  • y do polly and shelly see their weight but not the other girl/s?

  • @tatulover2120 depends where you are in treatment and if the team thinks you can handle it. I have been in treatment for over years still have blind weights

  • @umassigkap 5 years

  • howcome just that one girl isnt allowed to see her weight

  • @alicedee100 i think thats because she is new in that place?

  • "Holy fuck she's making friends this must mean something seriously bad is going to happen!" C'mon, guys. She has friends. That doesn't mean you shouldn't worry about her purging, but chill the fuck out.

  • am i the only one that thought they were gonna break a bone when they were jumping from the chair?

  • @Heather146 I always worry about that!!

  • You have to be able to eat things like pizza to fully recover. If you just eat healthy things it's still eating disordered. They teach you that you can eat things like chips and cake sometimes without having to feel guilty. Im in recovery myself.

  • really! you are freaking 300 lbs and telling someone else whats healthy! !!!!!!!!

  • I think its very disturbing! why would they feed the girls PIZZA ? I thought this was a place to get healthy? Why shove freaking crap down peoples throat! How about some Healthy stuff!

How can you recover and feel healthy being supervised by obese nurses ?

  • @TheNicSpace because i think that theyre trying to show the girls that eating pizza occassionallyt ain't gonna kill them or get them fat.

  • do the people that work here know NOTHING about eating disorders? god fucking damn they could be just a bit nicer. i'm never going back to that place, because they really don't understand nor try to understand the person's feelings that well and the way they work with them isn't good. i mean, the groups are fun, and you meet really cool people just like you, but a lot of these people are really vulnerable and sensitive, so go easy on them... they want to feel cared for, i'm sure.

  • i keep commenting bc this clinic is fucking awful. if she wants to FUCKING cuss let her FUCKING cuss. they arent at cotillion class. FUCK. i dont have an eating disorder but i have depression and anxiety and my therapist is GREAT. i have improved SO much and when i cuss she does NOT care and she has even cussed herself. my therapist says "whats the bigger issue here? helping your depression or cleaning up your language? i dont fucking care if you cuss" love her!!

  • wow that therapist who told shelly that she didnt trust her...omg. stfu!!!!! i feel like these people are acting like they are coaching a sport, not helping people recover. its absolutely ridiculous and honestly embarrassing for the US.

  • @Katharine777 Eating disorders are all about deceit. These people have been able to maintain their disorders for so long because they've manipulated everyone around them. I think the nurses and counselors are being so "mean" because they're trying to send the woman the message that they can't lie and cheat their way out of their problems anymore. It's tough love.

  • these counselors piss me off. i dont have a damn degree but i would be soooo much more empathetic. screw medical terms and lingo and reading straight from the book, speak to their fucking souls you idiot doctors!! lol makes me sooo mad!! they aren't showing these girls how beautiful they are

  • "I love you, Polly." Everyone loves Polly ):

  • Shelly must watch this scene at the end where there all having a good time jumping on the bed, and her heart must just break every time :( rip Polly

  • Comment removed

  • At the end of the video they jump from the window sill onto the bed like me and my friends lol

  • cindy is hot

  • Why are most of the therapists overweight??

  • @8ELITE8 Give the patients something to shoot for???

  • That nutritionist is ruthless, can someone please revoke her license??

  • Awww "polly wolly, I love you Polly" that nurse is really nice.

  • Notice how she said, "I'm not fucking throwing up." That's very specific. If i was her team I would be watching out for things like that. I know when I was in treatment, to avoid directly lying I would be very specific when i would say i'm not doing something, but i'd still be doing other unhealthy things. For example, I would say, "I'm not purging, I swear" but i'd be hiding food. Same kind of thing.

  • @lizziebaba that's really confusing

  • wow...whatrs that bitches name at like 5:39...i HATE HER!! id stand up and spit on her if she acted that way with me...she reminds me of one of those popular bitches in highschool, who always talk and act 100000% better than u are, and u can almost see how she is about to laugh at shelly

  • alisa is kind of irritating

  • Geesh, the accusations on Shelly. Totally bull right there.

  • why are they sleeping in sleeping bags at 4:20? what were they waiting for?

  • @ClythiaMysticka Weights and vitals

  • Why do they give them pizza to eat? Why not brown rice and fish? That might lessen the disgust/guilt/feeling of being turned into a 'fat ass.'

