  • 'GTF outta my way, I'm burnin' up!!!' at 0:29 That was a close one, guys. I'm very happy everyone went home.

  • no audio?

  • luck lucky lucky hope that never happens to me

  • The time it takes to get the fan, set it up (hope it’s fueled and ready) can be better spent locating and confining the fire and stretching a line capable of extinguishing the fire.

  • PPV is an excellent choice IF all the factors are met, staffing, communication, timing and skills competence. Unfortunately we all (Dept.) lack one or more of these elements at any given job and that is why PP fails. Confining a fire and timing aggressive interior attack with ventilation (taking a window) will give you the same effect.

  • Damm they were sure HOT glad they all got out safely mainly thanks to their safety gear

  • HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT!!! Wow talk about a situation you never want to be in. Thank god they had a hoseline. That is the hottest you will ever get at a structure fire maybe in the fire service..The worst part of it is its OMG Hot then you put water on it. And you get all that steam and it becomes Holy F*ckn Shit Hot. and you just wanna crawl through the floor to get away man Glad every one got out. Great video.. Be Safe Brothers (Lets All Make It Home)

  • Man, that was too close to a funeral for me, just couldn't get ahold of it before the rollover/flash. Not a good time to block the door with a fan though.. Play safe..

  • I will give credit to the nozzelman who snuffed it toward the end of the vid.

  • What where those guys doing inside there anyway .... ?

  • who let the retard bus out by the fire and didn't give them PPE ohh there firefighters?...dumbasses

  • A total shambles. Quite frightening when you think you could end up at a fire depending on these idiots to support or save you.

  • These guys are pathetic. Everyone of them was standing up for starters. One guy didn't even have his gloves on, and there are about 6 guys on fire and no water to be seen anywhere. I would be embarrassed if i were in this video.

  • 2 man in 2 man out rule..??

  • @rsw2009 where im from the two in two out rule applies to two men in and two trucks out...pathetic but not far from the truth...

  • Well what alot of you havent noticed and a few of you have about 0:17 mark you see him pulling back a vent fan. This ultimately was the cause of the extremely fast fire growth. This is incorrect ventilation. When you use a vent fan at the door like they did with active fire essentially you are just feeding the fire. Fortunatly those involved were not seriously injured. Stay Safe Brothers. never use a ventilation fan during an active fire, they are best used for overhaul.

  • @shaun6906

using positive vent is one of the best ways to find victims and the seat of a fire if done CORRECTLY. ventilation should never be turned on until fire attack calls for it. i find a lot of tunnel vision on the fire ground will result in people forgetting this major factor. i was caught upstairs in a house fire because ventilation was set up and basically forgotten.. we had to bail out a 2nd story window. if you are tasked to ventilation do it thoroughly and correctly. lives at stake

  • these guys like to fall down.

  • damn there turnout gear was off-gassing!

  • That is why ventilation is so important. Those guys took a beating. Not good for those fellas. Man that sucks.

  • Organize ur shit guys thats chaos one could mess up and kill everyone ... My opinion is. That u shouldn't have anyone that's not in full Ppe near that area

  • thats why you cut a big ole hole above the fire when it looks like that. also a 2" line with a 2 1/2" backup and you shoulkd have a chance at breaking its back. no vent no improvement in interior conditions= dead firemen. there f'n lucky!

  • positive pressure ventilation will reduce the risk of this happening.

  • ok since im a trained firefighter i think i can point out the bad things. number one this was in mexica not texan number two that fan was the first mistake, when that brownish colored smoke started to puff out n speed up u get your asses out of there. and y wasn't the windows or the roof vented?

  • @eric610169 what does the brownish smoke mean (and the other colors of smoke in other cases)?

  • why was there a fan being set up at the front door?????

  • I agree, it's easy to play armchair QB on this one. It's never good when you come out of a building and your gear is smoking. The first team (the team we see) may have been comprised of search and rescue and attack teams, but it is hard to be sure. After the firefighters exit, a second team on the backside gets a knockdown on the fire. As for the red helmet, that's probably a rookie that wasn't allowed to enter the structure. He was only doing what rookies do best. Getting in the way :)

  • that captains like get your ass out of there!!!!!!!

  • Lowering neutral layer, fingers of fire on the ceiling, dramatic increase in temp. Be aware or become a statistic brothers.

  • I'm no expert but all firemen are over worked and underpaid.

  • @tj987654987654Andrew Agreed we are, considering 73% of firefighters are volunteer

  • Theres always gonna be critics to something, Gotta have the "experts" hide behind their keyboard and give advice. GIve the guys credit for being there and trying to put out the fire, To those who compained about how they did things, Lets not hope your in the same situation as them.

  • The most important thing is they got out in time to survive the flash.

  • - @661Laser -

    You've described a delayed flashover.

There's more than one type of flashover...

  • i've never been in a flashover, but my buddy said that the smoke starts falling to the ground? anyone know?

