  • @kilo9161 Moscow, eyeing U.S. missile defense plans, announces work on 100-ton “monster” missile. This appears to at least partly explain why on Monday Russia announced that it had successfully tested a short-range interceptor missile; part of its ongoing effort to develop a domestic missile defense system, according to Russia's RIA News Agency.

  • @kilo9161 (The Russian Defense Ministry has provided a video of the missile's launch on its website.) Russia also announced it is working on the development of a 100-ton ballistic missile slated for release in 2015, Pravda reports. Russia recently held contested parliamentary polls and is due to hold presidential elections in March.

  • @kilo9161 Russia watchers note the political backdrop to the announced plans and their part in the wider narrative agenda: resurgent Russia's determined opposition to American missile defense plans in Eastern Europe.

  • @kilo9161 "Russia does not stand against the U.S. missile defense system," Sergei Karakaev, the Russian Defense Ministry commander of the missile troops, was cited by the paper. "Russia stands against the creation of the missile defense system, which would be directly aimed against Russia to potentially reduce the possibilities of the Russian nuclear containment forces."

  • I was in Iraq, probably defending your country, how about that ttiiyy?Rich means nothing about whether learning a language or not. I can also assure you that at least half of my country knows two languages, spanish and english (Puerto Rico), and on top of that im learning a third language (german). I can agree with you about some people saying that learning other languages is more important than others, because that is an ignorant thought.

  • Luckily, your are part of that nation, and is a shame for you to say those words, because those are things we are fighting for in the middle east. Your country has always been divided, either black and white, east vs west, north vs south, etc. That was one of the biggest innovations the Americans did, unity in diversity. You can say better words than that.

  • @ttiiyy Hey, no offense, but so far, most of the people in the US does not try to learn any other language like europeans, middle eastern and latinos. Everywhere I have been so far people talk bad things about americans. Im puertorrican and I just came from Iraq. Personnally I stand for what is right, and the american constitution is great, what they believe and what they stand for, I dont see myself defending americans or any country, I see beyond that, fight for what is right.

  • @metalmaster7789 I'm American, and I know we're a hated country, but we don't care. We know what's right. Of course, not everything we do is right.. Just like any other country. I don't hate Hispanics. I'm learning Spanish.. Not all Americans are ignorant, fat, rednecks. I even wanna not only visit out of state (And I already have..), but I also wanna visit outside of the country! I wanna visit closer places first. Like: Canada and Puerto Rico. And further places like: Spain and Germany.

  • @metalmaster7789

1.) I am shocked by how ignorant you are. I live in California. Every campus of Universit of California system requires the students to take foreign language classes (this applies to most majors). So I don't know what the hell you're talking about.

2.) I'm not really sure why you say Americnas do not try tolearn foreign languages as Latinos. I have met Hispanic trolls right here in CA that claim that Spanish is the most important language for American children to learn.

  • @ttiiyy Puerto Ricans have participated in all U.S. wars since 1898, most notably World War I, World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars, as well as the current Middle Eastern conflicts. Several Puerto Ricans became notable commanders, five have been awarded the Medal of Honor, the highest military decoration in the United States, and several Puerto Ricans have attained the rank of General or Admiral,

  • @ttiiyy In the 21st century, Puerto Ricans have participated in the military campaigns of Afghanistan and Iraq, in what the United States and its allies refer to as the War on Terrorism. Among those that have perished during the Irag Operation are the first three Puerto Rican women to die in a foreign combat zone.

  • @metalmaster7789 The fact that you think most people in the US do not try to learn foreign languages is the proof that you probably know nothing about our college education system, which does require most students to take foreign language classes if they want to get diplomas.

Also, Latinos are NOT role models for Americans. I have met so many Hispanic trolls that claim that learning Spanish is more important than learning other foreign languages in the US. Their arrogance disgusts me.

  • @ttiiyy The U.S. Government classifies Puerto Rico as an independent taxation authority by Federal Law codified on the Title 48 of the United States Code as 48 U.S.C. § 734. Puerto Rico residents are required to pay U.S. federal taxes, import/export taxes,[105] federal commodity taxes, social security taxes etc. Individuals working with the Federal Government pay federal income taxes while the rest of the residents are required to pay federal payroll taxes (Social Security and Medicare),

  • @ttiiyy From El Paso, he was sent to the town of Polvo, where he was appointed mayor and judge by its citizens. Esteves helped organize the 23rd Battalion, which would be composed of Puerto Ricans and be stationed in Panama during World War I. He would also play a key role in the formation of the Puerto Rico National Guard.[56]

  • @ttiiyy World War II was also the first conflict in which women, other than nurses, were allowed to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. However, when the United States entered World War II, Puerto Rican nurses volunteered for service but were not accepted into the Army or Navy Nurse Corps. As a result, many of the island's women work force migrated to the mainland U.S. to work in the factories which produced military equipment.

