave us since I can hardly see the key board to pick this out because tears are flowing out of my eyes miss you Larry.
I was just a young man struggling in his faith when I discovered Larry Norman. I came out of the Rock culture of the 70-80's. I couldn't relate to the music that was labeled "Christian". The Lord really ministered to me through Larry's music. I know we'll meet again but I can't help but to tear up when I hear this song.
I've gone on to preach the gospel four continents wherever I go I'll be taking Larry's music with me. Goodbye Farewell my friend. Phil 3:8-10
truly the greatest christian rocker of all time...i am sad to hear about his death but i'm glad he is with the lord now! to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord.