  • The nurse who takes their weight and other vitals is the only staff member at Renfrew who actually seems to respect them and genuinely care about their well being. Rather than talking down to the patients, she jokes with them a bit (as with Polly) and isn't quick to jump on them for outbursts (like with Shelly's outrage about gaining 2 pounds). I think this lady really gets it.

  • They should give Anorexics Drill Sargents! Like when ur in training to become a marine, soldier, etc. When they get faced with a challenge, when they need their body, they MIGHT get it in their heads, they have a problem. And will do anything, to please their Drill Sargents.

  • Shelly sorry

  • I understand Polly, when I was in treatment they thought I binged because I was gaining weight so fast, but I was not the truth! It's horrible when therapist, nurses don't trust you! You feel more alone and misunderstood!

  • @justemoikmie I mean Shelly

  • Beaverjieez your a judgmental idiot. These therapist are cunts. They treat these girl like they are loosers. You couldn't understand ever what these girls are going through, the pain and hurt Your so perfect im sure.

  • Oh and by the way, people with these types of disorders enjoy blowing things out of distortion, just like drug addicts. They lie and manipulate. You can't trust the majority of the words coming out of their mouths, they talk about how they are being honest about everything, but it's nothing but another lie.

  • People keep talking about the therapists being "assholes" and that they "suck", but the fact of the matter is that sometimes patients need to hear it exactly the way it and they don't need the over sympathetic approach. When the clients are sneaky liars, the therapists have to use a method that involves no B.S. and gives it to them straight.

  • "I wanna get the fuck outta here. I can't wait."

Oh my God, I think that sums it up for everyone.

  • how are they filming them smoking in the bathroom and yet they dont know they were smoking in the bathroom?

  • @ClythiaMysticka mind blown.

  • @killerxnikki lol i know what retards there

  • @ClythiaMysticka These 'therapists' suck. Lol.

  • @ClythiaMysticka It's not the film crews' job to rat them out to the staff.

  • @ClythiaMysticka Why should they say anything to the staff about their smoking. Generally an objective film crew should say have very little interaction with either side unless relevant to the documentary.

  • @ClythiaMysticka Because the company shooting the documentary is not part of the hospital. They are a film crew.

  • @ClythiaMysticka Documentery crew cant talk or do anything unless it is life threatening. they sign pappers or something like that. If one of the patience hid food and they filmed it they would not say. if someone gets lost they wont help them find the way, etc.

  • @ClythiaMysticka You see that a lot in documentaries. I think they're so trained to stay in the background and just film, that they don't tell the staff about it even though they saw it. That way, they can catch even the secrets on tape without the people acting for the cameras.

  • @ClythiaMysticka The film crew knew but not the staff at the clinic. I don't know why they don't smoke on the smoke porch. They act like teenage girls trying to break the rules at high school. Anorexics can be emotionally immature. And they shouldn't have full length mirrors in the bedrooms, as they are obsessed with their body image to begin with.

  • @Miss65boo Yes your totally right. These girls are really immature.

  • @Miss65boo I have to agree with the mirrors. I hate full length mirrors. I struggle with my weight and the last thing I want is one of those. After a tough day, I come home and pet my cat and watch tv since I live alone. But when I get with friends, we do act up a bit and let off some steam with some 4 letter words and a bit of alcohol. Living like that is not easy and I have been in a treatment facility for a few weeks. It can get on your nerves.

  • @Miss65boo i think there is only certain times they can smoke outside..plus smoking curbs apetite and helps you lose weight, so i think they dont want the girls to smoke alot

  • @ClythiaMysticka the staff aren't filming them, the doco crew is..

  • @ClythiaMysticka Because the camera crew wouldn't have told the staff. It wasn't their job to tell staff anything. They were there to film the real, true story of what happened there.

  • @ClythiaMysticka The film crew was not obligated to tell staff

  • @ClythiaMysticka the filmer was probably not one of the nurses/doctors/ther-rapists.

  • @suus14 the filmer was a rapist? oh no hide girls!!!11

  • @ClythiaMysticka The people that made the film probably didn't work there, and don't care enough and aren't supposed to interfere...

  • @taylorsacracker Ok i get it,....

  • if the all dont die from anorexia they will die from lung cancer..

  • @carlycat101 hey, guess what! you're going to die too, and probably from something you did to yourself.

  • no, , they will die from the crap people try to shove down their throats! pizza ? really! how bout some veggies and fruits? I doubt the cigarette is the threat !

