@Mattyboyrocks23 kung fu is a term meaning "art" wushu is a term meanin chinese martial arts, and shaolin martial art is a term that describes martial arts deriving from the shaolin monastery.....know your shit.

@xxxN1nJa5k1LZxxx Hiya mate, we use this uniform for a couple of reasons, our chief instructors 1st art studied was Taekwondo and even a correctly tied open top gi can come loose and get in the way of training.
@Raspberry123 Karate is a martial art, like Muay thai, Judo and Savate for example. The differences are usually down to the time the martial art started and why it was developed. Was it for war? Self protection? Street fighting? The list goes on but they are all as similar as they are different.
@SaB4563 Hi Sab, in this video we were testing for our 2nd degree. I've got another video of my sparring from my 3rd dan test also on this account, feel free to have a watch of that too :)
i fully agree with the amount of protection you use as the lvl of contact looks high. the last thing you need is to turn up for work with broken nose and black eyes also if peeps get hurt they need to rest so no protection can be counter productive and effect class size. the comments about speed lol ..... if you are getting hit with the force these guys are hitting each other you cant rush in or you will end up on your back .
@Xtreme360boy maybe in your opinion but I like to keep my damned good looks ;-) Go tell Manny Pacquiao to spar without a head guard, gloves and gum shield friend ;)
@Semimaru i practice kyokushin karate and we use at sparring just gloves :-) ... tre workout is great but... you saw my opinion about this kind of sparring
@tywainwright1 I'd just like to clarify sparring is NOT preparation for "real life situations" it is where you can play safely and enjoy trying out your techniques on a live opponent trying to hit you back.
It's fine to train harder and indeed we do but as we spar harder we also use appropriate protection. There is no use in feeding the ego training less safe. If you think differently that's cool but post some videos of yourself training before you mouth off.
@Semimaru First off I would like to apologize if it seemed like I was mouthing off, second is if sparring doesn't prepare you for a real life situation, then what does?
@djeq721 Like any martial art or any art it depends on both the teacher and the student. Go to your local school and see if you get on with the instructor(s). Most places will offer a free lesson or free period so you can see if it is really for you before you sign up and hand over your money. If there are no free classes ask if you can watch a class or 2 to see what you can expect, hope that helps!
I'm just wondering, but those kicks/punches don't seem fast or strong. Are they supposed to be powerful? I have taken Karate in the past, and I am not in any way trying to joke about this its a serious question.
Think this is bloody good example of controlled sparring, loved watching. Very disciplined and didn't get scrappy, don't know what video those people who were criticising it where watching! Would love to training at a club with this standard!!
@kenseisato1989 it's how we sparred years ago but we always mix it up, sometimes heavier but usually pace over power in sparring. We free spar a lot but we also do a lot of isolation, kicker vs puncher, puncher vs wrestler etc
@kenseisato1989 Evade blackbelt school, our website is evadeblackbeltschool . com, you might also enjoy my instructors youtube channel which is / user / davidbreed (just remove the spaces from the links)
I took Boxing for maybe 2 years, a yellow belt in Tang soo do, Brother taught me a little hapkido, and currently learning jujutsu. (Still learning Tang soo do also).
@triroy3 Hi triroy, thanks for your input however misled... a black belt is simply the mark of someone who has stayed the path, someone who has trained and not thrown in the towel, I am certainly no master but to say I do not deserve my belt is your mark of ignorance friend.
Could you please upload videos of yourself displaying the correct standard? What is your grade and how long have you been training in the martial arts? :-)
@Semimaru Your right, Thanks for proving my point. I mean you said it yourself. ''someone who have trained and not thrown in the towel'', It very clear in the video that you guy have not train hard enough to have the honor the Wear a Black Belt. But you was wrong when you said '' a black belt is simple a mark of someone was has the path''. No a BLACK BELT is mark of Skill Level, that mark that let everyone know you got in you.
I do not know the Correct Standard...I Am Still Learning to be one
@triroy3 If a blackbelt was a mark of skill level then every black belt would need to be the same standard otherwise it would be meaningless. It would be like having 2 £5 notes and 1 being worth more than the other.
There is a standard of skill required of course, if you feel I do not deserve my belt then please write to Shorai international, maybe you could even reference my youtube channel as evidence.
