  • Hi, nope you still need a mod chip, this is for original games only.. cheers..

  • This looks like a really good mod to get done. Can this be done to a model 2 Saturn(PAL)? and would I still be forced to use the swap trick to play my backups? or do you deal with mod chips also? (price?) Thanks.

  • It only works for original games.. can be done to any model, region etc of Sega Saturn! Backups do need a mod chip, I have them £20 extra inc fitting if your having the switchless mod done.. cheers..

  • thanx for telling me that,i'm stuck with this switchless mod saturn wich doesn't much more then a regular saturn with action replay but 60hz.they didn't told me the backup wont work so now i'm stuck with it. i would like a backup mod but do the math.i bought it from england it finally arived,later on i notice back up doesn't work= pretty useless saturn,i want to play my imports with the backups mostly kof etc,now it'll cost me allot. extra to do the slot mod holland to england and back.

  • I have mod chips available they are very easy to install on model 2 Saturns - it is just one wire, if you can find someone that can solder they can most likely install it for you. The mod chip is very small and light, shipping is extremely cheap.

  • great mod, i've looked into doing this myself but i dont have a good enough sense of humour should i screw it up. how much would you do this to a saturn for? (i've checked your site but can't find anything)

  • Hi, I can do it for £40 excluding return delivery. Any model or region of Sega Saturn is fine.. thanks.

  • Does this mod allow backups?

  • Nope it doesn't, for that you would need a seperate modchip which fits in between the CD unit and mainboard.

  • Ok thanks. Thats still a really nice mod. Damn my model 1 saturn.

  • No probs. Yeah, well actually you can fit a modchip in a model 1 Saturn, but the modchip has to be modded! (I have some) and then it works flawlessly. The only problem is there is one particular version of model 1 Saturn which has a very short ribbon cable from the CD unit to mainboard so that version isn't very reliable to modchip. All of the others work great though.

  • Thanks for all the info. I'll have to open it and see if i have the 64 pin or the 32. the 64 is the problem one right?

  • No problem, it doesn't really matter whether it is 64 or 32 pin.

  • hi , can you buy a do it yourself kit ? Thanks

  • Sorry, I don't sell a kit at the moment, but I can fit it into your Saturn for a fair price if you send it to me.

  • How much do you think it would cost then?

  • Hi, I can do it for £40 excluding return delivery. Thanks.

  • is this for both models of the saturn that can do this or is it jus a mod.....

  • It is a mod that can be done on either model of Sega Saturn.

  • i must say this is pretty awesome, i have a modded saturn my and its very good what they done just a small 50/60hz switch at the back of the console and a hidden country switch in the cartridge slot so it virtually looks un modded but this is the very best saturn mod i have seen as it changes nothing about the look of the system and to change everything then u just use the reset button as it is at the front, very convenient and functional, absolutely bloomin marvellous mate :D

  • Thanks. I used to do it with the switches too, but this is a lot better.

  • Did you make this yourself? Know where I can get this done?

  • Yep I did perform the mod myself. Looking at your profile it seems that you're from the USA, I don't know anyone in the USA that actually does this, in fact I am probably one of the only people in the world that does. Since I'm in the UK it could turn out costly, but if you're still interested feel free to shoot me a mail and we could certainly sort something out.

  • Let me see If I can dig up some here in the US to do this as I know that shipping and exchange rates will be costly but if not I will certainly set something up with you

    thx!

  • i dont see nothing "Switchless"

    unless ya describe well on it

  • Well normally you have switches fixed somewhere to the case, two of them, a two-position one to change the hertz, and a three-position one to change the region. As you can see in the video I'm controlling everything by pressing the reset button for different amounts of time.. so it's "switchless".

  • not bad

    what's the diff. versions between this USA, Euro or Japan tho

  • USA = 60Hz

    Japan = 60Hz

    Euro = 50Hz

    Basically Europe can't play in full screen without a mod, and all of the coolest games are Japanese anyway.

    So now you can have the best of everything :-)
