  • I like her interpretation. And her style, reminds me of an anime...

  • She looks cute with her hair covering her eyes, and the ear sticking out.

    Nice piece she's playing.

Why are female oboe players always so cute looking? :)

  • Wonderful sound.

Has she produced any recordings for purchase?

  • Bravisimoooo!!!! mis respetos, bello sonido. Profesional... de todos los videos que he visto en este momento este me parece extraordinario... Felicidades!!!!

  • Adagio pastorale, veneziano eccellentissimo.

  • Wonderful. an oasis of calm soothing bliss, and Beauty. Thankyou so much for sharing with me. Your sister is so, so, talented. Love and best wishes, from. Sheffield UK.

  • Maravilha ! Bravo ! Bravíssimo

    Carlos Telles

    Rio de Janeiro / Brasil

  • this reminds me a friend of mine that is not here anymore, very beautifull. Congratulations

  • She's amazing, Do you have videos of the other movements? I would like to hear more of her playing. She's so expressive and has a very nice phrasing. Very good.

  • I must comment on the tone of the oboe. Most of the players I've heard, their oboe sounds very harsh and duck-like. This oboe has that very bright and smooth tone, certainly the characteristic of any good oboe, which is perfect for this piece. It sounds just like a professional oboe player. Very well done.

  • I wish I was this proficient on Oboe, this piece is so beautiful, and your sister does a fine job with it. I've been playing oboe for 2 years, but with very little practice and no teacher, so I haven't really gotten that far. Although my primary instrument is cello. But your sister did a great job, although I'm sure the orchestra didn't like the acompaning part that much cause this piece is slow, but the solo is great!!!

  • Wow, I'm not a big fan of the Oboe, but that sounded really nice!

  • Very good!

Your sister may have a future as musician!

    Congrats!

  • A better camera and this would've been a favorite! ;)

  • Your sister is so pretty and elegant.

  • I love this piece. i wish you hadn't started in the second movement because every chance I get to hear it I take it. I make attempts to playing but getting the first movement up to presto doesn't exactly work out.

  • You mean the 3rd movement up to Presto ;)

  • i have heinz hollinger.... he's amazing lol. I like to hear different interpretations of it though

  • you play beautifully.

-former oboe player- 14 years.i miss it.

  • Way to go HYS!

  • she plays beautifully

but it would be better if she had better posture especially in this situation

  • she is young and probably nervous man come on..she might not even be nervous and that is how she wanted to play it.. it makes me mad that that is something you care about and something you would tell a young oboe player.

  • Gorgeous sound.

    Just get more into it!

    Move with the music!

    It's okay to feel it.

  • Beautiful Sound!

Not everybody could be (so) expressive while playing music. She stood stiffly and kept looking down along the performance doesn't mean she didn't enjoy the music in her heart. I really enjoy the music she has made.

  • That guy is really tall!

  • you are an idiot

  • yeah thats so true,

  • That's beautiful. I am working on this song right now, as a freshman. It is possibly my favorite song besides Gabriel's oboe.

  • What the hell is that noise? Its like a "pecking" sound. Is that her embouchure? Otherwise, nice performance.

  • No matter what you say, this is pretty bad assed. Whaaaaaa

  • very nice..wonderful..

  • thats really beautiful.

they could've raised the stand a little, though.

  • cara ragazza, è evidente la buona volontà. E' anche evidente che non hai avuto la fortuna di incontrare il grande maestro Anastasio Delbono

  • thats tight bro..thats like wack dude

  • roar undertaker

  • She sounds wonderful! Head position doesn't matter at all. It is just "proper". Someone can have a horrible embouchure at any instrument and get a good sound. If they do get a good a sound, they should just continue doing what they currently do. Same goes for playing position. The precedence for playing position is a guideline is for how one can obtain a characteristic sound.

  • So your saying someone can grasp the reed with their teeth but get a good sound? Awsome!

Dude embrouchure is everything. Doesn't matter if you play standing on your head. if you have a bad embochure you'll sound bad.

  • No, you won't get a good sound with a bad embouchure. Thats common sense.

  • People also say you wont get a good sound on an old reed...all things are possible.

  • I don't know about you, but I really can't get a good sound with my head down. Then again I play with a American style embouchure/scrape.

  • Beautiful! It's a pity your position..Try to put your head up! At least cut your hair. You wil be freer for tecnical trills and ornaments for example!Try!Play in the same position when you are resting (like at the end)

  • the only thing I would say, as an oboe player, is she needs to keep her head up. It really can affect your sound. But still really good.

  • I agree with kitty9309 your sister could work on trills but she is very good. I have been playing oboe for almost 11 years now. Trills are so much fun! Have fun with it and don't be scared to move with the music.

  • Oboes aren't loud. They just have a very penetrating tone.

  • lol, oboes are loud as hell.

u can always hear the oboes when they have the melody.

  • Cool! I just posted to many comments so this will be my last for a while..

  • Fredda come la morte!

  • Very good intonation, but not enough feeling. Work on the trills; they sound better faster.

  • Wow.. For a youth symphony it's really good.. I play Oboe myself for almost 6 years and she's really good ;) I couldn't play it with such an intonation and without faults!