@Semimaru It is a mark of skill level....not every black belt need to be at the same standard, it mean that you have reach a certain point of skill level. It dose not state that you can't go past it. Skill Lv is is Infinity....so the belt color must stop at a point......and that all it means.
I don't not know of this Shorai international you are talking about.....are they the one who give you your black belt? wow they got some Low standard for BLACK BELT
@triroy3 You know it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt, so far you have proven yourself an avid keyboard warrior, how about you post some videos with the correct skill level you speak of? If you cannot then I must assume you know nothing of which you speak.
Why are you so confrontational with someone whom you have never and will never meet? I am sorry you are so insecure :-(
@Semimaru You know it better to remain a dumbass than acting to be smartass, I never said i knew the correct standard. All i know is that you don't have it. You can ''assume'' whatever you want, but you say i am Confrontational ( big word, trying to be a SmartAss again?'') to someone i never meet.
Oh but i don't need to. I know that your bad, your video here say it all. And it very clear.
@triroy3 HI Triroy thanks for coming back, I thought you would have worn your keyboard out with e-rage by now! If you don't know the correct standard how can you say someone does not meet it? It's like saying someone didn't run 100 miles when you have no idea how far 100 miles is.
Just think what we could learn from each other with an exchange of ideas instead of you telling me I'm not at some standard that only seems to exist within your mind. What did you hope to achieve here? :-)
@Semimaru Oh sorry i didnt respond for so long. I completely forgot the trolling i did on this video. ''if you don't know the correct standard how can you say someone does not meet it ?'' Well I never been ''Hit By Lighting'' but i know it hurts. There just somethings you know without experiencing it.
The reason I say you don't have the right to be a Black Belt is because if I work hard for my Black Belt i be piss if another kid who train not nearly has hard as me got it much easyer.Understand?
@triroy3 Thanks for pointing it out but I don't think anyone has trouble knowing a troll when they see one. Being hit by lightning and performing a series of techniques are hardly comparable, not to mention that just because you personally have no idea of the power of the bolt hitting you is no indication that there is no measure for it, simply that you are ignorant to it ;-) Understand? :-)
@Semimaru No, i don't think i do......you are going to have to use smaller words. Now that you have pointed it out, '' Runing 100 miles and performing a series of techniques are hardly comparable as well. And i clearly understand the power of a lighting bolt. It has the POWER to kill ..........hurt........burn you... Ect........
And i was not pointing out that i was a troll, i was explaining what had happen.
@triroy3 So you wern't trolling but you were? Stay off the big pharma medication bro! Also don't forget my left foot alone has the power of 500 lightening bolts!
In reference to weight distribution, you guys seem to be leaning in forwards toward each other. I'm not making a remark about it, I'm wondering because I seem to have serious range issues and I think it's related to my weight distribution. Experimenting with leaning in toward my opponents lately, but I was always under the impression we had to keep our backs straight.
Also wondering whether it's related to my feet, I tend to stay on the balls of both feet rather than having the front foot flat.
@Tinkeruk2010 Hi dude, I like to make sure I'm able to move in any direction, keep experimenting with what works for you.
I watched your video and it looks like you're doing fine just work that cardio to death! Nice counter at 2:06, movement like that will always get you scoring shots you just need the breath to maintain the movement till the end! Easier said than done but with hard work there is nothing stopping you, keep it up bro!
I've experienced all sorts or training under many legend UK/Japanese shotokan masters,,,seen all sorts of sparring, Kyokoushin, Muay Thai,Taekwondo,,have to agree with 99manj comments,,this sort of sparring is at the end of a long grading,, which is more a test of stamina and spirit,,seeing if you have trained long and hard enough to see how instinctive technique is under pressure...
Did karate for 12 years. Shito-ryu. Was on team Canada. Fought one of these "freestyle" guys before. Don't know if it was his school that was junk but I had time to sip on coffee when he would attack. lol.
love this full contact stuff. Ive been going to premiere martial arts for about 2 months now and we have this same type of full contact "go until sifu says stop" type sparring and its taxing but effective. keep it up dude, good practice makes perfect, and kudos to having someone record ya, no b etter way to find your tells than to watch yourself fight after a long day of this type of stuff.
@SmileFacePal that's because other older martial arts were designed for "1 shot 1 kill" type fighting against multiple opponents and sometimes on a battlefield. Look at the "old" karate guys who 1st brought karate to the ring, it was how kickboxing started, that is why they look so similar :)