  • @ttiiyy They are Specialist Frances M. Vega, Specialist Lizbeth Robles and Specialist Aleina Ramirez Gonzalez. On November 2, 2003, Specialist Frances M. Vega became the first female Puerto Rican soldier born in the United States to die in a war zone.

  • @ttiiyy In the field of public advocacy and community service, prominent Puerto Ricans such as Manuel Mirabal, Lucy Cabrera and Maria Elena Girone continue to improve the quality of life of their community. Also, Puerto Rican engineers have especially excelled in NASA.

  • @ttiiyy Let me ask you something now, do you feel stupid now? Before start talking shit please do a thing called research, by the way did someone teach that in college or high school. Fucking asshole but let me tell you something I am not completely disagreeing with you. I agree with a few things about the bull shit of not trying to learn American culture or learning the language or finally joining the Union.

  • @metalmaster7789 As an American that lives in the US, I can assure you that, just like Europeans, we Americans take the foreign language education very seriously. The US spends A LOT money on the foreign language education than countries in the Middle East and Latin America. You go to a public school in the US, you will find more than one foreign language program at that school. How many public schools in the Middle East and Latin America offer as many foreign language classes? Get it?

  • @ttiiyy as well as Commonwealth of Puerto Rico income taxes. All federal employees,[ plus those who do business with the federal government,[110] in addition to Puerto Rico-based corporations that intend to send funds to the U.S., and some othersalso pay federal income taxes. In 2009, Puerto Rico paid $3.742 billion into the US Treasury.

  • @ttiiyy On May 17, 1917, the Porto Rico Regiment of Infantry was sent to guard the Panama Canal in defense of the Panama Canal Zone One of the Puerto Ricans who distinguished himself during World War I was Lieutenant Frederick Lois Riefkohl of the US Navy, who on August 2, 1917,

  • @ttiiyy By 1918, the Army realized that there was a shortage of physicians specializing in anesthesia, a low salary specialty required in the military operating rooms. Therefore, the Army reluctantly began hiring women physicians as civilian contract employees.

  • @ttiiyy Over 1,225 Puerto Ricans have died while serving the United States. The names of those who perished in combat are inscribed in "El Monumento de la Recordación" (Monument of Remembrance), which was unveiled on May 19, 1996, and is situated in front of the Capitol Building in San Juan, Puerto Rico.[146]

  • @metalmaster7789 I don't want to insult you, but you made a very IGNORANT statement, which reveals how little some people know about the US education system. I agree that Europeans make more efforts to learn foreign languages than Americans. However, saying that people in the Middle East and Latin America make more efforts to learn foreign languages than Americans is just STUPID. You're either delusional or dishonest. I really don't know how you can possible get that ridiculous idea.

  • @ttiiyy which requires a Presidential nomination and Senate confirmation, as is the case of judges and ambassadors.[117] In World War II,[118] the Korean War[119] and the Vietnam War[120] Puerto Ricans were the most decorated Hispanic soldiers and in some cases were the first to die in combat.[

  • @ttiiyy The governor of Louisiana, Bernardo de Gálvez, was named Field Marshal of the Spanish colonial army in North America. In 1779, Galvez and his troops, composed of Puerto Ricans and people from other Spanish colonies, distracted the British from the revolution by capturing Pensacola, the capital of the British colony of West Florida and the cities of Baton Rouge, St. Louis and Mobile.

  • @ttiiyy General William W. Harris was quoted in the Puerto Rico Herald as saying, "No ethnic group has greater pride in itself and its heritage then the Puerto Rican people. Nor have I encountered any that can be more dedicated and zealous in support of the democratic principles for which the United States stands. Many Puerto Ricans have fought to the death to uphold them"

  • @metalmaster7789 You have probably never been to a college in the US. Almost every regionally accredited college in the US has some sort of foreign language requirements. So most American college students have to learn one foreign language. As a matter of fact, almost every public school in the US offers at least one foreign language program.

How many public schools in the Middle East and Latin America offer any foreign language classes?

