this ones for my big daddy bass from the nihilistics this was a very good song that he liked very much.love you he passed away oct. 24th 2011 r.i.p babe......
Vintage Harry...long before "Nilsson Schmilsson","The Point" & "Without You" (made famous by Badfinger, of course)...and LONG before his legendary collaboration w/ John Lennon (all four Beatles called him their favorite American singer/songwriter)
Harry died way too young:( He had one of the most perfect voices in all pop/rock (listen to his albums and you'll know that) Born NYC June 15, 1941 ..died of a heart attack on January 15, 1994.
This was probably one of the first films ever that portrayed a sympathetic male lead who had sex w/ men. That explains how Hollywood slapped an X rating on it at the time - 1969.
this was one of my husbands many favorite songs but cancer took his life in 2011 oct. 49 cancer is a deadly hopeless disease there is very little survival rates tons of coverage was used no hope no help hes under the ground now.in 2011 or now 2012 still no cures??????????
I came here because it's a great song. This song is like ecstasy crawling into my heart and making it about to explode, water slowly drowning me. But I honestly don't care because the state that I'm in, when I listen to this song, is just so euphoric that the pain from the nostalgia is greatly outweighed by this beautiful feeling I get. You probably wouldn't understand...but sometimes, I truly enjoy the sensation of being close to breaking and being held together by this song
I was only 5 when this song came out. But it still brings back so many memories of growing up in Boston because this song was probably played into the 70's. I used to listen to this music on the teenagers' transistor radios in my neighborhood. This song also makes me think of Derek Sanderson who used to played Center for the Boston Bruins in the early 1970's. Somehow this song was affiliated with him. Anyone know why? Thanks! This song definitely creates a feeling, doesn't it?
I'm 15 and this music is just amazing to me. The crappy modern music won't ever be as good as this. R.I.P Harry Edward Nilsson III (June 15, 1941 – January 15, 1994)
This is mine and my mother's song. She used to play it for us when we were little when my dad went fishing. We'd dance around the living room laughing and singing. I have passed the love of music to my son as well. I exposed him to all kinds just like my mother did. He is now a musician but doesn't want to persue it as a career because he believes the industry will ruin it for him. He writes his own stuff and journals it as a hobby. Its incredible what that young man can put down on paper.
@heyyitsjonah Hey kid, I appreciate that. A lot of of younger people are now getting into real music instead of the crap that passes for music.Sure everyone has a right to make music the way they want, but good quality music uses all the elements - not just rhythm and a string of words with a short chorus sung by some drugged out chick. Music needs melody, harmony, rhythm, good tone (timbre) like the choice of instruments and good arrangements. Lyrics need to be clear and meaningful.
I remeber this song...I was accross the pond in far off Vietnam..can't erase those memories..the only thing I know is that to win a war there can no MORALITY...This song is one that has meaning to me...
ALL three of you guys are ignorant,,,i listien to rap and its not just about cappin bitches theres more to it music is what you listien to thats all that matters

I was a senior in HS when Midnight Cowboy came out. My parents wouldn't let me see it. It was only a few months until I was 18 and I went. Boy were they mad. I guess they didn't think I knew about sex, and they were right. What an education it was for me. In fact now kids in 5th grade know more than I did as a senior.
The ultimate version of this classic, so thoughtprovokingly better than the Fred Neil original, truly capturing the spirit of the 60's... I love this song........