@666hellraiser1 that's because it is kickboxing rules (like it says in the description). Freestyle karate is much more like kickboxing (which is really just karate adapted for competition) than the tradition forms of karate.
This is in response to "vallgron"'s comment.... It is very evident you've only been involved in martial arts for 5 mths.....sparring during a 2nd dan grading usually comes after anywhere from 5-10 hrs of other grading (eg. kata's, strikes, blocks, self defence tech's, etc) I would love to see how fast you are after 5 hrs of constant martial arts grading. Sparring is usually the final task of grading and to even be able to defend yourself is in itself is something most cannot achieve.
i just dont get why they are hitting so hard i meen ok its a contact sport but it would be better to show speed and accuracy and technique cuz if u can go full speed and tag your apponent and have the accuracy then what can u do adding the full contact and power
@mastapimpin91 Sometimes pressure sparring is needed,if you take a shot to the head full pelt, you'll be amazed how fast you learn to block it so you dont have to feel it again, also if you spend too long pulling your punches,in the event you need to use this for real, you'll find yourself pulling punches out of habit, its happened many many times before, not to everyone, but to some people.
why are they so god damn slow i have been doing tae kwon do for 5 months and i am way faster and i am not someone who talk about hwo muhc greater my martial art is all aboutt he person and the best of the best do like 50 martial arts
@Semimaru They are slow (their kicks are slow...) because they don´t do anything similar to karate nor any martial arts. This is simply boxing adding a couple of kicks. They use the kicks not to hit but just to either open their oponent´s guard and then punch or just push the oponent to find the correct distance for the punch. In other words, they focus on their punches but don´t know how to kick (remember they are boxers) to produce damage, they have to kick not matter what by rule.
They're doing stand up sparring and not point sparring. TKD and alot of sport Karates teach fast, evasive footwork. Older Karates more about standing your ground and slugging it out.
@vallgron From what i've experienced in the TKD world the first thing most TKD fighters do is turn their back on you as you can't score points off it,this is realistic sparring,it's slow, because if you go steaming in from the start, you tired yourself out VERY fast, you save energy, make your shots count, and you can last a lot longer, also the range in this sparring is a LOT tighter than most TKD fights.
@Dreamscape52 well like i said have not been doing it that long so dont pay attion to sutff like this and whot he the hell cares whats all this about a really spar only reason i do it cuz i find it fun dont care about much else
@vallgron if you have not being doing something for very long it is not always wise to comment in such a manner, it simply shows your lack of experience (which is not a bad thing!) Keep training friend and keep enjoying it, this is the most important part of your training :)
Not bad for karate sparring. Looks like the have some idea of what it means to keep their hands up and not to forget the body. I dunno about the double kicks in the air though...you lose alot of power that way.
@quaylou of course you can get power in a kick from the chamber. It wont be the same as kicking from the ground but more than enough for the job if you do it properly.
@suetonius01 One of your favourite books on your youtube profile is the art of war, did you not learn anything from it? I'm sorry but I'm going to block your future comments, it's sad to see a martial artist with no manners.
We can have power with control - without telegraphing our kicks and punches - it's takes a great deal of practice over our basics - practice, practice and practice. We should be able with much practice to kick to the stomach without kicking the opponents groin area.
Really? Didn't know that, ty. I heard somewhere that kickboxing wasn't just normal boxing while using legs, but I didn't know where it did come from. ;)
@Dannyboyyay That's right my friend :) Typically in kickboxing they allow more punches than in regular Queensbury rules boxing like the backfist or turning backfist, this also changes the way you must defend and move. From Shotokan to Shukokai karate then onto "kickboxing" which really started as karate in the ring. If you watch some of the old kickboxing pioneers like Andy Hug they still wore a Gi in some matches.
@Semimaru Also depending ont he country, places like thailand allow knees and elbows to be used,a guy named Benny the jet had an AMAZING spinning back kick he used ot use over in thailand, but there was a massive uproar when western kickboxing and thai kickboxing first started mixing, the western world called the thai cheaters for using elbows and knees, and the thai told people they've been doing it like that for generations.

