I'll give you simple for a lot of the first gen's Pokemon (as in lack of creativity), and a lot of the second gen's Pokemon that weren't evos of the old Pokemon look like they were done last minute (like Sunkern and Politoed).

I'm can't deny that a lot of the new Pokemon look weird, but most people seem to ignore the shit from the first two gens. And why does science fiction only apply to Gen 3+?

@RavenclawTimeLord There are other things still going on from when you were a kid. Digimon, Megumi Tensei Series, but not Monster Rancher because that show sucked. Pokemon is like these other series in where they release a set number and ask you to collect them, and then the merchandise, then a special form of a Pokemon, then a "GASP" new game with same story, same gameplay, but with 100 new monsters! All it is in the Monster Capture RPG's is a way to milk the gaming sheep. AKA. Pokefans.

@KaminaDies Well, I only liked the first 2 seasons of Digimon. Ive never heard of Megumi Tensei or Monster Rancher. I think its interesting how the come up with new Pokemon and still have ideas, although some do suck, and others are rip offs of older ones. Its still cool that there are 649 of them now, and giant step up from the 151 13 years ago. Even though the games are still the same gameplay, I love getting the new games because they change and get better.

@RavenclawTimeLord well here's a quick estimate. One single pokemon game at original release is about 35 USD at the highest. You need both copies to collect them all, adding the 3rd special edition. That's 110 for ONE generation. Times that now by 5, for a full Pokemon collection of just the normal Pokemon games, you spent 550 dollars. 550$ on a series that fails to renovate and only adds "New" Pokemon to numb the fact you are saying "PLEASE NINTENDO! TAKE MY MONEY!"