  • @TheNicSpace

they're much more likely to die from the way they are now than from having the occasional slice of pizza

  • @TheNicSpace The meals at Renfrew are very well balanced. It's important for residents to experience eating "unsafe foods" in a safe setting because when you leave you'll be in situations where the only food available is a "bad food"

  • @TheNicSpace eating a burger or a slice of pizza or some form of junk food occasionally is not bad. It's when people eat it all the time that it becomes bad.

  • I shit every day haaaa

  • they shouldn't let them see there weights!

  • Is really early in the morning? Or is it really cold there? All of the girls are wrapping up in blankets, wont let bare feet touch the ground, ect. Or maybe the lack of calories makes them cold?

  • @mismonty46 I know Anorexia definitely makes it harder for your body to stay warm.&It is in the morning most likely because that is the best time to get an accurate weigh in. But I know I'd have a blanket because the gowns don't have secure backs and you could see underwear through it. :p

  • @mismonty46 Anorexics are always cold from lack of body fat to insulate them. This center is in Florida so it is hot there but most likely the interior is air-conditioned..

  • 5:40 that bitch in the red needs to realize that shes not helping shit

  • Whoops, they have to put rules on these girls. If they were capable of living mature, independent, adult lives, they wouldn't have an eating disorder. This disease is about lying, manipulation and narcissistic behavior.

  • They have to put ru

  • These documentaries should come with a warning at the beginning to say that if you have an eating disorder, are in recovery for an eating disorder or once had an eating disorder, it's gonna be REALLY triggering...

  • @0sexiest0nerd0

This is actually discussed wuite a bit in the entertainment industry and the answer most often than not is that the industry isn't responsible for the consumer. If someone with an ED finds this to be triggering than they need to make the decision not to watch it, the same as a drug addict needs to decide not to watch something showing use or someone needs to decide not to watch something offensive to them.

  • @lesterclaypool1 Yeah, I know, but I think that before the start of the documentary there should just be a little warning, sort of like before a movie when it says "This movie contains frequent violence" or whatever, just so that if you've stumbled across it by accident you know you need to change the channel.

  • @0sexiest0nerd0

Oh, don't get me wrong, I completely agree. I'm just saying that the industry isn't making any great leaps in doing that.

  • Is this docu available with german subtitles?

  • I also feel a weird pressure to lose weight , when I watch this ...

  • @umijenny Yeah me too, I first saw this when my bulimia was developing and it spurred me on? regret watching it now though!

  • Is it sick that this movie makes me wanna be thinner than they are instead of idk going to therapy?

  • @MsxKiki yea probably is sick but i feel the same..:/

  • @MsxKiki

Yes, it is sick. It is that kind of relationship to the world around you that defines an eating disorder...which is an illness. Someone without an eating disorder can watch this for the informational piece of entertainment that it is, people who are ill will pick out the triggers in it.

Not sick people are upset by The Karen Carpenter Story. People suffering an ED only see the methods of the madness.

  • "the language has to be different!"

    - "I fucked up again..sorry..I screwed up again"

    xD

  • Because the doctors are allways superier and victories! Thats why the doctors legitimice their hypocratic practice!

  • the doctors treat her like shit. how do they expect her to get better if they give her shit

  • I see sufferers who is price-given their victories "guards".

  • "Do - as - your - told,- or - else..." - mentality, must be kind of humiliating. This combined with the "interigation" with the "supreme court" (at 4:23->), takes the cake, so to speak.

  • so sad to see this beautiful, smart women driven to desperation because of their eating disorders (i do not mean any disrespect through this comment, merely an observation, but evidently there is more than meets the eye)

  • The victories is continuesly on the MISSION!

  • You know..I dont know that these clinics work very well. They're grouping together all the people who have this disorder...it makes it very competitive for them to be skinnier than each other & its all behind close doors. The people that work there probably dont know half the shit their patients converse. Its like combining a bunch of serial killers in one room...eventually they'll put their minds together and plan to kill everyone... & probably succeed too

  • shelly's getting on my nerves soooo badly. i can't fucking stand her.

  • "we really need to watch this clique that's forming. it's not a good thing." what, are they not allowed to have friends now?

    they're adults, for god's sake!

  • @strangeling354 I SO AGREE WITH YOU! When I was in treatment the staff got mad at me who I was hanging with.

  • @strangeling354 You're not supposed to make friends in treatment. You're supposed to focus on treatment.