  • he is right... when the smoke falls quickly it is one indicator... that is what happened at the sofa super store... but for the most part if your ears start to burn it is time to cool the space.

  • These guys had the right idea to get out when they did, otherwise they'd be dead. Flashover will kill any human being.

  • a flash over is when everthing in a room ignites at the same time. a back draft it an explosion that is created when you introduce oxygen into an oxygen deprived enviorment

  • right

  • you bloody Americans have no idea!!!

  • @danniyboy1989 ha! even here down in australia where its rare for back draughts i still know what they are,

  • @000PUMPER000 what are u?? Metro or Country fire service???

  • i would be metro, why?

  • @000PUMPER000 just curious.

  • can any tell me the difference between a flash over and a backdraft. i know back draft exploder, but isnt a flash over suppose to explode too?

  • Yes, in layman terms Backdraft is when there is no oxygen left to burn in a contained space, Flash Over is when the carbon in the air becomes en-flamed. Get low, and get the hell out.

  • @camanokid so the flames ignite the cardon in flash overs, and is back draft the build up of heat push the smoke out?

  • a flashover happens when oxygen is allowed to get to all the pyrolised gas (smoke) in the house causing the whole atmosphere in the house to catch fire along with everything inside

More an external where as the air pressure inside the bruning house becomes so much that it breaks a window or soft spot causing all the gasses to burst out and mix with a low pressure system the gasses mix with air and all 3 elements are available (oxygen, fuel, heat) so the gasses ignite.

  • Has anyone heard of vertical ventilation? Number one way to prevent flashover. Well I guess not feeding the fire with fresh air from a PPV fan would have been a big help! Hope all brothers got out ok. Practice makes perfect, drill drill drill, fans clear smoke on extinguish fire!

  • damn boys....

  • omg a ppv with a attack line layed in.

  • thats called not being as smart as the equipment you are operating...

  • would not be proud of that. seems you guess need to stay away from PPV when fire attack is going on

  • Im not sure if im right..but to me it looks like they had a PPV fan infront of the house. PPV should be used after the fire is put out to remove smoke. It can be used by highly trained crews on an attack, if they know what theyre doing. The fan added more air to the fire thus creating a larger one...im not to sure but i think thats what happened

  • @76DePack83 i think ur right

  • I've always respected Firefighters, i can't believe these guys walked out of there. I was caught in a house fire and had no escape route, i had to go out a 2nd floor window. I remember that fire was so loud and hot and made noises like a living beast. You guys be safe.

  • hell yea thats how we do it in the south

  • @zionfire1428 Im glad my family lives in the north

  • Ok stop being negative and give thwm positive feed back. Try to show them what they can do to improve. At least try acting like a BROTHER ADN SISTER HOOD. 4alarm is right we didn't hear the inital report... Get over yourselves and start treating ppl in the same feild as you with RESPECT. You guys were heroic adn brave... Good job. Goodluck in the future, In the mean time be safe

  • i give that a big thumbs up

  • To all the comments below thank you for showing us just how ignorant you are. You were not there, you didnt hear the initial reports, you didnt see what it looked like when the first crews got there. There were reports of an adult and child that lived there, there were cars in the driveway. The fire hadnt gotten so bad that it was blowing out the front windows yet. This video is a short clip probably 7 or 8 minutes after the initial arrival. But no really Thanks for all the support BROTHERS.

  • 4alarm, any chcnace you could give us a description of what you saw upon arrival. im a uk crew commander and would like to use this video as part of a lecture im giving to my crew, and a pre vieo description would be really useful. hope everybody was ok, especially the guy who came out pyrolising!

  • I am glad to see all of you guys made it out. The positive thing that I saw was that you guys did, from what i saw on the video was that you guys had a line with you. Because most companys in that position doing the search for the vic's wouldn't have a hose line. I was wondering also if you guy's had a company venting that stucture on the C Side of the building, if you guy's did have a company assigned to that task, that PPV Fan would have worked out better for your crew.

  • i like how the positive pressure vent fan is blowing more air into the fire. remember the fire triangle? do we need a refesher course?

  • i think you need to finish your fire science courses before you talk trash

  • @xAugust10x soo true

  • Not all Fire Scenes have Chaos, ecspecially if u have a good command structure. There is a thing called scene size up and it all comes into play right when the call is dispatched. I know not all places are the same but where I come from all houses are built relatively the same way and we have pre-plans of most of our buildings. And the best bet for this fire would be a defensive to offensive attack darken that fire down then get in thier and knock it down completely. Stay Safe brothers/sisters.

  • sound??

  • the fan is for venting the smoke.if the fires not out all the way than your going to light it up. its a good way to burn a house down or get some one hurt.

  • Here's a thought. When the house is already so involved that there are already flames showing throught the windows, you DON'T FUCKING GO IN. Obviously its already too hot in there, just use an exterior attack, not risk your life and go in for an interior attack. DUMBASSES

  • LMFAO where are you a fireman at? 3 man companies huh? you go in and quick attack on that fire. If you are in a district far from help? You lay into a hydrant and get in there! That house is not too hot! How many fires you been in? Pussies now of days! Too hot???? My GOD! You are in the wrong career!