  • @ttiiyy The Puerto Rican troops, under the leadership of Brigadier General Ramón de Castro,[19] helped defeat the British and Indian army of 2,500 soldiers and British warships in Pensacola.[20] Galvez and his multinational army also provided the Continental Army with guns, cloth, gunpowder and medicine shipped from Cuba up the Mississippi River. General Ramón de Castro, who was Galvez's Aide-de-camp in the Mobile and Pensacola campaigns, became the appointed governor of Puerto Rico in 1795

  • @ttiiyy The first Puerto Rican woman doctor to serve in the Army under contract was Dr. Dolores Piňero from San Juan. She was assigned to the San Juan base hospital where she worked as an anesthesiologist during the mornings and in the laboratory during the afternoons.[

  • @ttiiyy Sixty-one thousand Puerto Ricans served in the Korean War, including 18,000 Puerto Ricans who enlisted in the continental United States.[126] Puerto Ricans distinguished themselves as part of the 65th Infantry Regiment receiving many awards and recognitions; however, they were also involved in the largest court martial of the Korean War.

  • @ttiiyy WASHINGTON, June 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- In honor of the National Puerto Rican Day Parade that will be celebrated on Sunday in New York City, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today paid tribute to the major contributions of Puerto Ricans to the United States. The Puerto Rican community represents the second largest national origin group among Hispanics. Puerto Ricans have been U.S. citizens

  • @metalmaster7789 The only foreign language that people in Latin America that do make some efforts to learn is English, and that's pretty much about it.

And because of that, for some reasons, these Latinos believe that all people in the US should learn Spanish. That's IDIOTIC.

In the US, not all of us are interested in learning just Spanish. There are other great options such as Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, German or French.

Not wanting to learn Spanish doesn't mean we reject foreign lang's

  • @ttiiyy During the 1800s, commerce existed between the ports of the eastern coast of the United States and Puerto Rico. Ship records show that many Puerto Ricans traveled on ships that sailed from and to U.S. and Puerto Rico. Many of them settled in places such as New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Upon the outbreak of the American Civil War, many Puerto Ricans joined the ranks of military armed forces, however since Puerto Ricans were Spanish subjects they were inscribed as Spaniards.

  • @ttiiyy The men of the 65th were the first infantrymen to meet the enemy on the battle fields of Korea. Among the hardships suffered by the Puerto Ricans was the lack of warm clothing during the cold, harsh winters. The enemy made many attempts to encircle the Regiment, but each time they failed because of the many casualties inflicted by the 65th.

  • @ttiiyy The 65th Infantry was credited with battle participation in nine campaigns.[130] Among the distinctions awarded to the members of the 65th were 10 Distinguished Service Crosses, 256 Silver Stars and 595 Bronze Stars. According to El Nuevo Día Newspaper, May 30, 2004, a total of 756 Puerto Ricans lost their lives in Korea and a total of 3,630 men were wounded, from all four branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.

  • @ttiiyy since 1917, and currently, there are nearly 8 million Puerto Ricans in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. "For more than a century, Puerto Ricans have significantly contributed to the development, defense, and prosperity of the United States," Pelosi said. "As the presence and influence of the Hispanic population in the United States continues to grow, so will that of the Puerto Rican community and consequently, their contribution to American society

  • @metalmaster7789 You sound like one of those anti-US trolls that just know nothing about the US education system.

Your example of Latinos cracks me up. I can't remember how many Hispanic trolls that are only willing to learn English and then brag about it.

That's the only foreign language that they can speak.

Here in the US, Spanish is NOT our only choice. Just because some of us do not want to learn Spanish doesn't mean we reject all foreign languages. You should know the difference.

  • @ttiiyy The 1860 census of New Haven, Connecticut, shows there were 10 Puerto Ricans living there. Among of them was Augusto Rodriguez who joined the 15th Connecticut Regiment (a.k.a. Lyon Regiment) in 1862. During the Civil War, Rodriguez, who reached the rank of Lieutenant, served in the defenses of Washington, D.C.. He also led his men in the Battles of Fredericksburg and Wyse Fork. The regiment was mustered out on June 27, 1865 and he was discharged in New Haven on July 12, 1865.[1]

  • @ttiiyy In 1944, the Army sent recruiters to the island to recruit no more than 200 women for the Women's Army Corps (WAC). Over 1,000 applications were received for the unit which was to be composed of only 200 women. The Puerto Rican WAC unit, Company 6, 2nd Battalion, 21st Regiment of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps, a segregated Hispanic unit, was assigned to the Port of Embarkation of New York City, after their basic training at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

