Jacobs manages to pull some fairly interesting compositions out of, what is, cinematically, quite silly, even boring imagery. The first segment is ridiculous, the second wholly disinteresting, but the final segments capture random moments of authentic film imagery, painterly gestures, unencumbered by imposed structures like plot, but which still manage to conjure up some meaning beyond the frame. So much experimental film wallows in banality and the utterly boring..this one walks a fine line.