  • You yanks are some of the most idiotic firefighters no wonder you lose so many men a year!!! I am a firefighter in England you don`t go in to a building thats so involved in flames you can be a hero or a zero and go home in a body bag

  • Don't let some of these videos fool u into thinking we are all idiotic and trying to get our seleves killed all companies obviously do things there own way pending on how solid thier command structure is. Some guys just tend to get over excited do stupid shit and get people hurt or killed

  • Idiotic

  • What is this?

How to do not? U should chance the Job!

  • Looks like a Monkey fuckin a football! Seriously, is this supposed to be a training burn? Or were they havin trouble finding the fire. If you want to find fire that was hiding, put the positive pressure fan in front of door and don't vent anything else, you won't have to wait long! Also, i assume the red hat is a captain, looks like he's trying to get the nozzle to put some fire out! Maybe that he saved somebody's ass by doin that.

  • Does any body else notice the fan? It looks like PPV was put into place, but not properly used. There needs to be coordination with vertical or horizontal ventilation when PPV is used. If you just blow a fan into a structure fire with no where for the fire to go, its gonna flash on you....

  • Texas Barbecue Crew ;-)

  • I like how they're trying to get the people with no PPE back and then the people just come right back.. Stubborn.

  • Number of issues here 1. why were there people at the door with no PPE? 2. Why the hell was there a red helmet just sitting there in the way while guys were trying to get out? I would have beat that guys ass if he kept me from getting out of a flashover 3. Wheres the backup line? 4. Wheres the RIT team?

  • @dasichfan it wasnt a helmet in the door it was a fan.

  • @dasichfan lotta good question, and yeah who the hell are the blue jacket guys, wtf man.... lucky there weren't any deaths--from what was shown.

  • @dasichfan what text book did you pull this list out of everyone know in a real live house fire some times your back ups still on the way, ever heared of being the first due truck prolly not? huh usally when ppl put stuff up like this are fresh out of an academy an have never been in a fire..but anways be safe..

  • someone yurn on that fan at the wrong time wow

  • hmmm this is borderline mayday conditions! command should have reconized the scene was goin south on them and went defensive mode, poss pressure or not was this risking alot to save alot? cause risk nothing to save nothing? property looks lost cause, sorry! stay safe so everyone goes home!

  • Yeah, but these boys are from Texas.

  • I think what everyone is missing here is that PPV Positive Pressure Ventilation(that thing everyone seems to be tripping over as they run out the door) is probably being used improperly and contributing to the "flashover" conditions.

  • Great training footage, unfortunately seems to be a poorly anticipated fire behavior situation. That house should have been attacked with a transitional approach from outside until proper ventilation could take place with no crews inside if it was too late for ventilation techniques.

  • My hat is off to them....damn!!!!!!!!!

  • a ff was trapped in the front right room and he was nearly killed-burnt badly. 3 flashovers during this fire.

  • Nasty Fire.

Good experience for the guys :) lol

I always fill em up with a bit of fog before playing,,, Steam doesnt quite burn like the flashover..

  • there is no such thing as a "CONTROLLED Fire scene." becuase no two fires are the same. I would say those firefighters have some balls for staying that long in there if their gear was in the preflashover phase... that means they took on A LOT of heat.

  • how do you figure defense attacks. are any of you actually been on a fire scene... this is about a minute of just the portion of the fire that flashed. see the FF's that came out.. they were inthe preflashover stage (vaporizing of solids) becuase the vapors are what burn in a fire. the fire probably started in a room and contents fashion and then developed and rolled out of the area and flashed quickly on them. and fire scenes are chaotic no matter where you are at. its the nature of the beast.

  • Thats a defensive attack right off the bat....if there was anyone inside they were even before you got there.

  • Engagement minimum ?

Bah pas aux États-Unis on dirait ...

Ils étaient 4 ou 5 dans la maison ...

  • because anyone who was holding a camera is busy trying to get in the fire :p

  • I hope there are also some good Fire Brigades in the USA ;-)

All these Videos just show a complete mess in organisation and no actual clou how to fight a fire or cool down hot smoke... I'm sure there are some positive Examples, but why don't we see any on Youtube?

  • yeah there are. but how can you organize shit when youre running into a fire the second you get out of a truck and you have no idea what the house is like inside

  • ok lets get this staraight usa firefighting is the best ok you fire brigade faqs we dont call the usa fd fire brigade we call it fire departmen get it right!

  • dude..FDNY... rockstars of the fire service. you only see mostly bad because people like to see chaos. dont generalize or stereotype our fire departments. I,m sure your depts fuck up just as well

  • Das sind die Amis, egal ob es was zu retten gibt oder nicht hauptsache mit allen Mann rein!

  • seems to be fuckin hot! were the injured?

  • Where was the back-up line?

  • that was the first thing i thought about

  • Whoa, was there someone stuck inside??