  • @ttiiyy During the Vietnam War, an estimated 48,000 Puerto Ricans served in the four branches of the armed forces.[133] Some sources state that a total of 345 Puerto Ricans who resided in the island died in combat, however according to a report by the Department of Defense, titled "

  • @ttiiyy Number of Puerto Ricans serving in the U.S. Armed Forces during National Emergencies" the total number of Puerto Ricans who died was 455 and that were wounded was 3,775.[71] A total of 17 men were listed as Missing in Action (MIA), and of these, PFC. Humberto Acosta-Rosario is the only one whose body has never been recovered and is currently still listed as MIA.[

  • @ttiiyy Puerto Ricans have made extraordinary sacrifices in our country's military. Nearly 250,000 Puerto Ricans, from both the United States and the Commonwealth, have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The most distinguished has been the 65th Infantry, an all-Puerto Rican division whose members received countless awards from their service in Korea. Thousands more Puerto Ricans are now contributing to our national defense in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other countries of the world.

  • @loveangel71 chinese president [ hu jintao on theday unged the navy to prepare for military cobat 3 chinnese sub 351 mile la base de ceyba

  • @metalmaster7789 Can you provide me any proofs that people in the Middle East and Latin America learn a wide variety of foreign languages as people in Europe and Asia do? Any proofs at all? I highly doubt it.

I am absoultely disgusted by some Hispanic trolls in the US that claim that learning Spanish is more important than learning other foreign languages.

Their claim makes no sense since China, Japan, Korea, Germany, and France are much richer than most Spanish speaking coutries.

  • @ttiiyy On June 19, 1915, Major General Luis R. Esteves of the U.S. Army became the first Puerto Rican to graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. While he attended West Point, he tutored fellow classmate Dwight D. Eisenhower in Spanish; a second language was required in order to graduate. He was a Second Lieutenant in the 8th Infantry Brigade of the army under the command of John J. Pershing when he was sent to El Paso, Texas in the Pancho Villa Expedition.

  • @ttiiyy In 1990, 1,700 Puerto Rican National Guardsmen were among the 20,000 Hispanics deployed to the Persian Gulf in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm as part of the Gulf War. Four Puerto Ricans lost their lives, including Captain Manuel Rivera, Jr. of the Marine Corps, a Puerto Rican from the South Bronx,

  • @ttiiyy who on January 22, 1991 became the first soldier to be killed in Operation Desert Shield. Rivera was killed during a support mission over the Persian Gulf. On January 30, 1991, the U.S. House of Representatives paid tribute to Rivera.[

  • @ttiiyy Democrats join to celebrate the pride and culture of Puerto Ricans," Pelosi said. "We honor their service, their patriotism, and we will continue to work together to improve the lives of Puerto Rican working families and all Americans. Many Puerto Ricans have excelled in the world of the arts, sciences, journalism, business, sports and other professions.

  • @ttiiyy Raul Julia, Rita Moreno, Benicio del Toro, and Roselyn Sanchez are among the many talented Puerto Rican Hollywood stars. Performers such as Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Daddy Yankee, Willie Colon, Tito Puente, and many others have delighted American audiences with their music.

  • @ttiiyy In the world of sports, boricuas such as Roberto Clemente, Felix Trinidad, Carlos Arroyo, Bernie Williams, Juan Gonzalez, John Ruiz, Carlos Delgado, and Ivan Rodriguez, have inspired thousands of young athletes, not only in the United States, but in all of Latin America. Writers Rosario Ferre and Luis Rafael Sanchez are internationally renowned.

  • @ttiiyy Not only that, also that if we are going to talk richer countries people should learn german and chinesse because they are the top countries in the world with AAA credit LOL!!! But like I said before, it doesnt matter how much the country makes the language is not that important.

  • white people want to take over everyones home, but they will all end up in there real home when they die hell.fuck whites,

  • Luis Gutierrez whose parents were from Puerto Rico strongly opposed the measure to statehood for PR but do enjoy having all the privileges that living in the state do give to most U.S citizens

Luis Guitierrez this is not 1998 is 2010

  • the others that want to be from USA are pepole that dont work and dont give a Fuck about u discussing the status! the all want money to live for free!!!

so stop sending money! y they dont work mabye they will understand a little more of education, .. but sorry the teachers dont got money and havent pay for like 5 month ...no education more stupid people!

  • pepole in PR live by the US, that people dont work , the goverment became more rich... this is a war for our rigths!, the status alrady is a war!, for our rigths to be a nation, and be idependet nation!!

