theyve been receiving god's help (in the form of christian missionaries who give the birmese people clean water in exchange for conversion) and it only made the situation worse...what they need is help from someone that cares about them, and its pretty tough to make the case that an imaginary entity is capable of caring, or helping...please dont bring god into this, this is a REAL problem...
you're absolutely right, but perhaps even more troubling is the role that the United States' oil interests played in destabilizing burma, though you're spot on about Ang San Suu Kyi, b ut it could be worse, she could have been assassinated by the CIA like so many other democratically elected heads of state.
The plight of the Burmese people is heartbreaking. They have no voice and when they tried to elect a leader in Ang San Suu Kyi, she was arrested. Incredibly sad that the military leader assholes can get away with this crime.