How can you call yourself black belt.....?
Come on dude, Black Belt is high only for the Greats One
A true Karate Master should be wearing that, Not to be rude but you guys are not good enough to be Wearing BLACK BELTS
triroy3 1 year ago
@triroy3 Hi triroy, thanks for your input however misled... a black belt is simply the mark of someone who has stayed the path, someone who has trained and not thrown in the towel, I am certainly no master but to say I do not deserve my belt is your mark of ignorance friend.
Could you please upload videos of yourself displaying the correct standard? What is your grade and how long have you been training in the martial arts? :-)
Semimaru 1 year ago
@Semimaru Your right, Thanks for proving my point. I mean you said it yourself. ''someone who have trained and not thrown in the towel'', It very clear in the video that you guy have not train hard enough to have the honor the Wear a Black Belt. But you was wrong when you said '' a black belt is simple a mark of someone was has the path''. No a BLACK BELT is mark of Skill Level, that mark that let everyone know you got in you.
I do not know the Correct Standard...I Am Still Learning to be one
triroy3 1 year ago
@triroy3 If a blackbelt was a mark of skill level then every black belt would need to be the same standard otherwise it would be meaningless. It would be like having 2 £5 notes and 1 being worth more than the other.
There is a standard of skill required of course, if you feel I do not deserve my belt then please write to Shorai international, maybe you could even reference my youtube channel as evidence.
Semimaru 1 year ago
@Semimaru It is a mark of skill level....not every black belt need to be at the same standard, it mean that you have reach a certain point of skill level. It dose not state that you can't go past it. Skill Lv is is Infinity....so the belt color must stop at a point......and that all it means.
I don't not know of this Shorai international you are talking about.....are they the one who give you your black belt? wow they got some Low standard for BLACK BELT
triroy3 1 year ago
@triroy3 You know it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt, so far you have proven yourself an avid keyboard warrior, how about you post some videos with the correct skill level you speak of? If you cannot then I must assume you know nothing of which you speak.
Why are you so confrontational with someone whom you have never and will never meet? I am sorry you are so insecure :-(
Semimaru 1 year ago 7
@Semimaru You know it better to remain a dumbass than acting to be smartass, I never said i knew the correct standard. All i know is that you don't have it. You can ''assume'' whatever you want, but you say i am Confrontational ( big word, trying to be a SmartAss again?'') to someone i never meet.
Oh but i don't need to. I know that your bad, your video here say it all. And it very clear.
triroy3 1 year ago
@triroy3 HI Triroy thanks for coming back, I thought you would have worn your keyboard out with e-rage by now! If you don't know the correct standard how can you say someone does not meet it? It's like saying someone didn't run 100 miles when you have no idea how far 100 miles is.
Just think what we could learn from each other with an exchange of ideas instead of you telling me I'm not at some standard that only seems to exist within your mind. What did you hope to achieve here? :-)
Semimaru 1 year ago
@Semimaru Oh sorry i didnt respond for so long. I completely forgot the trolling i did on this video. ''if you don't know the correct standard how can you say someone does not meet it ?'' Well I never been ''Hit By Lighting'' but i know it hurts. There just somethings you know without experiencing it.
The reason I say you don't have the right to be a Black Belt is because if I work hard for my Black Belt i be piss if another kid who train not nearly has hard as me got it much easyer.Understand?
triroy3 1 year ago
@triroy3 Thanks for pointing it out but I don't think anyone has trouble knowing a troll when they see one. Being hit by lightning and performing a series of techniques are hardly comparable, not to mention that just because you personally have no idea of the power of the bolt hitting you is no indication that there is no measure for it, simply that you are ignorant to it ;-) Understand? :-)
Semimaru 1 year ago
@Semimaru No, i don't think i do......you are going to have to use smaller words. Now that you have pointed it out, '' Runing 100 miles and performing a series of techniques are hardly comparable as well. And i clearly understand the power of a lighting bolt. It has the POWER to kill ..........hurt........burn you... Ect........
And i was not pointing out that i was a troll, i was explaining what had happen.
triroy3 1 year ago

