can someone please answer this please? why do women's singing voices sound similar in these older films, like judy garland, betty hutton and doris day? its the same these days, all female vocalists sound similar in the same era. but compare betty huttons voice to nicole sherzinger or brittany spears and theyre totally different.

@yrti0121 well i think that in each era there of course is a different style in clothing, different things that are popular, which help define that era. And if u notice, which u have, that goes for the style of singing as well. A style of singing becomes popular and there fore many of the singers of that time sing in that way. Look at to day, for example. Justin Beiber, Rihana, Katy Perry, all sing in a similar way. Same goes for the type of music.