Could I meet her? Lol :D

  • Adoro questa musica... e la malinconia e la luna che l'accompagna...come parte di un'anima perduta. L'adoro...

  • Adoro questa musica... e la malinconia e la luna che l'accompagna...come parte di un'anima perduta. L'adoro...

  • This is awsome... I am going to play the first bit of the concerto and this bit for my grade 8 exam

  • un poco de ruido al fondo, pero bien tocado...lo unico q le falta a chica es un poco de aire y feeling, esta pieza es preciosa y merece ,mucha alma

  • the oboe is a magnificent instrument and can also be heard on the Babys track I'm Falling one of the few rock tracks to feature an oboe.

  • *ahem*

    I'm done.

  • I also love your youngest sister. <3333333

  • I'm also better at oboe, though I play bassoon. :D Kidding.

  • I accompanied her at your house. :D

  • i play oboe myself, (and have done for 8 years) and although you cant hear much of tone in the recordingshe doesnt sound to bad! though she could do wtih lifting her head up and playing out more, not only would it make it easier for her, but it would improve the resonounce of her sound! good one tho!

  • I play the trumpet, but I really like both instruments. Lovely interpretation.

  • btw, i played the first part of this marcello concerto live on television in the church (for national sunday church service.....-_-)when i was about 14 and i was nervous as hell, lol. first part isnt difficult though...

  • i havent read all the comments but assuming this is you playing;), are you student at a consevatory?

  • im a clarinet player an oboe player and a tuba player as well as a tenor sax player lol. This was beautiful!

    continue playing

  • My band has an awesome oboe player like her. Not as good, but I'm sure she will be somewhere in the near future.

  • Lucky for you guys, put up a video of your band performing somewhere, or at least you playing by yourself....

  • That sound execllent, our oboe player sucks rocks because she is too damn lazy to care.....

  • beautiful great job hopefully my band will have an oboe player as good as you im a flute!

  • Great job guys!!!

check out the Chapman Symphony Orchestra playing Dvorak 8th.

Chapman University is a private 4 year university in Orange County, CA

The Chapman School of Music has on its faculty many of the top players from the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Pacific Symphony.

  • play it by mind,it`s easy, than you don`t have to look down all the time and you`ll have more air,and the people would think that you play it fot them!not bad!

  • u could play with my oboe any time y want ;)

  • Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some 1920's trading cards of musical instruments, including the oboe.

  • I played that too - I am sorry the audio is so poor

  • now THAT is how an oboe should sound. Excellent

  • I'm also a oboe player. I'm barely professial i acutally stick KINDA of a begginer. But this music! its great. :] A lot better then me

  • I used to play an oboe... but I switched for a Clarinet... oh how dumb I was.

  • very good! i also play the oboe and love it! it is rare to hear a young oboeist perform sooo good! hats off to you my lady.

  • Excellent and very inspirational. Hats off to her.

  • i play the oboe.... but not like that. got ne tips

  • she will be beatiful oboist.

  • I CAN PWN U IN OBOE lolz just kidding your awesome =] wonderful sound and with practice u'll become like me XD

  • ahhh HYS and the concerts in Stude Hall... just amazing. Glad to see Dr. Evans still conducting there in the phil.

  • This is great, well done =D

I'm new to youtube, I play oboe also, check me out =D

  • It's beautiful, with practice she will be the best!

  • does she have spit in that reed???

and which is harder: bassoon or oboe or english horn or contra bassoon

    i play bassoon..yay

  • no spit. this was recorded with a dinky point-and-shoot camera, so the quality have suffered greatly.

i would have to say contra, just because of the amount of air that you have to put through it. not having played bassoon or contra ever, my opinion probably doesn't carry much weight.

  • I'd say Bassoon ( I also play Bassoon, on a Moosmann). I only say this, because sure the contra needs more breathe support, but Bassoon obviously gets harder parts.

  • I've played that piece too! Haha, that's cool. Bet she plays a lot better than me (since I'm just playing oboe for 3,5 years ;))

    It's beautiful =)

  • We're not criticizing to be mean. We just want her to do the best she can.

  • Wow, this is really beautiful. I love the oboe, and she plays it really well. To say the least.

  • fabulous

  • I was there for that performance! I played in the top orchestra so that concert I got to accompany Branson and Emiliegh do their cello concertos. HYS was fun.

  • Very nice performance for a young person. Yeah, the head needs to come up either by raising the stand (which would probably hide your face from the audience - bad idea) or memorizing the music (sure it takes some time and effort, but is worth the trouble and is the much better alternative). You might be surprised how much of it you do have memorized just from your practicing. Way to go! Keep at it.

  • What is with you people and criticizing. OMG YOUR HEAD ISN'T UP! YOUR VIBRATO IS HORRIBLE! Who cares. Shes doing great for her age, just give her a friggin break already.

  • That was wonderful!!

  • she has excellent tone, but there needs to be alot more expression, you can do so much more with this piece

  • Its very beautiful. I also play the oboe, and I was wondering where I might find this piece?