I've been in psych wards four times and the rules there are similar to the rules at this treatment centre.

But hey, this place is more laid back with their rules for that. They can at least touch each other here and offer support.

  • Ive been bulimic for about 5 years when I binge at times I cant even taste the food depending on what Im eating then the purge makes me soooo good its like smoking some good weed or drinking your fave drink 10 x over @ times I may not eat for 3 days knowing if I pur ge the 4th day purging will be easier but bulimia is more about emotional issues than food it self Ive dealing with low self esteem, rape as a 9 y/o, my dad's death he passed away 10 yrs plus, my mom being ill bulimia is powerful

  • 4:38 the exorcist girl in scary movie 3. im sorry. but her face seems so identic.

  • Comment removed

  • @luv4cascy Why? Why would you want to do that to yourself? Just so you can conform to some unrealistic expectation of how society sees women? I'm fat and happy; want to know why? Because I could give two shits less about what people think. You should try it sometime and just be who you are. And fuck trying to look a certain way or be a certain weight.

  • is polly framing shelley? she sort of seems suspicious.

  • I guess Renfrew's claiming to be "supportive" rings a little hollow to me when the policies demonstrated in this documentary punish the women for displaying perfectly normal adult behaviors. Polly didn't get punished for encouraging other patients to starve themselves or relapse - no, she got kicked out for shit kids get punished for. The fact that she offered medication to another adult shouldn't be any of Renfrew's business, nor should swearing or any of the other million things they forbid.

  • I really hate what we can see of Renfrew's policies. The bullshit of not letting them swear and the therapists acting holier-than-thou? Give me a fucking break. They're all adults, they deserve much better than being treated like irresponsible children. They deserve compassion, not being treated like they're pathological. That place looks like it's from hell.

  • @shespeakssoftly Huh? They ARE pathological. They're all sick. That's why they're there.

  • @fetishizedarmadillo - Yeah, you're right that was poor word choice on my part. I guess I just mean they shouldn't be viewed as unworthy of making ANY choice for themselves (beyond the staff's puritanical views of "good behavior") just because they have an eating disorder.

  • @shespeakssoftly puritanical? id like to know what you see:)

  • Oh these are very real. I personally met one of the girls that was there during the filming, so I know it's very real.

  • @Buffheart I don't know these girls personally but I was in treatment many times and I know this is basically how it is. this is very real- there is no 'acting' going on

  • @princessdisney26 Yes, I know there is no acting going on. I posted my comment from my iPod. It was in response to L4NuitChasseur's comment, but my iPod wouldn't let me post the name for some reason. I myself have been in treatment twice, so I know how it goes.

  • @Buffheart yeah I was in treatment five or six times- cant even remlember but right now im suffering i am severely under (40 pounds under my IDW) and my parents want to send me to this place but

  • @Buffheart yeah I was in treatment five or six times- cant even remlember but right now im suffering i am severely under (40 pounds under my IDW) and my parents want to send me to this place but from the documentary it appears bad do u know if it is good or not?

  • @princessdisney26 I was at the center in Philadelphia and I thought it was a really grade treatment center. Everyone was really supportive and I often find myself missing it, which sounds so weird, but I do.

  • umm... this videos are kinda not real , i mean it seems to be acted. you know what i mean?

..mhh but its a very touching story.. and all of this girls are really thin

    (sorry for bad english)

  • @junior13578 that's all from one person. at the top, it says it's shelly's chart.

  • if you notice the weight chart at about 1:40 you can see nobody there really weighs over 100 pounds

  • Funny how they say they're want to lose weight as a form of control, yet to recover they can't control themselves to not smoke cigarettes. Then again, it seems like most of them don't ant to in the first place. Stubbornness or truly control?

  • Jodie should stick to giving nutritional advice. Who does she think she is? Only very few people can be trusted when it comes to power over other people. Remeber that.

  • that blonde nurse is a bitch.

  • I know it's hard to get excused of something you don't do in treatment, I was in a program and people were saying I was smoking weed and they talked to me, I got so mad that I went and got high because I figured that if people think I'm doing it I might as well do it and I got kicked out of the program. It suxed, If people had kept there mouth shut and not lie about me I wouldn't have got high.

  • wow she changed so many times, I don't really care about what I wear I guess because I'm so ugly that nothing will make me look pretty so who cares what I wear. I don't wear makeup either for the same reason.

  • @edpinkgurl I bet thats not true

  • alliances? what is this, Survivor?

