@turnipofficer amen to that. That performance is the most amazing thing i've ever seen. They break it down real funky... someone needs to remix these guys videos to some tasty techno or something!
some people are trying to tell us here that MJ was as talented a dancer as these guys here....oh Come on ...do you guys have shit in your eyes or what ???
wow im 20 and im just really digging into the "real old school" music history and it puts the trash they call music today to complete utter shame from the guys and some before them to michael jackson are the REAL MUSICIANS not the crappy musicians today they talk only on sex, drugs, money, cars, women....real musicians talk on the issues that we all face and dont beat down on the other.
It's incredible - i wished,I could do some of that stuff!! Amazing - and so much fun to watch - its pure happiness! I dont even get a normal wing together, let alone a series just on toes. UUUUHHH, what inspiration!!!
They slide on the steel "cleats" plus the soles and heels were leather, and if you're old enough to have had a pair of leather soled shoes you'll remember how they got slippery after a little wear. The dance segment in A/C's movie "Pardon My Sarong was great too! Another great dance clip is in Abbott and Costello's "In the Navy".It's the Condos Brothers dancing on gun turrets on a ship. Thanx for posting!
How in the world do they slide around like that on the big block thing? it there shoes, the block, or is it just a move there pulling? thats amazing. They do a lot of nice stuff, a joy to watch.
Thanks so much! I've heard of Tip Tap and Toe for years, but never got to see footage! I <3 YouTube, and what great service it does for the Tap Dance Community! Thank you!!!
TIP TIP and TOE were: Samuel Green (tip), Ted Fraser (tap) and Ray Winfield (toe). Often danced on table tops and other small spaces, with Ray considered to be the innovator of the sliding style of tap, later copied by everyone.
Movies: All By Myself (1943) and You Can't Have Everything (1937)
Why must you compare with Mike? Michael J., like these performers, is another talented dancer in a never ending line of talented Black dancers in the history of this country. The "moon walk" and other moves Mike made famous were performed before him. It is not necessary to put down one, to appreciate the others. Mike has helped to erase some of our society's racism allowing other Black performers to reach a level of stardom that countless Black folks did not. So, mad props to Mike.
The problem with MJ was he took credit for stuff he did not actually create. He never gave credit to his teacher in the 1970's...Poppin Taco who in fact taught him the moonwalk.
Fantastic!