  • You really need to try not to beat time with your body, as it completely destroys the small attempts you are making at phrasing. Also, your ornamentation doesn't always work harmonically and you do the same appoggiatura features over and over. Your tone is very piercing, but I imagine it is just from this poor recording quality. Vibrato also seems to be the same, never changing...but a decent start, I suppose.

  • I play the oboe but ı couldn't understand how could u be able to play oboe in this position you are almost bowing(?)I think that it will be very difficult to play like that but you've made it ;)

  • So pretty! I play the oboe too. XD

  • It's the second movement, probably the most difficult out of the three. I really like your tone, and the ornamentation is really well executed. I am also working on this, and I find my lips find playing the whole concerto a VERY difficult task. Great job!

  • Woah! Excellent. The camera doesn't pick up the sound well, but she played beautifully! I've always wanted to have a solo like that... (I play also)

  • the oboe sounds great.. the tone is very nice.. harmonise with the band.. played the oboe too.. really envy her.. =]

  • this piece sounds ridiculous on a modern oboe.

  • you sound ridiculous.

  • Perhaps we should all go and get our baroque oboes out then... She plays very well.... but i wish she'd lift her head a bit! Yes.... I'm an oboe teacher

  • as an oboist i ammire your tone, but start to introduce some phasing/expression.

  • Beautiful

Just like almost everyone else who commented I play oboe aswell.

    :)

  • This is beautiful! Your sister plays amazingly.

  • i play oboe! oboe rocks! but im not as good as that

  • has your sister a bf? lol

  • WOW your awesome!!! I play Oboe,FLute,Piccolo,English Horn,French Horn, and Bassoon! I Love your style how you play the oboe.

  • wow, shes really good. i play the oboe too.=]

  • tell your sister, she's really good, just it'd be better if she put her hair back so that none of it is in her face. Well done though!

  • Wow, this is really great. She sounds amazing. I did this and the first movement for auditions into my school. It's a beautiful song. With all the embellishments in this movement, it always sounds different...Great piece. Great performance. Great instrument.

  • wow, thats really beautiful, i wanna play oboe :)

  • How long have you been playing? You sound so good! I play oboe too! Onequestion though. Why did they make you stand up?

  • (not me, my sister). but at this point she had been playing for seven years. and unless you play a big instrument, you always stand when performing concertos and solos with a backing.

  • Better wiyh piccolo trumpet jejeje

  • i play oboe too, it is my favorite instrument, that and the english horn. This song is beautiful and u played it very awsomely!!!! i like your hair style too! ^_^

  • i play the eglish horn aswell^^and it's cool, but i don't know which one i like the best, becauss the sound that an oboe makes is so clear and sharp

  • OMG, thats soooo pretty...It reminds me of the HOUSE OF MIRTH

  • Better with baroque oboe!!!

  • I PLAT OBOE TOO and flute,trumpet,sax,trombone,andclarinet!

  • ok...

  • I PLAY OBOE!!! OBOES ROCK!!!!!!!

  • ooh this was D minor?

  • Right!

  • I play oboe too!!! YAY!! Not many people play oboe though..but sometimes I like being the only one..means I don't have anyone to beat..haha. I need to practice...hha. But damn, way to go!! Good performance!!

  • Wow, she is very talented. I play oboe too, clarinet and sax as well. Very entertaining.^^

  • what does what you have to play have anything to do with this clip of this talented girl?

  • I am a oboe player i a military band!

  • Marcello's oboe concerto. Nice! I just missed the 1st and the 3rd movements. Consider upload that too.

  • only the second movement was played at this particular performance.

  • is this a high school concert?

  • That was marvellous; I like it when Persis does Marcello on her oboe. That pleases me because I'm a classical music maniac.

  • Absolutely beautiful. I'm learning oboe right now, and I need to practice on my sound.

  • get over yourself miss lovely.

  • oh cool is this from the houston youth symphony? it sounds very beautiful =)

  • That is so gorgeous! I've seen this atleast 3 times.

  • That was the oboe!? That inspires me soooo much, I'm a middle school oboe player, and I always get made fun of, they say it sounds like a duck, but now I'm so inspired to continue on!

  • ah! lol i member middle school which was lsat year ..i was teased that way too!..'oh oboe sounds like a duck'..oboe kan make pretty sounds too!..hehe yeah continue on! i am!

  • I laugh at the people that says that. They don't really appreciate music. Or another comment i heard is: the oboe is like a clarinet but with a cold (constipated)

  • Well, to be honest, when played badly it DOES sound kind of like a duck. A dying duck at that! xD But when played well, I think it's one of the most beautiful instruments there are.

  • haha. seriously!!

when i began playing oboe...i was HORRIBLE!!

now..yea. i hope i sound as good as that :p

  • Nice :^)

  • That's really fine oboe playing there, I would use it for a project, but I don't know what song it is or who composed it.

  • oh wow...this is beautiful! it's great to see other oboe appreciaters! thank you for uploading! ^-^

  • not being offensive but you look like an elf other than that the piece is really nice

  • awww i heart my persis!

  • Awww, I like this piece! Very well played, too. That makes me happy.

  • Very nice........(^_^) makes me think
