Paranoia - great way to control the uneducated masses. They knew full well that ducking and covering would do nothing to save you from fallout, flying debris, radiation, etc., but they also knew that people were much more naive and unsophisticated back then and would do any ridiculous thing their leaders told them to do. Perhaps my remark was a bit simplistic, but paranoia is a big part of how the government keeps us in check, along with "disinformation" (their word, not mine - mine would be "bullshit") and out-and-out lying. Unfortunatly the heat generated from the A-Bomb can infiltrate any area since the level of heat would be very high and even if you docked and covered it wouldn't protect you from the radiation generated from the A-Bomb which is an unfortunate truth indeed but I love all this retro stuff so much and at least Ducking and covering is at least something to do to try and save one self from the A-Bomb though which is a good thing to know. :) Gotta love this retro stuff! I know I still do! ^^
