What an interesting point of view you presented! There's no a powerful force as empowerment, being a creator, and I totally agree, it comes to a choice, like AA, one day at a time, one moment counts. Every present moment, that is to live in the now. Very good, thanks!
I agree with BenevolentWarrior. Susan, what Bears is saying is that if you are addicted to food and fat, you can decide that you aren't addicted to food anymore. You can't decide you aren't fat if you are, tho. That said, obesity may reinforce the eating disorder, but it doesn't constitute it or start it. The person first gained weight by eating too much, not the other way around. And one if experience in addiction is required to comprehend it, I challenge you to get experience in common sense.
@Creznic1 Where is Susan comment now ? Can we have the right to speak up our mind or is this tread controlled by a Communist regime?
It is easy to say " I am not Addicted!" and think you are not addicted anymore will you keep continuing the addiction. I am Soft drink addict ... you may think it is a easy addiction to get read off.. wrong. ADDICTION is something that is in your brain and will control you to continue that ADDICTION or ELSE. Else, is Irritating or violent mood, depression etc.
How do you know it is impossible to comprehend an experience without experiencing it? Everyone and their behavior-choices are self-motivated, based on ones beliefs as to how best to deal with whatever they perceive is going on. What we choose to see, interpretively, is exactly how each chooses. bw
Dear Bears, I love you and I love Option, but this piece on addictions does not resonate with my experience. I believe food addiction - any addiction, for that matter - is physical, as well as cognitive. I also think that unless you have the experience of being addicted—that is, of being obsessed and driven by a substance—it is impossible to comprehend that experience. I guess you could say this belief works for me! Hope you and Samahria are staying warm!! Love you very much, Susan

Wow, what a choice to limit and to put-down.

I have never found, beyond general groups, support in overcoming a Television Addiction.