Tinkeruk2010 1 year ago
@Tinkeruk2010 Hi dude, I like to make sure I'm able to move in any direction, keep experimenting with what works for you.
I watched your video and it looks like you're doing fine just work that cardio to death! Nice counter at 2:06, movement like that will always get you scoring shots you just need the breath to maintain the movement till the end! Easier said than done but with hard work there is nothing stopping you, keep it up bro!

@Semimaru
Thanks for the kind words man, currently going back to my stance/footwork to try and improve my range issue.
Take care.

Every time I see sparring for anything, it always ends up looking just lick regular kickboxing (without elbows and knees). Ah well.
SmileFacePal 1 year ago
@SmileFacePal that's because other older martial arts were designed for "1 shot 1 kill" type fighting against multiple opponents and sometimes on a battlefield. Look at the "old" karate guys who 1st brought karate to the ring, it was how kickboxing started, that is why they look so similar :)

more like kickboxing than karate
666hellraiser1 1 year ago
@666hellraiser1 that's because it is kickboxing rules (like it says in the description). Freestyle karate is much more like kickboxing (which is really just karate adapted for competition) than the tradition forms of karate.

karate isnt supposed to be quick pased well yes it is but it dosnt have to its all about reading your oppenent and getting him of balance
stevenbean1 1 year ago
This is in response to "vallgron"'s comment.... It is very evident you've only been involved in martial arts for 5 mths.....sparring during a 2nd dan grading usually comes after anywhere from 5-10 hrs of other grading (eg. kata's, strikes, blocks, self defence tech's, etc) I would love to see how fast you are after 5 hrs of constant martial arts grading. Sparring is usually the final task of grading and to even be able to defend yourself is in itself is something most cannot achieve.

i just dont get why they are hitting so hard i meen ok its a contact sport but it would be better to show speed and accuracy and technique cuz if u can go full speed and tag your apponent and have the accuracy then what can u do adding the full contact and power
mastapimpin91 1 year ago
@mastapimpin91 Sometimes pressure sparring is needed,if you take a shot to the head full pelt, you'll be amazed how fast you learn to block it so you dont have to feel it again, also if you spend too long pulling your punches,in the event you need to use this for real, you'll find yourself pulling punches out of habit, its happened many many times before, not to everyone, but to some people.

both of these guys did well and they fought hard......haters
ZzJustinZ 1 year ago
why are they so god damn slow i have been doing tae kwon do for 5 months and i am way faster and i am not someone who talk about hwo muhc greater my martial art is all aboutt he person and the best of the best do like 50 martial arts
vallgron 1 year ago
@vallgron congratulations on being very fast
Semimaru 1 year ago
@Semimaru They are slow (their kicks are slow...) because they don´t do anything similar to karate nor any martial arts. This is simply boxing adding a couple of kicks. They use the kicks not to hit but just to either open their oponent´s guard and then punch or just push the oponent to find the correct distance for the punch. In other words, they focus on their punches but don´t know how to kick (remember they are boxers) to produce damage, they have to kick not matter what by rule.
fernandobodi 1 year ago
@vallgron
They're doing stand up sparring and not point sparring. TKD and alot of sport Karates teach fast, evasive footwork. Older Karates more about standing your ground and slugging it out.
Greenacres88 1 year ago
@vallgron From what i've experienced in the TKD world the first thing most TKD fighters do is turn their back on you as you can't score points off it,this is realistic sparring,it's slow, because if you go steaming in from the start, you tired yourself out VERY fast, you save energy, make your shots count, and you can last a lot longer, also the range in this sparring is a LOT tighter than most TKD fights.
Any fighter should know this.
Dreamscape52 1 year ago
@Dreamscape52 well like i said have not been doing it that long so dont pay attion to sutff like this and whot he the hell cares whats all this about a really spar only reason i do it cuz i find it fun dont care about much else
vallgron 1 year ago
@vallgron if you have not being doing something for very long it is not always wise to comment in such a manner, it simply shows your lack of experience (which is not a bad thing!) Keep training friend and keep enjoying it, this is the most important part of your training :)

@Semimaru ya i guess

Not bad for karate sparring. Looks like the have some idea of what it means to keep their hands up and not to forget the body. I dunno about the double kicks in the air though...you lose alot of power that way.

Good job guys. Nice testing. Good power, Technique and control.

jevinkevin 1 year ago
the guy in the red helmet should know that you should never double kick in the air at :08 seconds because you get no power in your kicks that way
quaylou 1 year ago
@quaylou of course you can get power in a kick from the chamber. It wont be the same as kicking from the ground but more than enough for the job if you do it properly.

We can have power with control - without telegraphing our kicks and punches - it's takes a great deal of practice over our basics - practice, practice and practice. We should be able with much practice to kick to the stomach without kicking the opponents groin area.

@Dannyboyyay kickboxing has its roots in karate :-)
Semimaru 1 year ago
@Semimaru
Really? Didn't know that, ty. I heard somewhere that kickboxing wasn't just normal boxing while using legs, but I didn't know where it did come from. ;)
Dannyboyyay 1 year ago
@Dannyboyyay That's right my friend :) Typically in kickboxing they allow more punches than in regular Queensbury rules boxing like the backfist or turning backfist, this also changes the way you must defend and move. From Shotokan to Shukokai karate then onto "kickboxing" which really started as karate in the ring. If you watch some of the old kickboxing pioneers like Andy Hug they still wore a Gi in some matches.
Semimaru 1 year ago
@Semimaru Also depending ont he country, places like thailand allow knees and elbows to be used,a guy named Benny the jet had an AMAZING spinning back kick he used ot use over in thailand, but there was a massive uproar when western kickboxing and thai kickboxing first started mixing, the western world called the thai cheaters for using elbows and knees, and the thai told people they've been doing it like that for generations.
It's quite a vicious world over there.
