I agree with you. Their new set is just great. It's perfect for them for when they have breaking news when and wherever it happens. And especally during Election Coverage it is perfect. I wish Dan Rather was still on anchoring CBS Evening News too. I had a dream to take over for this show someday too. Or Countdown on MSNBC. Either job is really rewarding.
Great clip. This is from January 31, 1996. The new set debuted February 1, 1996.
CBS changed its graphics at the same time it changed its set. This broadcast was the last to use that particular typeface and logo for the closing credits.
It would be interesting to see the opening from this night. Do you have that as well?
The graphics used at the debut of this set was used from February 1, 1996 to April 30, 2000. The second graphics package with this set was used from May 1, 2000 to September 4, 2006.
@whitsoxrule The set was then refreshed with LED screens, Barco and Christie Digi systems. Updated computers, webcast control facilities and HD Cameras in 2006. The control room was upgraded in 2008 for HD.
why on earth do we need to have HD i mean how much more real does TV need to look

When Did The New Set Constructed Before Was Introduced By Dan Rather, Is it Similar to The Present ABS-CBN's Newscenter?

Very interesting.
They have a nice set today as well. If only we had the anchor and newscast to match it!

They used that set for a LONG time. It wasn't bad but it got dated looking toward the end.