  • 'you're screwing up' ?!!! is that guy serious? those girls feel like they're screwing up weight-wise and that's how they get depressed and anxious and agitated. and on top of that, they say to shelly's face that she's screwing up? oh my god people need to train more on counselling for eating disorders.

  • nutritionist is a fuckin bitch

  • that nutritionist is such a bitch!!

  • 6:17 fucking right!!! i said the same thing just as she said it lmao

  • They are soo thin and beautiful

  • "did you move your bowels yesterday?" "of course. i shit everyday."

    hahahahaha

  • The nutritionist at 5:32 is a freaking bitch! quit being so condescending! and what's the deal with putting her in "partial day room" aka lock down until she confesses for something she didn't do!!!!!! UGH!

  • GOD th nutritionist is a BITCH >.< if i was there i would have punched her in he face a longgg time ago

  • me too chenandlerbob i was diagnosed with anorexia a few months ago and im normal weight, and a eating disorder clinic is trying to make me go.

  • @MrDr4ever

can they make do you those body checks??

  • That black haired nutritionist bitch should be a cop along with the dreadful sour faced blond whale. How can people get well when people like this deal with them?Check out the posts on the Rhodes Farm in the UK, there they seem to have a better idea

  • @Nighthawkx15 Rhodes Farm is terrible.

  • @Nighthawkx15 I think Rhodes Farm is even worse than Renfrew, to be honest.

  • That clinic really sucks

  • im overweight, and i have eating disorders. My body don't alloud me 2 loose weight... it's fucking annoying...

  • the therapists seem like huge assholes.

  • @moonsarestupid they already have self esteem issues!! and the therapists are just ganging up and making them feel worse about themselves! its already bad enough to be on watch and not have people trust you, but it doesnt have to be said its already bad enough that feeling that people dont trust you.

  • :("

  • fuck that. i learned the hard way not trust psych ward nurses.

  • Ohmygod, this is making all the memories come back...

  • AAAAAUGH the nurse who insists Shelly is lying irritates me so much. I know how it feels to be put in that position, and how frustrating it is when someone just doesn't trust your word and feels they know better, even though you've been nothing but honest.

  • @TangDynastyBeard I don't trust Shelly in this situation...

  • @chocofreak13 You don't know that. The nurses are clearly lying, shelly constantly states when she does purge because she's trying to get better and the staff is horribly rude and condescending, and they make fun of the patients. How can you trust the staff?

  • @chocofreak13 in the next part you will see that the staff admitted to "accidentally" changing the story somehow that it was in her room when really it was in a bathroom in another hallway. It's rediculous how they treat people there.

  • @TangDynastyBeard can't agree with you more. Only one nurse said that and they keep schedule of their diets and if she never was around a veggie burger how could she purge it? And why would she purge it on the floor in the middle of her room? You'd flush it or something. The nurses are full of shit.

  • I wonder about shelly's bracelet.

  • lol "2.7 pounds in one fucking day"

  • @ClythiaMystica What is so funny?

  • @Katanankantaja the way she said it was funny and its probably all water weight anyway so shes stressing for nothing

  • I can't tell if they're arguing about who ate less or who ate more properly.

  • you cant get help from people who dont even trust you!!! wtf. i hate therapists

  • @stefanierose88

Generally the idea is that eating disorder patients lie. T

  • So now making friends in rehab is considered "forming an alliance" ? Thats crazy.

  • @breecantsee yea, its so annoying how they speak

  • @Asqueadaable she is thin and she does have a disorder, her personality being confident does not make her a liar or an actor. I have a very confident and articulate personality much like her - its just the way I talk and act.

  • Comment removed

  • She is telling the Big nurse:

    - She wants to make me a BIG FAT ASS!!!

    that's just funny

  • I actually like most of the staff. I feel like these women NEED stability and enforcement :/

  • @KatyfuckingBungay Yes, there's a big difference between stability and judgement.

  • Treatment like this leads to people eating to get out and then going right back. It just reinforces the idea they have that they're right and everyone else is out to get them.

  • no wonder they all relapsed after getting out of there...that place is like a jail =(

  • these places are absolutely horrible. the staff is awful and treat the girls like invalids. they always have to assume that something is wrong with the girls and that their eating disorders make them somehow less than them. these places really are like prisons. if i was shelly i would definitely want to get the fuck out of there. this place is absolutely terrible, i would never send anyone i loved there, no matter how serious their disorder.
