those 2 bombs werent dropped for pay back at Pearl Harbor, dropping the bombs was the fastest, and most efficiant way to end WW2. not to mention it saved many lives dropping the bombs.

@aallee6 haha, it was about 2 days after the bomb exploded on hiroshima that they surrendered, if they surrendered before the bombs exploded, we wouldnt have blew up japan. That way lives would be saved, there is no reason to prove that the usa was the most powerful country when other countries saw the test explosion. Would you make a call to destroy 2 cities in japan and kill thousands of people just for an image? an image that would backfire in the us?

@ammy9tails actually what happened was the Roosevelt died and Harry Truman decided after only five days in office and knowing nothing about them(the atomic bombs) decided that it would be better to drop bomb on civilian cities with military garrisons which weren't hit. Why because the ratio of death would've been 3 yankes to 1 jap just like it had been up until that point. That and they wanted to prove a point to the world.
