Thats because American idol and Austrailian idol have contracts that state that they have to do the show at least for another couple seasons. Plus no offense but a whole lot more people watch American idol more than any other idol show in the world.

it's supposedly because we're only in season two of sytycd canada, and it is too expensive to run both at once, and because we're not very far along in sytycd, and because the ratings were so high, they decided to run sytycd instead of idol.

no, I am Canadian... although their statement was vague, it could encompass a lot of things. they lost some sponsorship, they don't get enough viewers and it costs a lot to run the show. why are you being so argumentative to people who are telling you this. tv is about ratings, and people buying commercial air time and cost effectiveness.

Well let me tell you that Canadian Idol has been known as a ratings juggernaut. It is one of the highest rated shows in Canada and I know this from the research I have done. Do you have any research you would like to show me?

do you have any research on how much the show costs to run. ie. the budget and how much advertisers need to pay for a slot during during the show and how many have pulled out? not to mention, the judges flying to different cities, set up, tear down, putting up contestants, etc - sure there would be huge deals but why would they pull a show that is a ratings juggernaut? they can't afford it maybe.

HAHA! CTV has every right to cancel shows to try to keep in the black. Other networks in other countries may be able to afford to run their idol shows, but for this year Canada will not. There are different producers for each show, what goes in one country will not be the same in another! Cool it man! What other countries and other networks do have NO EFFECT at all on what CTV does. To answer the question about SYTYCD Canada, if it was higher in ratings, it makes sense it'll be coming back!

LOL Stating that another Country has renewed IDOL is a downright crock. Canada and Australia are to different economies, countries and networks. Australia rested it's version of BB last year after a decline in ratings and because of a downturn in profits. So they are loosing shows as well. It turns out that IDOL survived but just barely.

As I understand CI was loosing viewers significantly meaning ad revenues would go down as well. It just wasn't making the money it once was.

I hope you understand now that CTV is in big trouble and they do the Canuck Idol. They need to reduce expenditures across their group of companies, so your complaint about CTV axing Canuck idol for a year uses a specious argument.

I interviewed John Brunton who produces CANADIAN IDOL and he said they hope to be back but it's up to CTV and getting famous people on every week.. COSTS A HELL OF A LOT OF MONEY THEY DONT WANNA SPEND RIGHT NOW.

I´m a latin guy and as you may know we the latin people have our idol show "LATIN AMERICAN IDOL", I am kind of concerned because at this point of the year the auditions for the first 3 seasons were already taking place in several countries from all over Latin America, but nothing has been heard about the fourth season so far which is supposed to be running this year. Would you mind to find out about this matter? I´d really appreciate it.