  • Spanish is OK under statehood? This motherfucker needs to get the fuck out of the US!

Our country is divided because of turds like him!

God, I just hate hispanics! Everybody else is learning English, only Hispanics bitch and complain as if they were the only ones that are doing the hard work!

  • What a piece of white trash! This great nation will be ruined by stupid white trash!

    Puerto Ricans want independence!

Don't forget that the future generations in Puerto Rico are going to say that Americans stole Puerto Rico from Spain!

Why do we have to endure this kind of BS while having to waste more tax dollars on the Spanish-speaking shithole!

  • @ttiiyy Shit hole? That shit hole had fought every American wars and still do, That shit hole contribute with billions to USA every years. I remember the last time I had fought you, you told me that you are from Philippine living in California. I have a very good memory stupid asshole and i pay my taxes, too. You are not even American.

  • @loveangel71

LMAO You must have delusion. When did I ever say that I'm from the Philippine? Are you doing drugs? I am an American citizen.

You're clearly crazy. Puerto Rican men that do fight the war represent what % of the entire PR population?

Also, where's the proof that PR contributes billions to the US every year? Can you provide at least one source to back that up?

You people also bitch about how the US tries to ruin the Spanish culture in PR anyway, so why reject independence?

  • @ttiiyy In New York, many Puerto Ricans joined the 369th Infantry Regiment which was mostly composed of Afro-Americans. They were not allowed to fight alongside their white counterparts; however, they were permitted to fight as members of a French unit in French uniforms.

  • @ttiiyy In 1944, the Army Nurse Corps decided to actively recruit Puerto Rican nurses so that Army hospitals would not have to deal with the language barriers. Among them was Second Lieutenant Carmen Lozano Dumler, who became one of the first Puerto Rican female military officers.[

  • @loveangel71 It seems to me that a moron like you thinks that as long as you try to protray me an a non-American, you will win the argument. That is just LAUGHABLE.

I don't care if you believe that I'm an American. I have the freedom to express my viewpoint.

1.) Only a small percentage of PR population fights in the wars (unless you can prove me wrong).

2.) I highly doubt that you will ever be able to list one source to prove PR contribues billions to the US. It's the US that helps out PR

  • @ttiiyy became the first known Puerto Rican to be awarded the Navy Cross. The Navy Cross, which is the second highest medal after the Medal of Honor, that can be awarded by the U.S. Navy, was awarded to Lt. Riefkohl for his actions in an engagement with an enemy submarine. Lt. Riefkohl, who was also the first Puerto Rican to graduate from the United States Naval Academy, served as a Rear Admiral in World War II.[62]

  • @ttiiyy They fought along the Western Front in France, and their reputation earned them the nickname of "the Harlem Hell Fighters" by the Germans. Among them was Rafael Hernández Marín, considered by many as Puerto Rico's greatest composer. The 369th was awarded French Croix de guerre for battlefield gallantry by the French President.

  • @loveangel71 The fact that you have the nerves to claim that PR contributes billions to the US ever year makes a big statement about how IDIOTIC you really are.

You people are a burden on American taxpayers' shoulders. And the fact that you always bitch about how the US tries to "destroy" the Spanish culture in PR shows how ungrateful that you really are.

Without the funding from Washingtion D.C., PR will indeed be a poor shit hole.

  • @ttiiyy Puerto RicoFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Puerto Ricans may enlist in the U.S. military. Since 1917 Puerto Ricans have been included in the compulsory draft whenever it has been in effect and more than 400,000 Puerto Ricans have served in the United States Armed Forces.

  • @ttiiyy During World War II, it is estimated by the Department of Defense that 65,034 Puerto Ricans served in the U.S. military.[71][88] Soldiers from the island, serving in the 65th Infantry Regiment, participated in combat in the European Theater — in Germany and Central Europe.

  • @loveangel71 I remember one time, during the argument, you even called me a Mexican that's jealous of PR. And now you're saying that I'm from the Philippines? LMAO

    You are an idiot.

  • @ttiiyy Those who resided in the mainland of the United States were assigned to regular units of the military and served either in the European or Pacific theaters of the war. Some families had multiple members join the Armed Forces. Seven brothers of the Medina family known as "The fighting Medinas", fought in the war. They came from Río Grande, Puerto Rico and Brooklyn, New York.

  • What a fucking idiot.

  • @cwa1984 The only @#$# idiot is you! He speaks the Truth!

  • @ldybgirl33 Why are you against letting people decide their own fate on this vote.
